I don't even remember much about the fuuko arc or the kotomi arc, only the main points of them. Honestly they all won't matter much in the end. Neither one of them are best girl. Though one of them does share the hair color of bestgirl.
I kinda feel like the absolute worst arc in Clannad as a whole is afterstory's first one, if you can even call it an arc -- the baseball one. The Sunohara/Mei/Sanae one was pretty bad too. All the other character arcs are tolerable but nothing great. Best of the bunch is probably Yukine's.
And then there's "those" arcs at the 2nd half of AS which are just magic.

I'm at episode 11 and Kotomi arc is fun + laugh all around. I do see a dark side to her story looming (the episode ended with a rapist trying to come in contact with her or something).
The first arc made me feel nothing. It's the feeling you get when you enter a white, empty room. There is a lot of nothingness.

Can anyone recommend me some new sci-fi / Action / Monster / Splatter anime?
I feel like iv watched almost most of the Best Animes of those genres... I really like dark and deep anime (f.e. ghost in a shell). Also i enjoy a good portion of high quality action scenes, with lots of blood and gore (f.e. Attack on titan, berserk, Hellsing). What i dont like are Mecha (except evangelion) or super power / magic anime... Also im not that much into longer animes (more than 25 episodes) with a lot of filler episodes...
Some of my favorites animes are: Tokyo ghoul, Gantz, Jormungand, Evangelion, Black Lagoon, Samurai champloo and a lot more... Recently iv watched Drifters (Mystery, action splatter from the same guy who did Hellsing) and Seikaisuru Kado (sci-fi, no action, but very interesting plot) Maybe some of you can recommend me some secret jewels, that might have missed or some awesome new animes, that would fit into my preferences?

Knights of Sidonia would fit a lot of your wants except it is also has mecha suits in it.

Sukasuka's over. I still think the lore is far better than the actual story itself. The finale was supposed to be full of despair and emotion, but mostly I was just waiting for them to get it over with. I guess it doesn't help when I dislike both the MCs. At least a lot of the supporting chars were pretty good. Visually, the art was decent, but the fights were kinda lacking. In the entire series, I think the only fight that was particularly good was the last one in the finale.
Overall, not bad, but definitely not something I'd watch again.
Started watching ID-0 to fill the void. I've only watched 2 eps so far, but it doesn't seem half bad, despite the CG.

Apparently the finale was somewhat lacking for Sukasuka compared to the LN so someone linked a bit of the LN to fill it out. It seemed nice.

Sukasuka ended on volume 3 instead of 5 LUL.
The fights aren't really the point of it though. It's more of a SoL and one of its main themes is waiting for a loved one to come back from a fight / war. So the series itself never really goes into the fights in much detail since they are kind of unimportant in the grand scheme of things.

I'm just going to throw in some stuff here that fits, dunno if you watched it or not:
- Ergo Proxy (dark dystopian sci-fi, some action, atmospheric) - Texhnolyze (dark dystopian sci-fi, slow, atmospheric) - Monster (longer thriller but definitely worth it) - Shinsekai yori (dystopian sci-fi, slow) - Gunslinger Girl (bloody, dark, some action) - Kino no Tabi (adventure, sci-fi, minimalistic, rather slow and atmospheric) - Serial Experiments Lain (sci-fi, mystery, slow and weird but well written, minimalistic) - Sword of the Stranger (movie with some insane sword fighting) - Kemonozume (sci-fi, weird and brutal) - Bounen no Xam'd (decent sci-fi with some Bones action) - Psycho Pass (dystopian sci-fi, some action) - Parasyte (sci-fi, good action) - Canaan (some really good action with good choreography) - Akira (movie, dystopian sci-fi, nice animation)
