We're keeping it secret for now. Blizzard will probably nerf it soon anyway.
Trust me Inferno is not what you dreamed it would be, and neither is endgame Diablo 3. Everything is broken beyond belief. Broken skills, broken classes, broken loot dropping mechanics. This game is a mess.
For instance. I have stacked all the spirit gain I can and use the healing mantra HP shield. I can spam it like once every 2 seconds and thats 15 percent of the entire groups HP as a shield every time while also doing a lot of healing.
Features: 1. Magic Missile with Splitting + Prodigy for Arcane Power management. Just spam these when you're out of AP. 2. Frost Nova + Meteor for large packs. Freeze and AoE them down. At level 32 you can use Wave of Force with Forceful Wave rune to do the same initial damage of Meteor. 3. Arcane Orb for raw damage and extra AoE after Frost Nova. 4. Magic Weapon and Diamond Skin - Extra damage % and the best wizard spell. In early levels you want Familiar instead of Magic Weapon (12% vs 10%).
I've been liking this build a lot. Went through act 4 on normal with no sweat at all. VS Diablo I swapped Frozen Nova for Mirror Image for extra survivability.
Why would you use Magic Missile with splitting + Prodigy instead of, say, Electrocute with surge of power + Prodigy? Do the 3 magic missiles each proc prodigy where electrocute jumping still only procs once?
I like keeping my distance. I use magic missile mostly for long-range enemies and bosses... and I can stuterstep micro with that haha Also Electrocute is bugged with Prodigy. If it weren't, yeah, you probably would want that to have more AP.

Electrocute has the same range as magic missile and while harder you can still kite and stuterstep with it. It definitely does more dps to groups as well. Might even do more dps to single target just because of how many times it can hit.

Wait wait wait, please explain this in detail. I don't get it exactly/cant find the post, I really want to know can you explain the exakt setup it sounds extremely interesting!

It does feel buggy with prodigy. I run electrocute with surge or w/e it is, so I *should* be getting, (assuming I hit 3 targets), 7 AP regen per shot. However, the difference in how fast I regen AP when hitting 1 mob and hitting 3 suggests that the base 4 on prodigy isn't actually ever proccing, and I'm just getting 3 per shot from electrocute's rune. I might drop prodigy as a passive until this is fixed. The insane difference in how quickly I regen AP tells me that it can't be simply 5: 7 , it's got to be 1:3. Something has to be bugged. When I hit 3 targets with electrocute my AP refills ridiculously fast.
Haha that low HP tanking build sounds so borked/cheesy. I love it.
I've also come to the conclusion that star-pact is simply the best meteor rune hands down. Why bother with a paltry 30% damage increase, or a slow effect, or a shotgun meteor, when you can simply drop 5-6 meteors instead? Does anyone know if it still deals fire damage? It looks like it would deal arcane, (being purple and all), but I think it still deals fire because nowhere does it say anything about arcane damage.
I know, the meteor with the 7 small ones is just not only really really good, it's hilariously fun. After I started running that spell the game got basically 200% more fun, and has been for 20 levels or so still, am laughing loud constantly when using it. Strange eh... screen shaking all over oo, also compared to the other meteors you actually can hit the enemy cause it has a big aoe.
But that other low hp build, I really wanna try it sounds so much fun on inferno can't try finding it myself as server still is down. =/
Edit: Servers up, now I see... interesting for sure! 2 more levels and I'll be using that constantly, probably good with the illusionist passive as well?
wow the max healing with 35% shield sounds so broken xD... imagine all the armor skills on wizard stacked, wizard will suddenly became the best tank class in town. shees.
Okay so I did some maths and theorycrafting looking through all the spells and thinking what items might be key as well. Havn't read the original so this is just how I percieve it, are there any flaws or other things? I havn't 100% figured out all spells yet how to do it best. Was considering crit or such as a stat as well to synergize with other spells but it didn't add up from what I saw. Also, VERY important not to get vitality from any items.
Lifesteal/regen/your way to be tanky 1.5% enchanted weapon from magic weapon spell 2.5% dmg dealt returned as life or something similar possibly familar?? removes one hit every 6th second regen from galvanizing ward
Items regen from other items, should have a focus on intelligence/damage/regen/each hit gives life, rest is a bonus
primary archon teleport, don't know if any of them works or not, if so last one should be best mirror, don't know if any of them works or not, if so mocking device should be best some close fast dmg primary which is constantly cast and does enough damage with not too much mana spend magic weapon - blood magic
one of these or possible a another damage dealer with nuke familar - ancient guardian??? frost nova-cold snap/diamond skin/alternatives???
passive illusionist galvanizing ward glass cannon or astral presence/as or if you need "mana" regen
Video might still be processing so higher resolutions will come later. This is our 7k HP wizard tanking inferno for us. I think best group comp might be quad wizard.
30k face rip? No problem only does 2k to wizard. 40k basic melee attacks? 2k.
Regenerate 600 HP per second monk standing around you, be invincible to attacks like that. He has 7k life, but if he had 1,000 life, his survivability would actually increase.

what about situations outside of the boss, where you are easily taking more damage than you regen due to dozens of attacks at once vs just 1 boss?
On May 19 2012 15:10 Zyrnak wrote: Medrea, is it possible to pull this thing off solo or does it require a group for some buffs? From what I can see you've got:
Familiar - Ancient Guardian Energy Armor - Force Armor
Archon Ray of Frost Magic Weapon - Electric Magic Missle
No idea on the passives.
well, Galvanizing ward is likely the main one.
The other two probably dont matter. Glass cannon for more damage output, and I guess go with the cold damage one, as your primary nuke is going to be ray of frost + 12ap rune.
Read my post about the theorycrafting I cannot think of anything it doesn't have except possible primary/secondary weapon optimization.
More funnily, another positive aspect is that this build with illusionist passive will make you a diablo 2 sorceress with very good capability to teleport around the map constantly, search for chests, treasure golems etc. =) However if you want to play like this, mirror image might not work as it will slow your progress as you don't take the 15% damage as often, however will provide survivability vs large amounts of enemys which might one hit you.

Basically what I found out is that energy armor(with force armor rune) is a must to survive. I'm still not sure which hydra rune has more dps and if getting the passive arcane dynamo is worth it. This should also be viable solo if you swap blizzard rune to stun and take the paralysis passive.
How could you be taking blizzard over desintegrate... I'm guessing your barb and monk can't tank the mobs in act 1/2? I just run electrocute/magic missle and disnegrate generally, we destroy almost everything. I suggest you barb and monk get a lot more gear or act 2 boss will be a bitch.
Archon is amazingly fun to play around with aswell, i haven't since i got 40k dps but he was already ticking 50k ish around 20k dps.

Wish we had the time to do act 3 inferno, but we all got real life commitments now =*( Wizards are definitly best at act 2 belail, phase 2 was a joke with force armor and monk healing aura, and quad mage lawlz.

....
It is pretty gimmicky, yeah. Oh well
it only takes 3 hits to kill the mage (unless they got diamond shield up, then it actually soaks tha 33% of your max health ont he shield LOL) so groups usually attack at the same time. Fast attacking mobs also destroy a mage fast even with 600 regen.
