Comet Lucifer has a Mecha in it? You ruined the show for me. -.-

When mechanical design gets to the point where they start ignoring basic things like "hey, maybe this should have a joint somewhere", thats when you can tell is shitty design.
Is this all on the basis that they develop super strong light weight components able to be used in the design? Otherwise most of these gundam would just be too heavy to actually move on land anyway. Just asking where do you suspend disbelief. There's also no real logical reason to design a humanoid weapon as it's far from the most efficient design

There's a lot of diffferent fictional light weight alloys used in various gundam series (Luna titanium alloy for example)

Yea I'm just saying there's so much bs you have to believe in the first place to make it work why is some BS bad while other BS is fine? Where is the line at the end of the day? What's taking it too far into fantasy land?

Usually it is stuff that doesn't make sense within the fictional universe it's based in. In this case it's probably: How is that thing supposed to bend his arms to use them properly? The show will probably show us how (or if). Otherwise I can understand your way of thinking. I personally don't really care. I don't like mechas and whether they are designed in a gundam way, this way or any other doesn't really bother/interest me.
On another note: Tatami Galaxy is a weird show. It feels like I need a break after every episode despite me enjoying each one of them. This show might take a bit longer to finish than I expected but I'm definitely enjoying it. Also started Kill la Kill. Three episodes in now and it's right up my alley. Over the top action (it's also animated very well imho) and insane crazyness all across the board. Might be the first ecchi show I fully enjoy, too.
|
You're probably one of the first people i've heard say klk is very well animated lol, although trigger might've fixed the eyesores and cornercutting in the BDs
Also if you like KLK you should really try out TTGL next even if you say you don't care about mecha. Actually you should really try it if that's the case since most people i know that don't like mecha still like TTGL. Same writer. Same director. Basically a ton of the same people working on both things despite the different studios. A lot of the same themes too and a lot of over the top action as well. TTGL is also incredibly well animated outside of a certain episode.
|
Yea I was going to say you should make sure you watching BD version as I'm sure they fixed up some of the serious quality issues. I also wouldn't call KLK an ecchi show which is prob why you like it even if you don't like ecchi. It's more akin to something like Kingsman(The movie). A crazy comedy action parody.
As for the stuff about being consistent. I get what you saying there. If they establish a system or rules of their universe but then break them just because it leaves a bad taste. Stuff like arms being too long to bend doesn't really fall under that to me. There's so much crazy shit going on that I don't know what new engineering rules they figured out by then. It may be a bit out there or wrong but not that big a deal really.

This is probably still one of the worst uses of 3DCG i've seen in anime for a human character(although i'm sure there is worse out there): + Show Spoiler [klk] +

Well, I think I worded myself a bit badly. It's not that it's well animated but it looks good/fitting for what the show is trying to achieve. Does that make more sense? It's not a fluid animation but I like the stops in the action for example. Gives them more impact and you don't lose sight in constantly flicking pictures. I like to see what is happening in action scenes. And fluid animation that is also detailed is pretty hard to do and thus rare. Regarding the ecchi part, yes it probably doesn't qualify as ecchi but it definitely has a ton of nudity fan service. The reason I like it is probably because it feels like it's meant to be parody due to being so ridiculous. And yeah, that CGI thing you posted was bad. But it wasn't off-putting because it felt like it could be intended in this show, lol. Anyways, any tips for a sub-group that used the BDs as source? Underwater used TV as it seems. : /
TTGL is on my ptw but I heared it's a "GAR" show so I put it on lower priority. But I might change that again, wouldn't be the first time I did that with a show.

There you go. For future reference for unlicensed shows google showname + bakabt. They generally best for completed. You can always make an account on their site and help out seeding. Otherwise generally guys that do BD don't do the subs themselves they just do the encoding and put on whatever group they feel is best on subs. The description should say which group they used(Above is underwater). These days most non day 1 groups are pretty decent so it's not that big a deal. Certain shows commie goes full meme but I hardly see people use commie for BD because of that lol. Oh also 1080 is often a waste unless you really have a lot of space(I'm a sucker for it :D) as most 1080 BD are merely upscaled 720p so it doesn't actually do anything lol.
If TL doesn't want this posted just let me know and I'll change to PM.

I mean i personally liked the aesthetics of KLK, partly due to how similar they were to TTGL.
Also as far as BD subs, there are a few, but the only not-bloated-to-hell(like the only numy posted which is 36GB) one i see is by [JacobSwaggedUp] which is sadly a .mp4 batch.

|
Thanks a lot Numy! <3 I don't have a lot of space (36 GB is a lot for such a show for me but I will do it this time) but I'm not running low on space, either. 1080p doesn't do anything for me on my 19" 5:4 monitor anyways, so yeah. xD
Regarding the aesthetics, they are a completely different matter. I usually seperate animation and aesthetics from each other when I comment about them because one doesn't necessarily says anything about the other. I really like the aesthetics in KLK however.

I would have thought that's the SD version of the mech for SRW lol
If that's not the case then I can totally see the moe parts of it,long ears check, big limbs small body check
And err...they probably should make a pink version of it, and give it an open eyes mode with giant eye balls, barbie mech done.
And surely they have a transam mode or something for this, I can totally it expands its body similar to unicorn

From a design standpoint, its an abomination. Despite the fact that this robot is probably going to be like 30 meters tall in its show, imagine if it was like a foot tall. Would it be able to move? Stand on its own? Bend its knee without cutting into itself? Its just terrible mechanical design.

Dam I thought it would be juicier.
@Sent - I get what you saying but I just don't get why this is an issue when the whole thing is a massive bundle of issues in the first place. That's what I want to know. Where is the line of "these issues I can deal with but these ones I can't".
