Regenerate 600 HP per second monk standing around you, be invincible to attacks like that. He has 7k life, but if he had 1,000 life, his survivability would actually increase.
Anyone here played GW? Thats exactly like the 55HP Monk :D Have as few HP as possible and be invicible. I knew picking Wizard would be the right thing I'm curious how long it takes Blizz to change it though.
Yeah when the first guy posted about it I immediately thought of the 55 monk. Arenanet embraced it though and let it continue, but I cannot imagine Blizzard will leave it as such.
Well there are some definate weaknesses to the '0 vitality force armor' build. Any poison or fire etc. instantly kills you basically so some mobs are hard to handle. The synergy with diamond skin is amazing though as that basically renders you immune for it's entire duration and helps against the fire/poison problem. Just looking at the auction house you can easily find gear that entirely heals you in 3-4 secs. Combine it with some decent dexterity and you're set.
I think the setup for any good wizard in the highest levels will be: Skills Energy armor - force armor (key to the build) Familiar - ancient guardian (very good to let you take another hit, and the extra damage is gravy) Diamond skin - for me any rune does still (key against DoT effects, quick mobs etc) Frost nova/wave of force/teleport/mirror image - rune of choice (just some extra surviveability, with good healing any of them heals you up, i'd say wave of force for mobs and teleport for bosses) 2 skills for damage output, with a slow weapon i suggest no primary and just going for arcane orb + magic weapon
Passives Galvanizing ward (fairly important) Glass cannon (no drawback in this build) one of choice, illusionist for sure if you use image/teleport.
Gear NO vitality, strength/armor fairly useless. Dexterity is good and intelligence always good obviously. Alot of lifegain, possibly some lifesteal. Shield sucks for this so a two hander is probably preferred as low attack speed means an efficient use of AP

Exactly this, however I'd think removing the familiar and use the magic weapon that gives 1.5% extra lifesteal instead. What are your thoughts?
Edit: Also I think blizzard might be the perfect spell, constant damage over time where you stand and tank, also if you are prisoned or anything you still heal back.

in most cases for Wiz: yes. Ice armor is really nice if you have a lot of HP to begin with (pure vitality disabler wiz party style)
my hp's are pretty low, im in act3 with lfewer then1.5k HP. I'll give it a try, i use slow time with force wave and that ice armor freezes enemies, that complements it really well
the current build im using, going through hell pretty easy, group or solo.
Execution: Cast EArmor on, every step you take, cast a new hydra at the border of your screen. The moment you see the Hydra start attack people, cast a blizzard at that direction and start Magic missle into that side of the screen. Diamond skin + frost nova are defensive skills(for vortex high speed mortal etc...) works out nicely in group so you have 1 extra stun. Could be replaced with a Protective familiar +(/) teleport wormhole if solo. Blizzard is unneeded and could be replaced with magical weapon but i feel like 1 disable skill is always nice and you should find a usage for your arcane power some how.
As weird as it might sounds, this could be a very potential high level wizard build: Arcane-less skills and mostly defensive+passive buff. I did use a similar build to kill Butcher(Hell).

Btw, interesting skill set for first person who beat inferno
I am currently testing out a similar build(venom hydra based) but with Frost Nova instead of slow time.

That's not necessarily his build, he probably changed a few skills for Diablo. Slow Time is pretty good against him but it's not too useful in general.

I use this except Magic Weapon instead of nova (moar damage) and Electrocute (with lightning blast, which makes it go through everything). My passives are glass cannon, cold blooded and prodigy atm.

there is a reason why i prefer magic missle over electro cute. First of all the damage is much nicer. But the most important part is the range on the spells. Magic missle could hit target from 1.5 screen away from you. Meaning you could hit stuff even if you cant see them. That is huge bc a lot of time hitting that way wont trigger the aggro on the creep and you will get a lot of free hit + lot more time to kite. i really wana somehow fit Magicweapon in there but i simply cant. Nova is such an important skill: not only it stun EVERYTHING, it also reset the aggro on most bosses, force them to re do the target selection PLUS it cancel the action the boss currently carry out (you can stop pudge from hooking your teamate for example).
For passive, an arcane-less build, arcane dynamo is such a crucial spells. it boosts up your unter most important spells by 75% which is almost a double damage on that spells. Combine with a huge nuke such as blizzard or just apply it on hydra, suddenly you get a blizzard dealing 350% dmg over 6 seconds or a hydra dealing 50% dmg per shot. Those are HUGE. I am currently considering glass canon but i dont think i will ever get it until i start getting a shit load of regen gears on my end. Mean while TempFlux synergy well with magic missle and an additional slow on boss/champion fight is alway swell
