Add to that that both Renly and Stannis have no kids so far (I believe) he might be the only Baratheon descendant at this point. Btw this thought also shows why it is that important that Renly overcomes his "problems". Well the fact is, if he's Robert's bastard he's a Summer or whatever you call bastards in King's Landing, not a Baratheon at all. He has no claim on anything at all as far as his Baratheon lineage go. Just like Jon Snow as no claim to Winterfell ... they're bastards that's the point. Jofrey and the Queen are afraid bastards may become a problem so they anticipate it by killing them all but it doesn't make Gendry a better claim to the throne at the moment. Now if he is more than a simple bastard like I think he is, it's another story, but they don't know anything about that now. Rob Stark thought Gendry was important. It was clear that he planned to put Gendry on the throne, with the change to the Kings will (changed "My son Geoffrey" to "My rightfull heir"). Gendry wasn´t recognized, but Rob Stark still considered him the next in line to the throne. No he didn't(It was Eddard not Rob btw). He considered Stannis the rightful heir to the throne. A bastard can't inherit anything, the eldest brother is next in the line of succession if there are no trueborn children. The importance of Genry to Eddard was that it help point him in the direction that Joffery, Tommen, and Myrcella looked nothing like him. No, I think he wanted Gendry to inherit the throne. He considered it the dying wish of Robert Baratheon, that he should put his son on the throne, that´s what I get from him changing the kings will. He wrote that the will of the king was that his son should inherit, referring to Gendry.
You're grasping straws here, he said things to the effect of "stannis is the heir" "Stannis is the rightful King" so many times, god knows where you're coming up with that he wanted Gendry to be the king when he never remotely hinted at that

He's not. He's making perfect sense compared to what he was responding to. There is no mention, or even hints, in the series that Gendry is Cersei's as well. Why would there be any reason for her to gain a legit son, and then just stow him away and tell everyone he died?

They are actually several hints but you didn't saw them. I'm saying this makes no sense because on this matter, I wrote like 10 times that my idea wasn't that Cersei stow away her own child, but maybe someone else did it for her and told her it was dead. I never thought she'd do that to her own child only to put her inbred Lannister son on the throne. I was talking big picture here, like something that goes beyond the scale of a mom and her child. Like people playing the Game of Thrones ... So read first next time :D

The wonderful thing about Game of Thrones is that, as we've learned up til now -- anything can happen! No one is safe, nothing is true, and all bets are off. So although I don't agree with your theory at all, hell, who knows?
What a great series :-p This is why waiting a week between episodes is so painful -.- Just wanna hibernate all week til the next episode is out.

That's exactly the spirit! I posted about my theory here because I actually hoped more people would answer with the same spirit (and good arguments) so that we could confront theories.

At the moment I'm quite convinced that there is not another hidden power, but the dynamics are the outcome of single players and their continuing competition.
Did you ever play 3-way-chess?
While usual chess is already demanding, multi-way-chess will just paralyse you.
I think that is what the story is about.

Amazing episode, liked everything except gay scene, but Margery taking off her gown totally made up for that. 4th episode has potential to be even better, can't fucking wait. I can't get enough of Tyrion's plays and tricks, such good acting~Brienne isn't even as ugly as i imagined her to be, maybe it will get worse when she takes her armor off.

Sent you a PM that covers all the hints covered in the book.
Oh and pretty happy with the series so far. Even if episode 2 was the weakest one of the season by far. Episode 1 was a necessary evil so we could see everyone in the series this season. Except of Brienne of Thart.

I just sent you a PM about that Excludos.
PLZ people don't even SAY you read the books if you did!!! Because when you make a theory about a show (that is all about GUESSING), and someone doesn't agreee with you for several posts, if suddenly that person tells you "ohhh btw ... I read the books" than she basically spoiled you that all you were thinking about was wrong. We can't even make theories about the future of the show without being spoiled here, hell that sucks!!! Believe it or not but I've been gathering my little clues quite well and was kinda happy with the little theory I came up with about Gendry, in fact several people I know told me it made a lot of sense. But now someone who read the book told me I'm grasping at straws that aren't even there so what am I suppose to think ??? I was really looking forward to the moment where the show would prove me right or wrong, but someone had to tell me that I was wrong, because someone read the book and obviously knew better than me.
PLZ BOOK READERS, NEVER TELL US IF YOU READ THE BOOK OR NOT!
Just based on how you react to people's theory, we can understand what's gonna happen in the future, and that's somehow the worst kinda of spoil in a show like Game of Thrones which isn't about "How are they gonna do things" (shows where what's gonna happen is obvious but what matters is how) but about "What are they gonna do" (show where we just don't know what's gonna happen).
I'm pretty sure this would be very much appreciated.

No offense, but nobody is making you listen to "complete bullshit." There is another thread for discussion of the entire story, not just that encompassed by the show. As someone who has read the books, I use that thread for discussing my theories and discussing the books, and mostly observe in this thread and chuckle to myself at some of the comments people who just watch the show make. There is no need to comment about theories you can prove or disprove based on your knowledge of the books...just don't discuss it at all.
This thread is for discussing the merits of the TV show. If you have to pretend they aren't based on books at all, go ahead and do that.

Ahhh so we get at it. Finally the book reader wants to play "who's got the biggest" ... But that's the thing boy, I don't want to play that game with you. If I recall there's a thread to talk about the book. Here we're talking about the show. Therefore if you want to go have a knowledge contest about the Seven Kingdoms, be my guest but go do that on the other post not on the one were people who actually have no idea what's gonna happen are talking. Of fucking course my theory makes no sense to you since you got ohhh so many more details on the subject from the book. I don't that's why I came up with this theory. Which from a show watcher's point of view could seem very plausible as I've been talking to people about it and many found it interesting (but they didn't always agree).
I don't care if I'm wrong or even if I'm 1000000 miles from the truth, I just want to learn it from the show, not from an imbecile who wants to have the last word on a debate he's OBVIOUSLY gonna win since he got informations I don't.

Seriously how stupid are you Excludos??? This topic is for people who watch the show, If you don't like us making theories about it don't pay any attention to it. But why do you need to fuck it up for someone else? Does it make you feel better to prove you're right??? Got self esteem issues ??
if not than STFU !!!

I'll go into the extreme but if someone who is mentally challenge was to make a post about his theory and be totally wrong, you'd feel happy too to fuck his whole theory up? Mod Edit: book book book
