It's cool to see some aspects of the developments of Soul Society as an actual society (rather than the one-dimensional, HUMAN WORLD, MUNDO, SS).

It's cool to see some aspects of the developments of Soul Society as an actual society (rather than the one-dimensional, HUMAN WORLD, MUNDO, SS). There's nothing wrong with world-building, it comprises most of what makes a great story great. But when it comes to building your world, be it the lore of the world itself, or the characters within it, the earlier you do it the better. Kubo decided to start doing it when the arc was almost over, giving it a thrown-together feel. Proper world-building would have established this backstory years ago, instead it just feels like an asspull, likely because it is. The hate it's getting for this is well-warranted.

I really wish they had clarified this ages ago. Also why the hell can the captain guy used that sword? It said only a member of the Ise household can use it which he isnt? Or are they going to ass pull that too They're gonna teleport to Vegas for a drive-through wedding thus effectively making him part of the Ise.

This isn't world building, it is retconning the world. Chapter by chapter. Everything true before is contradictory to new chapters.

It's fine for fiction not to follow the logic of our world, but it should at least follow its own logic consistently. Not to mention, while this backstory is nice and all, it feels completely like a deus ex machina Kubo needed because he wrote himself into a corner during the final story arc of his manga. Because there were never even hints about this in the 600+ chapters that came before.

Given the sudden interest in telling backstory now that it's convenient for justifying this sword that also is unjustifiable, there are a lot of reasons not to understand what happened. To be fair, I didn't actually read it properly, but I don't think I missed anything.

The example they gave was the little girl that died in the fire sometime in the feudal japan. It not really science and logic, it that they specifically said X couldnt happen and it happen without any explanation or at least a good explanation.
