Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. A soldier fighting in a war with aliens finds himself caught in a time loop of his last day in the battle, though he becomes better skilled along the way. imdb
Saw it last night. It was fun and entertaining. I enjoyed this one more than X-Men.
The trailer I watched at the movies last night looked so terrible and cliche. It's too bad, I feel like any other actor besides Tom Cruise would make this movie semi-watchable.
A lot of good buzz about this movie so far. I've been interested with this movie since the first trailer. Nice to know that the trailers editor didn't follow the dumb trend of showing all the money shots or "good" parts in the trailers according to reviews. It would have been cool if they kept the original Japanese title. And Emily Blunt's character wielding a helicopter blade as a large sword is awesome.
My comment in the other thread: I saw it [on Thursday] and sincerely enjoyed it. I don't know how it compares to the book/manga since I haven't read them, but it was an entertaining flick. Cruise and Emily Blunt play their roles convincingly, there are impressive visuals (at some points maybe a bit less shaky-cam would have been nice, but I wasn't distracted by it), the time loop is handled pretty well, the aliens are threatening, and you don't get bored. There are probably some aspects of the plot which can be criticized, but nothing which prevented my enjoyment. Don't hesitate to ask more precise questions and I'll answer with spoiler tags if necessary.
Oh wow... that trailer is WAY better than the one they have been showing in theaters. I wasn't really getting why people were thinking this would be good based on the other trailer, but this one makes it look a lot more interesting.
Also... god damn does Emily Blunt look good in this...
I just saw this yesterday. It's a well executed action/scifi flick w/ some cool fx choreography and design but you really should make sure you suspend your disbelief. The ending is the worst, though.
