Even when Ichigo's Bankai turned out to be a normal sized sword, it was because it was a massive power just all compressed as tight and fast as possible. But then it stopped mattering because Kubo. Isshin said that everyone of captain level can control the size of their swords otherwise everyone would be walking around with zanpaktou the size of skyscrapers(or something along that line). Though I'm sure the realised form is probably subject to individual zanpaktou.

The "Swallow" command seems like his sword ability might be to absorb kido-like reiatsu or any energy probably (like that arracancar who could swallow an enemy cero and spit it back.

I hope that's not true because it would mean that Zaraki just happens to have the ultimate counter to OP hoodie guy, and that would suck, as I said before About the Bankai size, I might be wrong, but IIRC back in the day they explained that most bankai are huge and that was the reason behind Tensa Zangetsu being 'unique and cool'. Later Isshin explained that the capitans are able to control the size of their sealed/shikai zanpakuto... and soon after that things stopped to make any sense.

My favorite part of the chapter has to be where they introduce this all-encompassing barrier to the seireitei, that was never mentioned before, and but a page later it's already broken. I didn't even have time to believe what they were telling me before they showed me it was a lie. C'mooon, Kubo.

In the very beginning didn't ichigo and company pierce a barrier into the seireitei using a cannon?

yup. definitely been there since the start and not just conjured up half-assedly, for once.

Finally, we get to see his real sword... Quoting bleach wiki "Despite constantly being in Shikai, Kenpachi's Zanpakutō does not grant him any additional abilities, due to their lack of communication.[161] Their disharmony leaves his Zanpakutō with little spiritual energy and lets it become easier to damage"... so finally he has released his REAL shikai.
I don't think he absorbed the meteor's power... that's very unlike the Kenpachi (using defensive techniques) and I would be really surprised and dissapointed if that were the case. I think he chopped the meteor up into many pieces... Zaraki always talks about there being nothing his sword can't cut... and the name of the sword is Nozarashi which literally refers to a scene of carnage (motif of skulls bones and skeletons), so I think it's a sword that is used to cut in a frenzy rather then absorb energy.
P.S. upon further inspection you can see pieces of meteor flying around after kenpachi lands back on the ground. That wouldn't happen if he simply absorbed the meteor.
P.P.S. Come on guys, eyepatch still not off... still not srs.

Kenpachi didnt get along with his sword for the longest time. Its entirely possible thats BECAUSE his sword required techniques that he didnt like doing.

no its because he couldnt care less about learning his swords name or spending any time with it at all

Kenpachi killed all sorts of people, just not other Shinigami. He was fully ready to kill Ichigo when they first met, and he's probably killed other intruders or criminals. He was plenty happy to hack up the Hollows and Arrancar in the Hueco Mundo arc.

The mangastream translation is "Drink", which I'd assume is a reference to drinking the blood spilled of enemies. It certainly fits the theme of Zaraki.

So basically if everything in soul society is made of energy, Zaraki has a sword that is capable of either absorbing/ destroying it
Basically Orihime-levels of broken

Zaraki has been broken for awhile. Kubo is just finally getting around to patching him up and getting him up to his normal speed lol.

Basically Orihime-levels of broken kinda like how thats the ability every quincy has....

Btw if Orihime wasn't such a queen she'd probably be able to do anything like the imaginary quincy guy. She would just have to reject the fact that those vilain quincies exist and they would all disappear xD

A bit of training and she would catch Earth in it

Imagine if Aizen had instead captured Orihime and tortured her until she would do whatever he wanted.
Manga would be over by now. Or maybe, he did and the last two arcs have all been an illusion.
