It will definitely be farrr better than anything Lucas could have come up with. "You can't win Anakin, I've got the high ground!" He has apparently been working on this with Lucasfilm for months. This gives me hope that Lucas has had major story input. Let's not kid ourselves, Lucas may not be the best script writer but his ability to craft a story is legendary. With Lucas at least co-writing the story and an Oscar level screenwriter like Arndt, I'm actually pumped for this movie. I never said Lucas made bad stories. The original trilogy is really great because of the story. It's just Lucas can't write a SCRIPT to save his life. Thus with Arndt writing the script, I'm really excited. I believe that his failure to direct actors is what causes his screenwriting to seem so awful. But to be completely honest, I think a good actor can sell any line. A New Hope had really incredible actors with a mediocre script, and boy they sold those lines. "But I was heading into Toshi station to pick up some power converters!" Few actors today could sell that line (or anything Obi-Wan says) without a good director.
Not exactly. The screenwriting is horrible too, it's just Lucas also controls how the actors say stuff as well. So you end up with a shitty script and bad acting due to them needing to do it how Lucas wanted. You never got any creative things like Han Solo saying "I know" back to Leia in the prequals, because Lucas would never have allowed people to go against his shitty script.
I actually like the prequals visually when it comes to the fight scenes. I'm pretty easily entertained by fight scenes if they're decently done. I like eye candy. That's the main reason I like the prequals lol. But the script is an entirely different matter altogether and was poorly done.

Not exactly. Lucas never controlled the actors, as most fans know his only advice was "faster, more intense." So blaming any acting on poor actor direction (in that he was telling them how to perform) is a falsehood.

There are even behind the scenes documentaries in the dvd set that specifcially show lucas telling the actors how to act in all of the talking scenes, and them doing exactly what he tells them. Obviously fight scenes like the anakin vs obi-wan fight were all the actors doing after months of practice, but that has nothing to do with the actual dialogue of the script lol.

It's a well known fact that Lucas dictated every single thing with the prequels. Not only that but all the actors had to work with bluescreens. Do you have any idea how difficult that would be? Not only that but George told them what to do, how they should feel. They had no room for their own acting talent. Haiden Christensen is a decent actor but he was god awful in the prequels because of it. It almost ruined his career.
I suggest you watch behind the scenes videos so you can see Lucas TELLING the actors what to do and how to feel. Sometimes they had such a dumbfounded look on their face like "This guy can't be serious...".

I don't recall ever seeing Lucas tell an actor how to deliver a line. A director giving context is one thing, what you're suggesting is something else.

It would be nice to have them in cameo appearances if they aren't exactly right for bigger parts.

wait... Is this movie gonna be after 'the return of the jedi? Or after the revenge of the sith? Because if it's after the return of the jedi i'm really curious about the story, I mean, the empire is totally defeated lol. And Luke is supposed to be last jedi. What will the story be about ? O_O

Yes this should be after the old movies, these new movies will be the most current in the timeline. I'd guess it would have to be about Luke rebuilding the Republic and finding more jedi's and the sith returning.

Actually the empire isn't totally defeated. It winds up taking years still to retake coruscant, and the imperial remnant is never actually wiped out. A cease-fire is declared around 15 years after the battle of Endor, and it is then that the Empire concedes defeat, although it isn't assimilated or destroyed as a political entity. It isn't even forcibly disarmed, and it's a good thing too, since the Empire saves the New Republic's ass a few times during the Yuuzhan Vong war (I suppose it's the Galactic Alliance around this time) and later on too.
There are tons of stories after Endor where the empire nearly completely crushes the New Republic and is barely thrown back.

I read some of those books, and I somewhat enjoyed them, but I hope they don't bring that race into the new movie. Maybe they'll do it well, but it seems risky to me.
Of course, they'll have to do something different. A movie where they're licking their wounds and rebuilding the fleet isn't that exciting.

It is a trilogy they have 3 movies to tell a complete story and take it to the end. First movie could be the rebuilding and introduction of the new (or old) bad guys.

From the Episode VII FAQ on IMDB (not sure where they got this info from though):
Will this follow the plot of the books by Timothy Zahn?
No, as Episode VII will be an original story not based on the events of any of the EU continuity

What? Oh shit, that could be bad...
The yuuzhan vong and imperial remnant/return of the empire plot series are amazing, and the yuuzhan vong in particular could use some exploration anyway.

Not to mention that they are considered canon. They could end up with a lot of angry fans
though I guess the new movies could happen long after Episode VI, after the Thawn trilogy etc, which would also makes more sense for old Han Solo, Luke and Leia

Suppose to be 40 years after, or so I've heard.
