Well the "responsible" thing to do is to tell a story about Han/Leia's kids and Skywalker's kids; and have Hamill, Ford, and Hamilton playing their characters at their current ages. Recasting for those key roles would be terribly received imo. But it's going to cost major $$ to get them back.
Velocirapture said: It can't be worse than 1-3 so I don't see what harm could come from this. Seeing as the quality of Star Wars has continually diminished with the newer movies, and "remastering" the origninals; there is plenty of room for this to go completely sideways and continue to alienate the Star Wars fanboys who grew up with the originals.

...Oh goodness. Film adaptations of Karen Traviss's novels. Please no. >_<' How about Fate of the Jedi instead? That could be fun :D
I stopped reading further beyond "Invincible" after I tortured myself through LotF, but I still have the first few books just in case for... well, just in case. Is the series any good?

This and Disney don't mess up with it. If need help for story line just play Tie Fighter

Well there always was supposed to be a 7-9, right. Hopefully they take the good books and not f it up TOO bad! Also, I miss X-wing and TIE fighter. I miss everyone having a joystick w/ a db9 connector lol.

I feel like Lucas pretty much hit rock bottom with episodes 1-3 so there's nowhere to go but up, I guess.
Don't really know what to think about it. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, and hope it's good.

It's not bad, a lot better than anything Karen Traviss has written. It's feels a little bit like fan service, but it's a lot of fun.
It gets kinda Lovecraftian too, which is awesome.

Episode 3 was actually pretty good. I would rate it higher then Return of the Jedi at least, and episode 2 was not terrible. It was really just episode 1 that was awful.

I am excited about this! I don't care if the movies are good or bad. As long as it's SW I'll watch them. How bad can it get? I even enjoyed watching ep1. Just can't get enough of SW.

I'm afraid not, 3 wasn't on the same level as 6, although it wasn't far behind, the plot just had too many holes, and completely depended on basically every character to behave incompetently and out of character too often (not to mention all the shot-reverse shots *shudder*). Episode 2 was just plain awful, don't get me started on the acting.

The real problem now is does blaster fire get more accurate? Will stormtroopers continue to be unable to shoot straight down a hallway?
|
When I'm a trained military corps I always miss the guys 10 feet away from me. Yep, definitely no plot holes in that at all.

The balance was restored to the force! What the fuck!
I seriously dislike the idea though. SW movies are a masterpiece that should stay as immaculate as it is right now. No need for Disney to come in and mess shit up. At least I hope the script would be written by George Lucas O_o.

Go look at the Walmart toy section.
Also, Dark Horse comics are rebooting their Star Wars universe and PRETENDING THE CURRENT EXPANDED UNIVERSE NEVER HAPPENED. Just when the Legacy comics were getting good!
If Disney goes that route i will be one alienated and angry dude

Maybe it is because I'm not a super SW fiend or just watch not expecting a lot but I enjoyed 1 and 3. Meh I doubt can disney can do that bad only fear I have is like with other is being pg-13. Course the old ones were too but disney does more like PG a lot of new movies push PG-13 to the limit doubt this will. Meh.

Nah... that's okay... He should probably stay away from it if it has any hope.

I liked 1-3 too and I actually do read many of the NJO books. I feel like it's just another case of the "original is better" sort of deal that people get all worked up about. I enjoy SW lore. There are plenty of plot holes in all the series, but that doesn't take away from the "cool" aspects that most people enjoy... x_x

I hope they let episode 1-6 be, and start something new. There are really good books about darth bane, they could do a movie about the younger years of Master Yoda, there are several really good stand alone books on Mace Windu, Kit Fisto and other Jedi Masters.
This could be so awesome, I hope they don't fuck it up.

I have faith in Disney. They just coughed up huge for this franchise, at the very least they'll do something the fans will go crazy over. I'm really interested in seeing how a SW movie without Lucas at the helm will turn out. Quite exciting.

I'm afraid Disney is going to turn this into a Call of Duty thing.
Release a new movie every X years.

wow this will be interesting. I never liked the story of Star Wars (be honest the death star is just stupid from a military point of view and the whole Yoda/ObiWan/Anakin/Padme thing just doesn't make any sense) but hey the lightsaber and space fights are fucking awesome.
I think there will be no Yuuzhan Vong, because it would take to long to explain that. Alone the backstory of them with the travel through the galaxies and their history would need 1 1/2 hours of the first movie. And no real dark vs light sight fight? Most of the mainstream audience will not like it.
And Thrawn? I don´t think too because the whole moff thing was never explained in episode 4-6. If you only watched alls the movies you think that there are just vader and the emporer leading the empire. And remember the end of the "new" BlueRay/DVD version of episode 6, the whole galaxie was celebrating at the end like the war was completely over.
I think it will be future (500 years after episode 6) and the story will be that yoda come back from the dead to revenge for his cgi disaster
