The ideas explored in the show were great and I like how they displayed the Shogi battles, even though I don't know the significance of said moves, however, I think the pacing was too slow and the show squandered some of its potential. The MC kept swimming around in the deep end for most of the show and almost felt like he never moved forward. It'll look like he's planning to move forward then he back traces imo. The show tries hard to show the struggles he faced and yes, they are great but I think they overdid it. I've lost count how many times they've brought up his history or showed that he can't do something. I didn't mind the comedy aspect though I have to agree with whoever mentioned that the show switching from being serious to being comedic is a somewhat bad idea. The serious aspect lost its meaning when that happens. Akane and her sisters were a great addition and part of what I enjoyed about the show but they never made much of an appearance in the second half on the advice, except for a couple of times. The grandfather's advice is understandable and played a role but even then, more appearances would've been nice. I can't really say which half I enjoyed the most (second half had its perks) but at times, the anime felt extremely boring. There was no excitement factor to speak of and I stopped watching for several weeks at one point. I do like the OP, ED and hope that the show gets better in the second season! ;; + Show Spoiler + I think his struggle is something they did really well. The reason for that is that it's quite realistic. Most people don't move on because a single line of dialouge got them thinking. It's a very slow process and often needs years. Some never move on. I think he made a quite bit of progress. By the end of the show he visits the three sisters on his own whim. This might seem to be small when compared to other shows but in reality it's a giant step in the right direction. I liked that a lot. As for Monogatari: Just teasing you, I don't actually think you have to watch it. I just think it's funny that it's hovering on your list "on-hold" since before I got to know you. :D

It's just that he isn't willing to drop it and just say it. On the other hand, back in the days when zoo-polls were still a thing the monogatari game was a lot stronger in here so perhaps he was afraid to admit that he doesn't like it? But then again, it's not like anyone is giving Sent crap for not liking the series. And he's fairly vocal about it

They have special seasonally themed goods you can get your hands on (so the usual cherry blossom stuff I'd assume) and if I'm not misunderstanding something really badly, some kind of announcement that will be... well announced. It very well could be just something minor though

Also screw them for saying it's their original series and not even saying where the premise is actually from.

+ Show Spoiler + This was a great movie. The hype was a little too much but i understand why people liked it. It was beautifully animated. The scenery shots and pans(?) zooms(?) where they go from a near shot to a big wide shot of them were all done so well. The voice acting was great and the sound track was probably the best of them. You can feel the emotions of each scene when the track hits. I think someone mentioned here or on IRC that Mikoto Shinkai saying it wasn't all that great of a film, that he left out some things. I would of liked to know what Mitsuha said to her dad, I'd like to know more about Taki's life. Even tho 9.99/10.

It sounds like they made it themselves. If they wanted to convey the message that it was just on their platform exclusively it should've been called a netflix exclusive.

I only started really appreciating it while watching it for the second time, but it's quite amazing.

In certain western countries, sure, but it's not netflix exclusive globally and it certainly isn't a netflix 'original' If you say something is an X or Y original you're very much so implying that X or Y made it, a netflix original implies they made it just like a Van Gogh original implies that it's a painting made by Van Gogh specifically.

+ Show Spoiler + I guess I agree with the "I would have liked to see more of Taki's life" sentiment. When I watched it I said that I just absolutely loved the first 40 or so minutes of it and I would have liked seeing at least some more of it. Of course not too much either but the beginning was so well done that I would have liked to see even a bit more of it in there. The main-story itself was decent but I don't think it deserves AS much praise as it gets. For me that whole part ended up being the weak point of the movie, which is pretty shitty because it's the biggest part of it. But that doesn't mean I thought it was bad either, just that when compared to all the other things: the soundtrack, the start of the movie, the animation etc it was just slightly below the other aspects of the movie for me I watched it 1.5 times, don't think I'd need to watch it more often
