Hi there, I know that there was another thread for this Manga, but i thought it would be better to create a new one to draw attention of potential readers more efficiently. For those who want to read the old thread it's here : http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=88919
General description from me for "Claymore": +Emotional +Horror +Shocking +Bloody +Action (nice fights!!) + Show Spoiler +
So first of all, Claymore is a Manga written for young adults (i guess) as it is definitely not a Shounen Manga like Naruto and One Piece. To me it is similar to Berserk, which i also like, and is all about slaying monsters (YEAH !). The setting is in the medieval age, with the heroes being the "Claymores", who are Half-blooded Humans/Monsters that seek and destroy Fullblooded monsters on behalf for an unnamed organization. Most of the time they are getting their jobs by an agent of the described organization and carry out the mission single-handedly. The most interesting and appealing fact about them is that there are only female "Claymores" (oh yeah SEXY !), as only the female bodies of humans seem to be suited to get mixed with monster-blood. Therefore "Claymores" are artificially created beings that are made of a monster-body with a human heart. Generally "Claymores" appear to be emotionless, cold and arrogant, which reflects the fact that most of them have witnessed a tragedy in their former human lives, as like relatives got killed by monsters or witnessing the closest relative to be actually a monster that kills the whole family before their eyes. Through these tragedies "Claymores" most of the time became orphaned or castaways, who have lost their will to live. Exploiting these circumstances the unnamed organization collects these people and turned them into "Claymores", half-blooded human/monsters. In their new incarnation, "Claymores" serve the organization and work for them as hunters who kill monsters without showing any mercy.
The story follows the "Claymore" named Clare, who's parent was killed by a monster before her own eyes. She was then taken captive by that monster, in order for it to hide himself as her father, by taking the appearence of a man. Eventually, that monster was killed during a mission of the "Claymore" Teresa, who was appointed to wipe out the monsters in that village. Since the first sight with Teresa, Clare became attached to Teresa as she could see a soulmate of her in Teresa. However as a Claymore Teresa has abandoned all her emotions and refused Clare as a companion. Throughout a few chapters, however they both became familiar to each other and Teresa took care of Clare. What follows this relationship is a big spoiler that i don't want to reveal. The resulting fight that involved Teresa, the number 1 (strongest) Claymore at that time, was really touching and shocking to me, that lead me to create this thread. I hope the manga will also satisfy you as it did to me, so that we can discuss some plots I hope you'll enjoy it !

So far i have just read to chapter 25. I can recommend all the chapters up until now, but special recommendation goes to the chapters 12 ("Teresa of the faint smile")- 24("Marked for death").

I liked it before one of the top manga but now its going so off course and have like 5-6 stories going at the same.

really ? Well i just began to read it , up until now, it is really gooooood
Since it is only about 100 Chapters (continuing) long, I will read it until it gets boring won't take that much time hehe.

Yay! A claymore manga thread! I've been reading this one from the start up to the last one (which came out just today). New chapters are being released on a monthly basis. The latest one is rather short though, a pretty nice setup chapter for the ghosts of the North

Oh? You're going to make a thread about Claymore but haven't read to the most recent chapter yet? Well I won't spoil anything then, but while the story looks to be moving in a interesting direction with plots in recent chapters the pacing was slow on the most recent chapter so . Though I'll give Yagi a break since it's the holiday times.
Also the spoiler picture you posted kind of gives the wrong idea about Claymore. It has it's dark moments, but it's not that bad, the picture kind of suggests something more is going to happen.

This is one of my favorite manga. Sexy girls + blood and gore + medieval setting = winning combination.
Argg the "Marked for Death" volume is so shocking. + Show Spoiler +I can still remember the extreme emotion when Priscilla takes Teresa's head... shocking

Teresa of the faint smile baby! She never uses more than 10% of her powers on battle and manages to take on numbers 2-5 on one sitting.
+ Show Spoiler +Too bad she died too early on the story. But I guess It had to be because of the plot. I wonder what the other 90% of her power is. Super Saiyan I guess? lol

Obviously her power would be over 9000 !!!!
+ Show Spoiler +but I love it when characters die in a cool or tragic way, so it was fine for me hehe. Although i hate Priscilla now I hope they will kill her before the recent chapters, which i didnt have read yet *g*.

Well I searched a forum and found the old thread, which was abandoned 1 year ago, so i tried to create a new one to get new readers (like myself) get interested in this manga

This manga comes out once a fucking month and this months release wasn't satisfying. ARRRRRRRRRRR At least it comes out more frequently than Berserk :p Which i strongly recommend

Lol, so true. I was just about to rage about that. This month's release had as many pages as a weekly manga does, but I guess I can cut the guy some slack since it's january's issue and all...
P.S. I want Claire to come back already ='( ....

If you read on and find the 'twist' to the story... You'll realize there's a good chance that this manga's going to on for yearrrrrrrs which saddens me because 1 chapter a month is torture.
For me,
One Piece > Claymore > Naruto > Fairy Tail > Bleach

+ Show Spoiler +Do you guys think that Phantom Maria will be turned into a zombie for the team to fight? The past couple of chapters hinted that this would happen. Also, in the most recent chapter, wouldn't it be better if the "Flying" captains name was Nike?

Ya, this is why I stopped reading this manga, so that it can pile up. The bad part is that I forgot some of the key parts in the story. When I pick it back up I guess I have to read it with a wikipedia page open.

Claymores one of my favourite mangas. I wish the anime kept going ignoring that last dreadful episode.

Easily one of my fav mangas and animes. I wish they would go back and continue the anime.

Mmm, love the manga - finished the anime and then started to reread the manga. Pretty sad that they've derailed it a bit from it's original story - but it's still quite interesting!

Yup it's actually really good, read the last 6 chapters yesterday after taking a pause. I read manga occasionally which means that I read up on to ones I'm following like every 3 months or so, when I remember aah I was reading that thing. Waiting 1 month for each chapter is too annoying better just read a bunch at the same time.
|
i used to read them at onemang, but since the site went off, i'm still trying to get some time to read them all again. i'm planning on reading berserk too, so that's over 500 chapters of manga
+ Show Spoiler +o stoped reading the manga after rafaela and her sister made that zombie missile statue thing and priscilla went berserker on #1 and #2, anything interesting happened after that? did they uncovered any more about the organization?
|
I'm so pumped for Claymore now, things have started to move, it's all beginning to make more sense.
The only problem is that the delay between releases is becoming Berserk-esque.
