Season 1 of Legend of Korra is over! It was definitely a lot different than the original series, but it was still very enjoyable. There is one more season in the works, which is planned to be the final season. This thread is to discuss the previous season of LoK, or to speculate about the upcoming season. I will also be posting news (such as release dates, teaser videos) to the OP as they are released.
The series will focus on Korra, a teenage girl from the Southern Water Tribe and the current incarnation of the Avatar, who, according to the president of Nickelodeon, will be "hotheaded, independent, and ready to take on the world".[4] She has already mastered Water, Earth, and Fire, but has yet to master Air.[7] The character was partly inspired by Avatar Kyoshi of the original series, who the creators say was well-liked among fans. To avoid repetition of Aang's adventures, the show will be set in a single place, called Republic City, a steam-punk metropolis inhabited by benders and non-benders of all nations and founded by Aang and Zuko after the 100-year world war of the original series. The city's police are Metalbenders (a subset of Earthbenders), taught their art by Toph Bei Fong of the original series, and led by her daughter. The city's most popular sport is pro-bending, which sets teams of benders against each other. The conflict of the first season will center upon a group of anti-benders, called the Equalists, who use chi-blocking to subdue their enemies. A concept drawing of the city, released with the announcement of the series, shows the city's design inspired by Shanghai in the 1920s and 1930s, Hong Kong, Manhattan, and Vancouver. In the show, Korra will learn Airbending from Tenzin, youngest child of Aang and Katara, and will contend with an anti-bender revolution in Republic City. Korra's final design was revealed at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Convention, along with her companion Naga. It was also mentioned that Aang found a small colony of flying bison after the war, and that the second season will include ring-tailed winged lemurs.
The Last Airbender is seriously one of my favourite shows, about once a year I usually relapse and re-watch the whole series again. I can just tell how good this is going to be!
I'm really looking forward to this. Wikipedia has said for ages that it's 24 episodes cut into 2 seasons which I can live with and I'm a pretty big fan of the idea of setting it in a city.
Hopefully it will be as good as the other 3 books.
Avatar got better and better but took a real cliff dive in its finale.
Still, in terms of television for kids it stands head and shoulder above the competition. I think it is a good example that a kid show doesn't need to be a stupid show. You can treat kids with a little respect, they pick up on more than you think.

I agree that Shyamalan completely butchered the movie. It had a decent fight scene at the end, but the rest was utter crap. It's really a shame too, as I think that Avatar: The Last Airbender had one of the best stories of any book/movie/show that I've ever seen. Can you imagine how amazing it would've been if they got someone like Peter Jackson to direct it? That is a highly unlikely scenario though, unfortunately T.T

Avatar: The Last Airbender was an insanely popular series that aired for 3 seasons on Nickelodeon. It was a plot-driven series that revolved around its wonderful storytelling. This attracted a lot of older fans, despite being on a kids' cartoon channel.
