You have a lot of options for sources really. You just need to get the right one depending on what your build is.
yea, i meant what are popular builds that dont revolve around MM+ mirrorball, i currently have Tal's glare and mykens ball of hate and a disappointing +1 mirrorball but I don't know what build i should be going since it seems as if frozen orb isn't that good anymore and MM isn't an option.

I think MM/Mirrorball builds are probably the most popular Wiz builds atm.
Winter Flurry => Frozen Orb, Blizzard Firebird's Eye => Meteor Triumv and Glare lends itself to Arcane builds. Disint and/or Archon. Glare is probably more flexibility depending on how you can fit the other two Tal pieces into your item build. Personally, I think the Tal set is a bit overrated. Myken's Ball is junk imo.

Hey guys,
this seemed like a good place to ask for advice. This is my wizzard:

940k buffed. My main problem is that my wizzard just feels wrong. The builds feel clucnky, constantly out of mana and just boring to play. I'm really looking for any advice, and maybe a new build with some better synergy.
Ty!

you are using a fast speed dagger with frozen orb. switch to a slower wep or change to a mirrorball build

Each orb will feel very meaty (especially if you space them properly) and you won't burn through AP as quickly.

Alright, slower weapon. Got it.
ANnther question: what should I be aiming for? Atm I'm just stacking crit chance and crit damage, but surely there is a better build / goal to work to?

You are not sporting any +% dmg to elemental skills except on your source, and that doesn't include cold for your frozen orb. This is the primary way to increase your dps after you've peaked on CHD and CC.
You are still sporting rares in several spots and you don't have any set items. All your stats should improve as you replace these with set or leg pieces.
Your chest and pant gems are pretty low level, upping these to the next level or two provides a nice buff.

CDR Archon is probably most popular, followed by Disint and Torrent builds.
|
Not sure how I can get enough CDR given you probably want Vyr's pants/boots/gloves? Also is gesture of orpheus better than TF?

What exactly do you mean by meteor build? No MM? I'm curious about trying this, since I have a nice FB's eye that hasn't seen any use (due to mirrorball)

i like TF better because it procs tal rasha meteors (TF, sparkflint and arcana skills give me 3/4 of the meteors on basically most attakcs subject to CD), but without that i think if they are both excellent rolls, the gesture of orpheus is better.

I just found aughilds plan, I have mats to craft one piece, but I'd prefer to not craft something that I'd have to swap later on. So which piece of Aughilds am I most likely to use long term? (This is my profile if needed.) Thanks.

Aughild is usually shoulders and bracers combo + RoRG.

Then you can craft either bracers or helm depending on your setup, I'm using the helm right now since Strongarm Bracers are almost always BiS.

How are you guys maintaining Arcane Power with these other bracers? I'm running Reapers and I still sometimes run out.
|
Well it depends on your main spender, I use MM so I don't care. For Disintegrate/Arcane Torrent it's a combination of slow attack speed, AP generation (Tal's set, passive, templar), APOC, cost reduction, Storm Armor, etc.
|
t4 or less, i use storm armor - power of the storm. i also have 4apoc on source and tal rasha.
>t4, i just have 4apoc and tal rasha.
i normally do not use an ap generator spell. >t4 i have ap problems, t4 or less i usually dont have problems. if you have ap problems, throw in am ap generator spell (no passive) and you should be fine.
i play groups. with solo, you can use the paladin to help generate ap.

Echoing what the others said for disintegrate build.
Slow attack speed weapon helps, and in general you can find better mods than ias. Then however much you need of what big G said: storm armour, passive, paladin, reduced cost gear, APOC.
And as dafreak also said, on lower difficulty you in general spend more time running between mobs and less actually channeling, so you will have less AP problems, while at higher difficulty (or in team with weaker players) you will do more channeling per running, so you will run out more easily.
You can to some extent make up for it with play style as well. Rather than beam 2 guys for 1 second each, it is better to run 1 second so that you can beam both of them at once for 1 second. You kill them as fast, but for half the AP cost. You understand the principle. Also, the more people you can get in your beam, the more you get back from APOC, so it is actually cheaper to beam a large group than a single guy.

i would prefer to use the storm armor at all t, but survivability is an issue > t4 since i use disint-entropy and have to be in the face of monsters. i also tend to not use storm armor on t4 if i am the only one tanking (i.e., ranged wizards and dh).
