Just got back from a 12am viewing (just released here in the UK).
Really enjoyed it, expected the film to be shit when it was announced, trailers didnt look great either, saw great IMDB ratings / reviews online and decided i would go, so i went in with little expectations.
Well the film really blew my low expectations out of the water, amazing cinematics / CGI (which actually look SHIT in the trailers) and a solid performance from most of the cast. Storyline is decent too, im a fan of warcraft so im probably biased but it definitely holds up for most fans of the universe and seems like it does a good job of introducing everything to make itself "standalone" for newcomers.
The bad points, well i guess at times it was a little cheesy especially the magic, you can buy into it if you know WoW because its very similar to the game, but the effects themselves looked "over the top" for the most part. Some of the acting was pretty mehhh, the delivery of some things was pretty weak (but the two main culprits end up dead so, yay?)
Standout parts of the film for me were the Orcs look, the sheep & the gryphons.
I highly recommend seeing it, i agree with much of what Hryul said, me and my wife were definitely left wanting more and its a great fantasy movie, added bonus if youre a fan of warcraft to begin with.

fuck you guys have me so hyped. I gotta see it in theatres!

i really enjoied it, and surprisingly my friend who in his life only touched ice escape enjoied it aswell. it was entertaining and it looked far far far far far far better than i would have imagined based on the trailer. i really can not understand how movies like capt. america who fail to impress me with their story get super high ratings and this one is getting trashed, especially from the us

Saw the movie in the theaters yesterday, and as most others have posted, I went in with low expectaions. But as a warcraft player since the 90's and and general fan of the fantasy genre, I had to see it.
And boy was it worth it, would go as far as to say I loved it... Great effects, CGI, good "human" actors or what you would call it, and a really decent story. It was entertaining for the full 120 mins, and when the movie was done, I was surprised at how fast it went, and I cannot wait for more, I hope they dont use 3+ years for the next one.
PS: I saw the movie in 3d, and I think it made it even better.
TLDR: You like warcraft or fantasy movies, GO FUCKING SEE IT!! ;-)

The movie works really good as both a "Warcraft movie" and an introduction to the Fantasy world it lives in.
The good:
- The orcs. They're not "the evil" but get a really nice character development. CGI also looks really nice on them. - The orcs pt2: Orc on Orc action is really awesome to watch! - The story: Well, since it's not good humans vs bad orcs, we're getting some nice story twists (for those who are not complaining that we have the 35th retcon) - Travis Fimmel (Lothar) is really good, I also liked Ben Schnetzer (Kadhgar), but I can see that some people might find him annoying. - The immersion of magic also works nice. it never feels like it was forced into the world. - the design (mostly orcs, but also alliance): it really pays off that the movie has a metric ton of art to draw from. - the fanservice: murlocs and a sheep!
the bad: - The trailers: i saw two of them and they really are shit compared to the actual movie - the alliance storyline is mostly bland. Dominic Cooper as LLane Wrynn isn't a good king of stormwind. - Cheesy dialogues: well we expected that, but it doesn't make it any better. (it's not as bad as it could be though) - Lothar's son: i'm not looking the actor up, he doesn't work as himself, he's just a story vehicle. which leads to: - bloated characters. we have a lots of characters, so most don't get "development" and I think one or two scenes more could have helped them. - the cast: I really liked a lot of them, but I think one or two guys with more experience could have helped the whole cast. Like Edward James Olmos in BSG. - "the beginning": Well, we know it's the first of hopefully more movies to come, but i didn't want the movie to end. (well, actually thats a good thing?!) - the final fight: meh (you know what i mean when you see it)
So why am I disappointed: I could name a lot of good things but i always could have a "but". There are really parts that don't work and parts that do.
I would rate it a 7.5/10 and say: it's not a "must see", but a really nice high fantasy movie. A good recap, and I agree with most of what u say here. Id personally rate it around 8/10 (whatever). This should probably have been a 3 hour movie or something just to make some of the negatives you have pointed out better, but I guess blizzard is a bit scared to make it "to long" for the general public to go see it (if that made any sence)

Hmmm... it seems like I actually have to watch it then. A lot of recaps said it is like 6/10 to 7/10 if you do not know Warcraft, and actually better if you do. I guess that should be enough to give it the benefit of the doubt.
Though I have a really low tolerance for cheesy dialogues... I hope it is not too bad?
Hopefully they will have an OV screening here. I really cannot watch it in german.

Much better than expected. People are right when they say that trailers look like shit compared to the actual movie. Orc CGI and looks are one of the strongest parts in the movie. The human King Llane is the weakest imo.

didn't have any expectations, but watched anyway as a wc3, wow player from the start
movie is a bit cheesy and dialogue is a bit meh for my taste, but overall it's enjoyable if you like the games.
biggest flaw imo is that they tried to put so much story into the movie that everything seems a bit rushed. in the end i was a bit sad that the movie was over, wanted to see more.

Very enjoyable to watch but the Warcraft 1/2 player in me is shaking his head at the massive and unneeded story changes + Show Spoiler +Small stuff like Dalaran floating or Garona being half drenai (to bring it inline with WoW's retcon) and Stormwind having Gryphons I can understand but they screwed with the broad stroke enough that there is no Warcraft 2 at this point ><

I walked out after like 30-40 minutes. Wow, this was so utterly bad, i actually felt insulted.

I thought about walking out at "Crank 2". But endured it to tell/warn my grandsons.
Was very sceptical and annoyed my friends before going into it. Still not saying "must see" but it was an enyojable experience with some inside jokes as an old Warcraft and WoW player. Actually thinking about reading some books now to get to know the Warcraft Universe story better.
Overall positive surprised with very little expections. Friends with high expections are satisfied. Before walking out I would use the 2 hours/10 euros to sleep ;-)

Different tastes, the first I found fantastic. The second terrible. Friends thought different. It's ok.

Surprised at the relative positivity in here. :O
Makes me excited to see it in a week!

- The orcs pt2: Orc on Orc action is really awesome to watch!
This isn't meant as an NSFW-comment, right ? ... riiight ?
(wanted to go with my kids next week...)

Yep, huge orc dick to V right at the start of the film :D No theres no NSFW.
You know the more i think about it the more one particular part of the film annoys me.
+ Show Spoiler +When the queen takes Garona something to eat/drink while shes locked up, she gives her the drink and Garona - wannabe mighty orc warrior - takes it with all the grace of an upper class lady, she sticks out her pinky finger while drinking. I mean what the fuck ? This is a race of warmongering savages from another world and this ones got table etiquette to rival the queen?
y'all probably think im stupid if you read that spoiler.
