EDIT: Season 5 starts on 20 September Do you know "Parks and Recreation"? To me, it's the one of the best comedies in the US right now. I follow the show since the first season. Unlike other shows, season 1 was to me the worst season. But I'm glad I stayed for Season 2! Since then, I've never been disappointed. The fourth season started this week on NBC, so I thought I'd make a thread.
Parks and Recreation follows the Parks and Recreation department of Pawnee, in a mockumentary filming style (like The Office). The main character, Leslie Knope, Deputy Parks Director, is played by Amy Poehler (ex-SNL). Here is the recurring cast: + Show Spoiler [Cast] +
Amy Poehler Leslie Knope Rashida Jones Ann Perkins Aziz Ansari Tom Haverford Aubrey Plaza April Ludgate Chris Pratt Andy Dwyer Nick Offerman Ron Swanson Jim O'Heir Jerry Gergich Retta Donna Paul Schneider Mark Brendanawicz Adam Scott Ben Wyatt Rob Lowe Chris Traeger
Personally, my favorite character is Ron Swanson. The guy is hilarious! One of his quotes: "I'm not interested in caring about people. I once worked with a guy for three years and never learned his name... Best friend I ever had. We still never talk sometimes."
So, does anybody here like the show as well? What did you think of the first episode of Season 4?
This show is AMAZING! You should check out "Up All Night" that new show as well if you like this humor. For my GF and I thursday is insane, with Parks & Rec / Community in a row.

I love Ron Swanson
The first episode of season 4 was great!
Thanks, I'll check it out!
And I agree with everyone saying it's better than The Office, especially the latest seasons. I hope we will still have a few awesome seasons for Parks and Rec!

Sorry... But I couldn't let Parks and Recreation not have his thread on TL another minute. :D

Amazing show.
Ron Effin Swanson best char ever
I love me some Ron Swanson.
Food and Stuffs.
For anyone who hasn't watched the show, I started watching from Season 2 and on, the first Season is super different and apparently doesn't hit it's stride until the 6th episode (1st Season Finale). I never watched the first season and I'm not sure you need to.
Community and Modern Family are jealous because I'll never love them as much as Parks and Rec.
Ron fucking Swanson is the best character on television right now. This is a fact.
Leslie has gotten a lot deeper as a character, and Ben's awkwardness is a great addition to the show. April and Andy are the cutest couple on TV. Also fact.
As a West Wing fan, it hurts to say that Chris is literally Rob Lowe's best role. But it too, is a fact.
And anyone who has watched Human Giant before (sketch comedy show on MTV, a lot better than it sounds) knows Aziz Ansari can flat out destroy any scene he's in. case in point, Food rakes.

I forgive you.
Its just funny...i already wrote half the op, saved it in a word-file, did some other things, look back into tl and there is a p&r thread :D

Dont you dare let this thread fall off after a week >:/
This weeks episode was hilarious. I love this show.
Nick Offerman was awesome this week, but overall everyone did great this episode. Leslie drinkin' with Tammy One and Tammy Zero (:D), and especially her few drunk acting pieces were absolutely golden.
Entertainment 720 continues to be the most f'ed up business ever started, but hey...free iPads, weeeee :D
Overall, yeah, another fantastic episode. P&R continues to be my favorite comedy of the season (as it has been last season)
In addition to a great community episode this week, i also loved P&Rs episode.
And i have to admit...having to choose, i probably would want to be a pawnee goddess too :D (at least until that "Swanson"-Club was initiated !)
Also the whole "Treat yo self"-story was pretty good, in that it showed a little bit more of a serious side of the implications of last seasons finale. Sad batman was genius.
All in all...great 50th episode.
// almost forgot: no entertainment 720 this episode makes me sad panda :/ :D
// almost forgot: no entertainment 720 this episode makes me sad panda :/ :D
I think the "DJ" with the boombox was part of entertainment 720 but if you mean that John Ralphio wasnt in the episode then i can agree with you. John Ralphio is probably my favorite character.
My girlfriend got me into this show two days ago and I watched all three seasons. What a great show with really lovable characters. Swanson's my favorite though, what a total badass.
On another note, Aubrey Plaza and Rashida Jones are such babes, god damn! I hope they give the casting director a bonus for those pickups

I think you mean Jean Ralphio
best character behind ron love the episode where he keeps failing at rapping so goooooooooooooood
Also, this show NEEDS to get more popular. It's probably my third favorite show ever, after Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Tim and Eric Awesome Show. And I just found out about it two days ago! Show some love TL. And if you're turned off by the name or the first couple episodes, keep watching. You won't regret it.
Poehler and Scott have an absolutely great chemistry and this episodes "theme" was perfect.
The whole denmark/peru-warfare was genius, andy trading all of finnlands boring stuff for all of the worlds lions, i literally rolled on the floor laughing. Further highlights: THE MOON?!, rons toenails and so much more
Its amazing how great of a series this continues to be, i hope NBC doesnt pull a "fox" with this show.
P&R is seriously getting creepy (in the most positive way possible) in terms of quality.
I havent' seen a series in quite a while that had such a "run" of absolute high caliber episodes like P&R had in the last couple of weeks. Kind of scary. On the other hand, Community's 2nd seasons also had quite a run and well look where it is at now :/
Nevertheless...this weeks episode was perfect in really every single way possible.
When i heard that "Clear eyes, full hearts - cant loose"-quote i literally cried out in joy :D
This show is so amazing, I loved every part in this weeks episode. Tom, Andy and Ron are just so hilarious in every episode. So glad to see Jean Ralphio again!!
Ok, in the latest episode there's a cameo for Robin Thorsen aka Clara in The Guild - a webseries run by the incomparable Felicity Day. Robin Thorsen aka Clara in The Guild is the 13th member of the PCP.

- Please don't take the fact I'm calling her "the fat chick..." as a derogatory comment, I mean no disrespect and that's really the only describable trait I can thing of. She's also blonde.
I felt like this show bombed the first season. But I've recently been watching the subsequent seasons with my gf and I regularly laugh out loud. I really life Leslie's complicated naivete.
i really love this show. some eps are really hilarious, like the one where leslie takes the old parks and rec division heads including ron out to lunch in this park. so damn funny. Ron: "Im hungry" Leslie: "Okay, well, don't be such a baby - I cooked you some bacon for a trail snack. Ron: I ate it already." Leslie: "What?!" Ron: "I could smell it in your purse before I even parked my car. And now it's gone - and I hate everything!"

All three stories had me laughing out loud A LOT. ( i could list several of the scenes..but i would end up telling nearly the whole episode :D) This was once again, P&R at its best.
Incredible season thus far. Of the 13 episodes aired there were at least 7 or 8 that could be potential "top3"-episodes for the series.

Im at episode 5 now and somehow it just doesn't seem to be very funny
Yes. I found season 1 to be dreadful myself and am very glad I continued watching it. I personally consider it the best comedy on TV in quite a while, but season 1 was simply not funny and weird. Stick with it, its really worth it, if you start liking it in season two it only gets better.
Ron is the best however April is doing a good job of bringing this show down. She is awful in every scene. Enough of the Jim (from the office) like stares at the camera please! The drunken scene was so badly acted it made me cringe.

Yeah she was funny for like one season..and now her acting just bothers me SO MUCH. But andy makes up for it hah

I still think she is one of the funniest characters.
2nd: Season 4 has finished, and while it may not have been as brilliant as season 3, it still was one of, if not, the best comedy on air this fall-season. (New Girl and Community might've got a point here too)
Ron has been as epic as ever and probably had one of the most memorable moment this year. And while i love Leslie, Ben, Tom, April and all the other...i must say, Andy has become by far my favorite character.
He is more and more on a way to be a real-life homer simpson :D And c'mon, who does not love Burt Macklin, FBI. ?
Season 5 is back! I must admit i'm a little disappointed there hasn't been much discussion of it yet of this absolutely fantastic comedy. What does everyone think of the first two episodes so far?

I thought the newest (episode 2) was kind of weak, but I really liked the season premiere. I think Ben and April together on their own are kind of a weak team, so that might end up being an issue... I'm hoping one or both of them gets homesick and goes back.
'serts are what I call deserts. Tray-trays are entrays. I call sandwiches sammys, sam-douzels or Adam Sandlers. Air conditioners are cool-blasterZ. With a Z. I don't know where that came from... I call cakes big-ol'-cookies. I call noodles long-ass-rice. Fried chicken is frie-frie-chicky-chick. I call eggs pre-birds or future birds. Root-beer is super water. Tortillias are bean-blankies. And I call forks - wait for it - food-rigs!
Un-necroing this thread because I LOVE Parks and Rec. Also Season 7 started some weeks ago.
I caught up with all 7 episodes so far and I guess I was expecting them to follow the same formula the last 6 seasons where they're all doing random shenanigans in the Parks and Rec department again. But this time theyre all gone from the department and just doing their own thing. Takes a little bit getting used to, but its still great.
I literally actually teared up during Ron's story. Goddamit man, thats 6 seasons worth of emotions built up for the guy I love the most.
Guys I miss that I want to come back are ofc Ann and Chris. Idk what else to talk about. Dammit where are you Parks and Rec fans!@
Just finished watching the last episode right now.
Wow, absolutely amazing. One of my favorite TV shows of all time, in a genre that I wouldn't have expected to enjoy so much. Amazing work for the crew, really touching finale. Will really miss all the characters.
