A work can fail to match the intentions of the author when there is a failure or an error in execution. Execution of an idea may contradict the intention.

Kind of tired of this discussion. When the girl kisses and fucks you back, it can't be qualified as rape! In some relationships, the girl says no while still really wanting it...Just don't try it on that new girl you just picked up at the bar...

Am I the only one who isnt botherd by Littlefingers voice? I find it awesome and mysterious.

I'll actually just edit this out and be safe about it.
If the director says it wasn't meant to be rape, I think we can all just say it was portrayed poorly.

Where the flying fuck did she kiss and fuck him back?

I'm not going to go frame by frame with you. Its VERY evident she wants it, and shes seen reaching back to kiss him several times.

Both the director and the book author have announced by now that it wasn't meant to be rape.
I call foul here - the person saying that clearly has read the books, even multiples times ! Thus his opinion should be disregarded and if he'd ever post here, he'd be banned from this thread !
:o)

Also I don't get it why it matters that much if it could be intended/non-intended rape in that scene - ppl normally don't bother about all the child abuse, murdering, slavering, beheading, incest, killing innocent farmers/low-borns and raping that was shown previously either, so why focus on that in that particular scene from last episode ? Just because both persons are known to the audience ? -.-#

I see one kiss in total after she tells him off and not multiple kisses as you imply, so your statement is incorrect based on that alone. That one kiss she does not fight off. Absolutely everything else she does, though, is trying to fight him off, right until the scene ends. Not to mention everything she says.
So, yeah. Clearly not rape.

You guys are aware this is a tv show right?

And it really doesn't matter what the regisseur says about that scene, if it doesn't portray what he intended to do he failed, simple as that

Its still kinda worrying that some people don't know what constitutes rape.
That could land them in serious trouble in real life.

Yeah because only knowing the law will stop you from mistreating a girl.

Who cares if it fits the comon definition of rape. From what I've seen he wanted to fuck her, forced her and she half opposed and half consented. Call it the way you want but that's what I get from that scene.
|
I didn't see a rape. We know that they love each other and she didn't try to escape. She was just worried about someone coming back in the room. OK, she was also disgusted by doing it with the body of her son but she won't consider what happen as a rape imo.
|
The point is that this scene was not meant to be rape by the creators. However, since most people construe it as rape, this can have negative consequences on the character development of Jaime. So yes, in a way the director didn't manage to express what he intended to.
Also, most viewers seem to base their moral system on today's standards when watching a medieval setting. That said, even today there is a lot of ambiguity as to what is rape and what not. Just take a look into the courts.
And to the one claiming I've read the books, he's right, I've just started with the first book of the series. The interviews with director and book author can be found all over the place in the news.

This is clearly not rape.
I have been with girls that wanted it exactly like that. It's pretty common.
Edit : Minus the "being next to your son`s dead body". LOL

That's missing the point by a few miles. We don't know if Cersei likes it that way. That other women might like it just like that (or not) is entirely irrelevant for Cersei.
