I'm assuming this poll is one-handed Jamie? If so he's at the bottom.

The Hound and the Mountain are both huge and beastly powerful, and although they are very experienced in the field, they are very wreckless and slow.
Jorah is not experienced enough and has never been considered creme of the crop by anyone's standard. He was in and won or placed in one tourney a while ago, but he isn't exactly practicing or training either.
Jon Snow is a great fighter, has trained at Winterfell his whole childhood (although he says Robb was always a better swordsman). But he has had immense experience at and beyond the wall.
Ser Barristan has probably had the most experience compared to anyone and probably been the best overall, however he is old now and wouldn't be as powerful, limber or agile as he used to be.
Loras we don't know enough about although he unhorsed the mountain. He is probably just in his prime being young, fit, and wealthy enough to train with experienced fighters, but overall I doubt he'd rank very high. Brienne also beat him at Highgarden.
Bronn is awesome. I wish we knew more about his formal fighting style. This guy is a total mystery to me in terms of tourney fighting, but would probably take out anyone in a street fight by being more aware of his surroundings and have the best survival skills.
Jaime Lannister is obviously left-handed now, but considering him with his right hand he was certainly one of the very best by many measures, comments, instances in history, etc.
However, Brienne has my vote, seeing as how she seems to be the more dedicated, the more vicious, the most balanced as far as power, defense, offense, agility, stamina, etc., and also took out Loras Tyrell in Highgarden and overpowered Jaime on the bridge before getting captured. Obviously he hadn't been training while held prisoner, but he made many references to her being a beast and how impressed he was with her strength and fighting capabilities since that instance.
Brienne gets my vote hands-down.
You did NOT mention Oberyn Martell however. Edit: We have only been led on to his fighting capabilities and haven't been exposed to it in the show yet.

Beric Dondarrion is quite strong imo.
He is immortal isnt he?

He is immortal isnt he? He's so weak he's actually been killed several times. He's only come to life due to the red priest reviving him afterwards. It's not something he does himself.

Mountain would beat any of them (Barristan is just too old and left-handed Jaime is no fighter). Sandor is the only other one up there that could be in the contest I think. Brienne is good, but not that good.
|
I think the Hound beats the Mountain. The bigger one is just too slow and especially too dumb, and that just kills you when facing a great swordsman.
Also Bronn might just be able to beat both.
|
Just because the mountain's big doesn't have to mean he's very slow.
|
I voted for Bronn because he doesn't give a fuck about honor. He fights to win and would play dirty in any fight. He also seems very good at fighting. I don't know how he would fare against the Mountain though, since he doesn't seem to be the honorary type either heh.
But yeah, Bronn because he doesn't give a fuck and he is awesome.
Oh and yes, the poll is missing Oberyn. From what I saw in the trailers, he seems to be pretty amazing.
Edit: But if there was chicken at stake, the Hound would win ezpz.

voted the hound cause he's my favorite character and i consider him one of the greatest fighter in the serie .. the scene when he has to fight a fire sword got me
also fuck the king
edit: special mention to bronn

Consider how sloppy of a fighter both the Hound and the Mountain are. Although they are both experienced in field combat and tourney's, look at how careless and maniacal the Hound was in S04E01 with Arya in the tavern. Likewise, recall his fight with Beric Dondarian in the cave (I know the fire was part of it), and how he fought on the Blackwater in Season 2. He expends all of his energy very fast after plunging into combat, he is often drunk while fighting, and is generally very reckless.
The Mountain we have only seen a few times, but from direct references we can assume is even more vicious, brutal and reckless. Look at how he overreacted after being unhorsed by Ser Loras Tyrell in S01 at the Hand's Tourney by decapitating his horse and then trying to murder Loras. I don't doubt their strength and relative skill in combat, but I believe that they would definitely get bested by Brienne and especially Bronn in 1 on 1.
Edit: I'd also be very curious to see how Ned Stark would fit into this mix of fighters, although I still don't think he would be the best.

What about the Red Viper: Prince Oberyn Martell? He seems pretty slick.

We haven't seen or really heard anything about his fighting skills?

Well there are the trailers, where he does some slick moves.

The scene where he put his knife in the hand of the Lannister guy on the table would indicate he can handle weapons and is very fast. But I admit that doesn't say much about him as a sword fighter.
I liked the hot girls discussion better anyway. :p

Lol, I don't even know who half of those people are. But I would include Maester Aemon (having just googled his name).

I hope that Jaime Lannister will prove everyone wrong and become the best again in future episodes.
Also, I hope to see some Ser Barristan "carving the cake" action, the legends surrounding this guy are huge. The idea of him still beating them all despite his age is very alluring.

I will explain it, Jon Snow can be harmed in Castle Black, he has enemies there, he could also be send on a suicidal mission, he could also die in battle against some windlings and he could also be killed by Ygritte. Even if Stannis comes it will most likely be too late. For Ygritte, she might be killed by windlings if she refuses some advances, she might die at Castle Black because of the night watch or Stannis's men.
In a stupid movie the most likely scenarios would be: Ygritte and Jon Snow survive together and escape > Ygritte and Jon Snow both die hand in hand > Ygritte kills Jon Snow or the reverse but these are unlikely to happen. Although I'm sure Martin will kill Ygritte at some point to make Jon Snow even more of a tough hero, I don't see Jon dying. Think about it: if he dies there is basically no protagonist in the north / on the wall anymore. That doesn't make sense.

He is immortal isnt he? he doesnt fight like he is immortal. He fights like he is a man, defends himself, doesnt let an 'opening' to his vital organs trick his opponent into opening themselves up to. Such misuse of immortality.
