Honestly though I think this might be the best Spidey we've seen yet, he's nerdy but got a mouth on him and excellent action with him really hyped for his solo movie and watching this character grow up :D. And damn BP is gonna get some serious hype for his solo project! Overall a hype start to MCU's Phase 3.
Summed up Positives: - Spiderman - Black Panther - Antman - Action scenes and humor. Negatives: - Expected a bigger emotional finish even though the one we got was adequate I felt like maybe a slightly bigger oomph was necessary but being a Marvel movie and them being slightly more on the happier side of things didn't suprise me.
Every person I came across says Spidey and panther are best in civil war . soo long since we get a decent Spidey on screen

+ Show Spoiler +definitely the best spidey. he channeled the tobey look and was mouthing off with andrew garfield's quips. best of both worlds hyped for spidey homecoming for sure.

NO SPOILERS below, unless between spoiler tags.
I thought the movie was absolutely phenomenal as a superhero movie. It delivered in virtually every aspect I expected it to.
- The plot was pretty tight and well-written, with unexpected developments - The characters were all coherent and true to themselves, and their motivations were clear and justified (compare this to the mess that was Batman vs Superman in this respect) - All characters shone and had their moment(s) in the spotlight, with the main characters obviously having their rightful place at the center of the plot -- quite an amazing feat considering how difficult this can get with a big cast - They managed to make the way the different powers/abilities worked against each other believable - The fights were flawlessly choreographed - The cinematography was on point (although not particularly memorable) - The humor was perfectly well dosed: not too frequent, and present when needed to provide levity -- compare this to Age of Ultron, where the main villain couldn't resist making quip after quip, removing almost all sense of dread (I know this was due to his personality being partially built upon Stark's, but still, the result was disappointing) - Like in the comics, there is a true political debate on vigilantes and the state's monopoly on the use of force underpinning the plot. It really is a "mature" plot in this regard. Both sides have arguments with real merit. - Despite having to deal with a huge number of characters, they still managed to expand the existing MCU (I won't reveal anything here) - On an emotional level, the film worked great, especially if you already feel a connection to the characters.
Honestly, I loved it. It tops Captain America: The Winter Soldier as my favorite Marvel movie (the original Avengers is still my favorite "spectacle" when it comes to its final battle, but overall I feel these two are better movies). All of the pieces fit incredibly well together. It is truly exemplary in terms of building a coherent and integrated universe -- DC, please take note. I do still have three minor points of criticism, but they're really details:
+ Show Spoiler [Minor points of criticism] +- As others have pointed out, during the big fight you could tell that both sides were somewhat pulling their punches. I disagree that this was the case throughout the movie, though, since Black Panther clearly wanted to kill Bucky. It also did not prevent me from enjoying the fight in the slightest, as the point was not whether or not anyone would get killed, but whether or not Cap's team would be prevented from going after Zemo. - The scene where Stark went to seek Parker's help slightly broke the rhythm of the movie, considering the urgency of their situation. It did have a major payoff, since Spidey was great in the fight. - Did I misunderstand something or did the US Secretary of State somehow end up as warden of the Raft?
I warmly recommend it to anyone who's into superhero movies, especially if you're familiar with the Marvel universe (this obviously really helps in terms of connecting with the emotional beats of a movie like this).
edit: also, the actions scenes take place during the day and everything is fully and easily visible, unlike in BvS.

+ Show Spoiler +Great movie, but very disappointed by the ending. Feel strongly as though the villains won and got away with no repercussions, murdering two beloved marvel characters and leaving two more seriously debilitated. I feel that at least Bucky should have had some kind of consequence for what he did. I'll be disappointed if this isn't resolved in some way in a later film, but doubt that it will be. Still, probably one of the best films of the MCU so far.

+ Show Spoiler +Howard and Maria Stark are killed, Iron Man and War Machine are both seriously/potentially permanently debilitated.

The movie was decent, but if it happened to exploit the emotional side it could had been an amazing movie.

Like Batman vs Superman, the plot was shit and they forced some stupid + Show Spoiler +death of some black kid that was "caused" by Iron Man to make him feel guilty about having unlimited choice/power to make Iron Man decide oh hey yeah I'll subject my ass to the government's will and orders despite the utter retardedness of anyone ever thinking doing this is going to turn out well because the government knows what's best for superheroes.

When it's Cap just pushing around soldiers, Ironman who can laser or kill anyone but just pushes them around instead, the big team fight where everyone just jumps around talking about star wars idk
I went into it assuming it was going to be more about ideologys but instead it's pretty much Cap being above the law and the world, with no repercussions. He fights off a UN task force, helps a criminal who supposedly bombed a UN meeting and he has his shield impounded? Apparently the public outcry, the US government or what the 117 countries of the UN meetings dont mean anything to Captain America. Oh and the beautiful ending when he breaks into a special made UN sanctioned prison and breaks everyone else out who broke the law. Freedom I still really liked the movie, really enjoyable and funny but it felt more like the type of superhero movie a grandparent can bring their grandkids to
It's interesting that was your reaction, since + Show Spoiler +the most common criticism with the comic story line is that Tony comes off as a completely out of character lunatic and the legislation is portrayed far more as a hysterical overreaction since there have been metahumans around since...like...forever. It helps that in the "real" MCU there's an enormous history of mutant registration acts and mutants in general existing, so forcing everyone to register if they have powers at all-even if they were just born with them and never use them to do anything-is pretty draconian.
I think their hands were tied about Cap being anti-registration and Tony being pro-registration from the comics, unfortunately.

+ Show Spoiler +I´m actually kinda surprised that many people here are saying that the fact the heroes were not trying to kill each other in the airport is a bad thing. I would be disappointed if it was the opposite. We have almost 10 years of movies coming from Marvel and many of them are about building the Avengers and what is at stake for each hero. These guys know each other for years and are friends, it´s not a single movie, or a few weeks in the movie, that is going to suddenly make everyone hate each other. They have some ideological differences, but they are more trying to get the others to join their cause than to kill anyone who disagree.
The only exception of course is Tony in the end, but the movie did a great job building up to the moment where we finaly see what really happened with his parents, so he had a very strong motivation.
For me, probably the best Marvel movie until now. Can´t wait for Spiderman and Black Panther!

A black man as the main character in a superhero movie? One with an African accent? Yeah, it's going to flop (unless they find a more "AMERICAN" person to play the lead role). Why do you think all movies where an Asian is supposed to be the main character ends up having some white dude playing the main character? People simply don't like colored leads.

? + Show Spoiler +Howard and Maria Stark are not beloved characters in the MCU. You can argue that they are important backstory but thats about it. On top of that they were Long dead anyway.
As for Warmachine getting disabled... He's beginning to walk again in the very movie you just watched and you don't exactly need your legs to pilot an Ironman suit. Tony Stark is permanently debilitated? What? Why would he be?
Bucky was mindcontrolled to do that stuff and he isn't exactly cleared before the law (no one is?). What Kind of consequences did you expect?

Don't watch films then. No one forces you.

what a cop out + Show Spoiler +rhodes getting shot by friendly fire the old white dude being so unlikeable when he is totally correct the series still pretending these people are heroes (avengers 2 was the worst in this regard)
thirty years since watchmen and comic book movies are still aping 1960s conceptions of the relation between superheroes and governments.
also, the action wasnt nearly as well-shot as in winter soldier, whts up with that?

It was a great movie, maybe a few things weren't right. + Show Spoiler + I hate that Tony goes mad when he finds that his parents were killed by Bucky... He is fucking Ironman, cmon.
I felt the Civil War part wasn't enough, why didn't they do a 2 part history, with Ironman 4 as end of this plot
Overall a great movie.. Antman, for me he was the best of the movie.

Just watched it, I give it a 7.5 out of 10. I rank it just behind winter soldier and guardian of the galaxy
+ Show Spoiler + 1. imo there were too many location changes at the beginning, I felt they could have found a way to tighten up the pacing in the early parts.
2. Black panther is cool, he did a seriously awesome triple kicks in the air that everyone just went whoa in the theater.
3. Spiderman is awesome, I wish they would show off his spider sense. Aunt May imo is the bigger surprise.
4. Antman becoming giant part was awesome, the whole cinema burst into laughing. Sadly they didn't put more thought into it later. He had way cooler moments when he was small.
5. Vision and scarlet witch chemistry is there. I think Vision is hinting that he is going to conquer the control of the gem, it may play a big role when thanos get his hand to it.
6. The fighting scene is cool, but I think the road scene in winter solder is shot a lot better. Maybe it's because there is less super power. Also some of the moves from captain america, black widow are overused too often.
7. Falcon is a pretty nice character, he got plenty screen time.
8. A majority of this movie is to sent up plot for the next few movies to come, which is also what the ending implies.
I think the main disappointment from me is that I compare it to the comics. The comics one is much more complex and conclusive while the cinematic is building up something big.
still, a really enjoyable movie.
