This isn't really anime so I didn't tought it belonged on the anime thread.
Production company Rooster Teeth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rooster_Teeth_Productions) makers of Red vs. Blue, among other comics and machinima, just presented a trailer for an animated series called RWBY (Red White Black Yellow - pronounced RUBY). With an anime inspired aesthetic the series seem to revolve around four female characters based on classic children stories (the one on this trailer is clearily based on Little Red Riding Hood).
No info on the format, lenght or focus of the series yet. But this post:
The trailer looked pretty high quality and I loved the fact that she used the recoil in most of her swings. Hopefully we'll get an awesome anime style series maybe without all the anime cliches.
Was a really cool trailer and I enjoyed it. Will be looking out for this. Never really watched that much Red V Blue besides what my friends who play a bunch of xbox/Halo would show me.
After checking out the link, pretty funny that his ketchup stained napkin is the starting point for their new world.

Just because something is animated, doesn't make it anime.
Whether or not it falls under that category, is still to be seen. Art style is only one aspect of whether or not you can call something anime.
Anime is the equivalent of a Cartoon except you call it "anime" because it is a cartoon developed in Japan. Does it fit that criteria because if it does it's an anime, that is it's definition.
"the term is defined as a style of animation originating in Japan, which often features colorful graphics, vibrant characters and action-filled plots with fantastic or futuristic themes.[2] The intended meaning of the term sometimes varies depending on the context"

Did we watch the same trailer? I was agreeing with you until about a minute in when they showed her face. Those big cartoon eyes make it anime all by themselves. Not to mention the over-the-top action scenes with motion lines flying all over the place, little girls with big weapons, monsters, gratuitous blood, and so on. The art style is very cool, I like the flower petal / blood contrast, the fact that the scene was only in three colors, the featureless monsters, the fight choreography, and all sorts of things, but as soon as that hood came off, it stopped being animation and starting being anime.

Geeze seems to fit hahaha
Except that this video is not developed in Japan.. Which oddly enough is half of your criteria. Not to mention that you make no distinction between the style of the video and the video itself, but whatever. Considering this is made by a company known mainly for it's machinima, even if you want to call it anime, it more than deserves its own thread. I have no intention of drudging through the anime thread and this still interested me.
It's sad that we have more posts in this thread commenting on whether this is anime or not and deserves its own thread or not then discussing how awesome this is.

It wasn't made in Japan.
We know almost nothing about the characters or plot bar this short clip. It would be a bit premature to make any lasting conclusions off of a 3minute clip (that may or may not have any actual relation to the content of the show).

style of animation originating in Japan*** It's not saying from japan, the style though was originated in Japan. Anyway this argument treded long enough, it's definitely anime

You definitely didn't distinguish between the style and the video which is why I pointed that out as odd to begin with. How about we settle with that it's animated and that's about as far as some people can distinguish. Hell by your definition I could record myself playing ICO and claim it's anime.
More to the point, I wonder if this'll actually have voiceovers. I actually wouldn't mind if it didn't. It's obviously going to be much more challenging to convey a story but the end result could be massively epic.
