This guy plays Punisher the way Hugh Jackman plays Wolverine. I can't imagine anyone possibly doing it better. I'm more excited for this than any other Marvel project.

The last couple episodes are really good. the first couple have their moments but they feel like they start and stop pretty heavily. Well worth the watch I think but could have been amazing in half the eps. the last episode specifically is really really good. Nothing is really bad about it I don't think other then pacing issues. Iron fist gets exposed pretty hard as the shitty part of the defenders universe though. He gets all the facepalm moments and is generally a huge idiot. Punisher was the best part of the defenders universe because I genuinely believe it was amazing acting and not just good writing or directing.

Hopefully they steer clear of the worst Frank Miller 80s plots in the future. I really do hope they can move away from all that Hand bullshit and ninjas after the events depicted in The Defenders. And Iron Fist is one of the crappiest superhero designs ever (He knows kung fu and can focus his chi into his fist, wow. He's been orphaned as a very young boy and raised by kung fu monks but he's really a billionaire - the most boring backstory ever).

Half of it was (all the parts with the Punisher and Kingpin) and the other half (pretty much all scenes with ninjas and Elektra) was absolutely terrible to the point where I was just skipping those parts in the later episodes. Damn, so long until November

Totally not what I was expecting (I suspected they might do something like John Wick the TV show but with Punisher instead of John), but what I got was amazing. This is a really well made crime/drama/psychological thriller. The characters were really fleshed out and interesting, the dynamic of their interactions was top notch and pretty much all the roles were played very well (with Bernthal taking the cake of course). The directing and editing were superb - I was really astonished at how well they used clever juxtaposition in some scenes. It definitely wowed me. The action scenes were really well made and very brutal for the most part. I also liked how they captured the essence of the Punisher. I mean, he's the guy you're rooting for and your protagonist, all is well, cool and dandy and it's easy in some of the slower parts of the show, but then you get to the action and confrontation... Then you discover that Frank is really an unhinged psychopath and a real monster. He's annihilating (not an exaggeration) any opposition without any pity or remorse. It is always violent, brutal and gruesome, quite often disgusting. This is really what makes The Punisher such an interesting character. The polarity of righteous, generally good guy towards others and this bestial monster towards anyone he considers to be a bad guy or a threat to innocents. I also really enjoyed how they delved in PTSD and gun control. It wasn't opinionated, it explored the topics really well and fit the theme of the show. Props from me. All in all, we got more Frank Castle and less Punisher, but it was done really well. I can definitely recommend this show to pretty much anyone (not just comic book fans).

This might be the most violent show I've ever seen. I usually don't care at all about on-screen violence, but this show actually had me cringing at parts and thinking "Did they need to show that?" So much red-syrup. It serves its purpose, though. The issues of PTSD, military culture, and Stolen Valor are handled pretty well.

For me it started a bit too slow but thats probably because i "wanted/expected" more action. Once i realised that this won't be the main focus, i was really well entertained. Really good show .

I just hope they don't do too many sequels where they over use the character background and try to do something new and mess everything up

So when are we allowed to talk about it? 'cause I really hate some of the criticism it receives (on reddit mostly, ugh).

I think it's fine as long as you spoiler posts for the next couple weeks as people get some time to watch it. I personally think the show was fucking amazing, but other people I know say it was needlessly brutal violent, even though IMO it was necessary to really show who the punisher is. + Show Spoiler + Stuff like hamstringing the soldier without killing him, the one man army to save his squad, etc. Finishing agent orange off in a manner that brings back memories of the Mountain also.

Best marvel so far. one question: + Show Spoiler + murder of frank's family is known? + Show Spoiler + So before this season, we thought that Frank's family died in the crossfire of a drug deal gone wrong in central park, by accident. That's why Frank went after the gangs and Shoonover (who started the drug operation as The Blacksmith) in Daredevil season 2. Now we know that the death of Frank's family was not an accident. When Frank gets to Wolf in his own home, Wolf tells him that they knew about his homecoming tradition (going to the roundabout and having picnic in the park with the whole family) and planned to kill not just him, but also his family (and a bunch of criminals for even more bodies and chaos) to make it look like an accident. So the murderers are basically Wolf, Rawlins and Shoonover aka The Blacksmith, who planned this together I'd guess, as well as Billy Ruso who knew about it and did not stop it or warn Frank. The triggers were pulled by a bunch of low level criminals during the drug deal, but they are not important and probably all died in the shootout or were killed afterwards by Rawlins and co. to hide any tracks.

+ Show Spoiler + Especially the part where Frank is being beaten down in the chair with snippets of him having sex with his wife. The other voilence I just viewed as very efficient takedowns and paints that picture of a person that gets stuff done.

The second half wasn't as exciting (at least in my opinion). It felt like a lot of filler and all that. I also didn't like what happened to the villian (Pilgrim I think his name is?) that was disappointing. Still enjoyed it and am sad that season 3 will never come.

“Marvel’s The Punisher will not return for a third season on Netflix,” Netflix confirmed today to Deadline. “Showrunner Steve Lightfoot, the terrific crew, and exceptional cast including star Jon Bernthal, delivered an acclaimed and compelling series for fans, and we are proud to showcase their work on Netflix for years to come,” the streamer added. “In addition, in reviewing our Marvel programming, we have decided that the upcoming third season will also be the final season for Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” Netflix also made official this President’s Day. “We are grateful to showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, star Krysten Ritter and the entire cast and crew, for three incredible seasons of this groundbreaking series, which was recognized by the Peabody Awards among many others”. https://deadline.com/2019/02/the-punisher-jessica-jones-canceled-netflix-marvel-krysten-ritter-jon-bernthal-1202535835/

Bernthal is a great Punisher, gives me vibes. Why is that happening? It's like DC got rid of their best asset so far (Batfleck), and now Marvel does the same with their TV series. Or is that Netflix to blame?

Or is that Netflix to blame? I think it has to do with Disney starting up its own proprietary streaming service. Disney has been planning to pull all of the licenses for its major franchises from potential competitors. Now that streaming has devalued traditional TV platforms, content is king. But yes, Bernthal is awesome as the Punisher, so I wouldn't be surprised if Disney renews the show.

To me anything on netflix was still better than the shows they put out on Cable to I would be up for all and more of them to come back. I prefer both Legion and Agents of SHIELD to anything on Netflix. If you haven't seen Legion I would very much recommend it.
