Not comparing it to the original death note, I give it a 5 out of 10. Comparing it to the original, I give it a 1 out of 10. It was kind of silly plotwise, was nothing like the original, disjointed with some plot holes.. but still did provide some entertainment if you aren't being critical

The way they tied up some of the loose ends regarding Lyza was surprisingly satisfying. Just a few minutes earlier I thought about how the hell they would justify her actions. It's often with these types of settings that the author fails to deliver a satisfying answer in the end. It's different here though. Exciting, genuine stuff. The only thing that takes a dump on my hype is the fact that I don't think they will cover the whole story all the way to the end. They are at the third layer of 8 with only 5 episodes left...

But it'd be really painful (or rather: disappointing) if the show doesn't get finished at a later point. Agreed. I don't want them to rush it but if there isn't a s2 that would be disappointing.

I'm really hoping the anime becomes a success. The manga really is great and Kinema Citrus, the studio adapting MiA, also helped fund the anime IIRC so the studio's future depends on how well it does. Also doesn't this manga panel (MiA episode 8 spoilers) resemble a certain reveal in another really good manga ?

+ Show Spoiler + so shit is getting real now oO Didn't expect them to kill of selesia with her arguably being the poster child of the main-cast. Killing off Hikasa was well expected but Selesia I really didn't see comming. At least not this episode instead of a later one. Makes me a bit afraid they're going to undo it somehow which would be awful but for now they're getting the benefit of the doubt from me. Also Tenchan is doing an absolutely amazing job as Kanoya lately. She's always been fairly good in that role but those last 1-2 episodes really had me wow'd by what she can do. I mean it's her job and all so duh but worth pointing out. Fairly glad I didn't drop this 4-5 episodes ago when I felt it's getting boring. It's really showing up strong in these recent episodes for me
