Sorry if there's already a thread. I know there's a trailer thread but well, that's for the trailer hype. This thread can be for people who want to reflect on what they saw, once they've seen it.
So anyway it came out last night in Australia and so I went to see it at the VMAX cinema near where I live. I won't do an in-depth review, I'm sure the thread will become a deep review itself with the contribution of posts, but I will say: I absolutely loved it.
Being a film made from a comic, I loved how it was barely fantasy at all. Very dark and gritty. The way the whole mob theme was done worked really well and I gotta say Heath Ledger played the Joker so amazingly well. He literally convinces the viewer that he's an insane psycho creep. It's just awesome.
9/10 from me. The only bad thing for me was that I think Aaron Eckhart, while playing Harvey Dent just fine, + Show Spoiler +didn't really do it for me with his performance as Two-Face.
GREAT MOVIE.
Your opinion?

AWESOME movie.
Saw it last night, 9/10 from me as well, the only thing I didn't like was the voice that Christian Bale did as Batman, it was too tryhard and fake.
Heath Ledger was incredible as The Joker, he stole the movie. I will not be surprised at all if he wins an Academy Award for that performance.

He wont be able too due to his drug overdose a few months ago that took his life .
If the Joker does return in future Batman movies, supposively Jack Nicholson is supposed to be doing it (considering he's 70+ he wont hopefully), but no one will be able to compete with Ledgers performance that he did do. Such a shame.

I'm pretty sure you can still win an award, it would probably go to his family.
|
Yeah I don't see why they can't award an Oscar to someone just because he corpsed a while back.
|
Yeah, you can definitely win a posthumous Oscar.

And why would his drug overdose affect the nomination? I thought it was on sleeping pills and most likely accidental >_>...

Going to watch it on Friday... I read a review in the NYPost and it got 3.5 stars so I'm having my doubts about whether its too overhyped or not >_> nonetheless going for the earliest screening on friday

Thursday night @ midnight!!! can't wait here ^^

LOL at the people who think Heath can't win an Oscar because he's not alive anymore.
Peter Finch won the best actor academy award in 1977 (movie: Network)
James Dean, Spencer Tracy, and Massimo Troisi have also been nominated posthumously.
PS. I hope he wins.

PS. I hope he wins. It's not that hilarious that some people can't pull an example from 1977 out of their ass at no notice.

Sheesh dude, no offense meant. Random 1977 example aside, I just thought it was funny that people thought he couldn't win because he was dead. I mean, why the heck not?

I mean, why the heck not? its actually an easy mistake to make, the obvious reason being that he can't receive it

Dead people aren't people. Without life it's just so much water, fat and bone. Heath Ledger was an actor when he was alive. But he is no longer an actor or even a person and as such giving him awards is a little pointless.

You guys forget that that's what the original Batman did for his voice.

Of course it is not pointless, it doesn't matter if he's alive or not, if he deserves to win (which will be decided when it comes) then he should be recognised.
Why don't you email Academy Awards and tell them that, we really don't care.
This thread is not a debate thread. It's about the movie so talk about the movie or GTFO
