I don't know either, I think it's pretty much a self fulfilling prophecy from people being used to shows declining, watching through negative/critical lenses instead of just enjoying the show. Imo season 6 is the best season apart from season 1, I loved the whole "Tyler Durden"-thing with Gellar. But that cliffhanger is killing me. Did not like the "in love"-thinge though, that's just wrong.
I watched all 6 seasons during the last month, my favorite show by far. Don't know why I ignored my friends recommendations for so long. Only started watching because I was without internet for 3 weeks.
i think that u just spoiled it for the guy you quoted
edit:
nvm his post was like a month ago
Yeah, I contemplated putting it in a spoiler-tag, but because of the date I decided not to.
Yeah the love bullshit with Debra in the last couple episodes was completely unnecessary and unbelievable. I guessed they figured they had to do it to some how make it more beleivable that she won't turn him in. However, their relationship as brother and sister should just be enough.
Seasons 1,2 and 4 are my favs. 6 was better than both 3 and 5. 3 just felt contrived and 5 was good but the finale was pretty anti climactic.

enjoy man.
Those were the good old days...before season 5 ._.
Just came in here to complain...What the fuck happened to this show. It used to be one of my top 3 shows and had a chance to be among the greatest ever but season 5 and 6 were absolute disasters. I couldn't even make it through all of season 5 and now I'm trudging along through season 6...for what reason I don't know because its pretty terrible. Maybe I'm just curious to see how it ends. Did all the writers quit? Did everyone decide to cash their cheques and stop trying? I'm having a hard time remembering a show thats fallen off worse...making True Blood look good at this point.
just re watched the last episode to hype me for next season. The line 'I am a father, a son and a serial killer.' literally gave me chills through my body, so hyped for the next season.
Just got into this show too, saw season 6 while i've been unemployed with my fiancee and she loves the psychology of Dexter and the other serial killers in this show. We have since gone back and watched season 1 and just finished season 2. loving it.

I hated season one. In fact, it was the only season I saw for years until I ran out of TV series to watch - I initially thought the show tried too hard to have some semi-awkward but original main character and the ice truck killer case to be rather boring.
Then I watched season five - enjoyed the guy from Third Rock from the Sun. I liked the whole integration of religious dude who was a murderer and Dexter pretending to be his friend - sneaky bastard. Was shocked when I found out his wife died, although I was glad they got rid of that character it did also seem like a real shame. Looking back now I'm surprised how much the little daughter had changed from being a cute little kid to a spoilt teenager.
Then I watched season four - not as impressed with the chick who wanted revenge, although she was hot in the Bourne series she was rather annoying and not as attractive here. Felt like she was making Dexter into a protector figure rather than his own individual which is what makes Dexter so cool. Didn't like that they didn't focus more on the fact that Dexter killed that innocent photographer when it was his assistant who murdered all those murders - like, wouldn't that severely fuck up his 'Code'? In Batman Beyond Bruce holds a gun to a criminal in self-defence and that was enough for him to done his cape. Here Dexter simply chops up some dude, feels guilty for about thirty seconds of screen time in his office, then moves on.
Then I watched season three - just enjoyed watching Jimmy Smits who was on The West Wing as a President as some easily angered rhino. However I didn't find his character to be very believable. I did like the scenes where it was Dexter versus Smits though, it was like some nerd trying to take on an alpha male.
Then I watched season two - the British chick was annoying as fuck and I wish I didn't have to wait 12 episodes before she died. I liked Doakes though and I loved the scenes where he was following Dexter like some gay stalker with that big "I'm going to get you" grin on his face.
Then I watched season six - meh. The killings were gross but other than that I felt it was rather cliche to just say oh hey this guy is a schizophrenic. Didn't really feel like there was any purpose, and didn't feel like the killings were apocalyptic enough, like they weren't mass scaled killings they were just random killings of random people who you don't really care about. They were killed in arty ways, but other than that the murders weren't really hardcore.
Anyhow, looking forward to season seven, have also joined the Facebook group get rid of Debra Morgan - damn, I've never hated an actress before but she has proven to be the worst I've ever seen. Sadly I have the feeling her and Dexter are going to hook up which will be disappointing.
