I especially like how they are going more into the other members of Libra and showing more of them like how this week was a K.K. episode. Who wouldn't want a mom who could attend your parents day while also + Show Spoiler +piloting tactical drones to give covering fire for an alien drug bust?
I feel like nothing takes the cake this season. Lots of good shows but nothing great. Houseki no Kuni is good as well, same level as Magus Bride. Kino is solid but got the bitter aftertaste of being not as good as the original adaption. Haven't watched Inuyashiki and Garo yet but from what I heard I doubt they are going to change anything.

It was super chill and comfy but that's about it.
I was a bit surprised that they didn't even give the other university (?) girl 1-2 episodes for her to get together with Kanbe tbh. After all the weird circumstances that has all of them be together in RL as well I was just expecting her to get in there as well at some point, but that never happened. Too bad for me because I was really looking forward to it. Like I said it was feeling super comfy and chill but it ended up a tad too repetitive or too focused on the main 2 characters. Would have preferred a bit more variation by getting a couple episodes on her thrown in, or even the other 2 gamers that are married to each other. That's why I'm hoping for more, past the OVA. I mean, there are characters in the OP that are not even seen through the series. And comfy, yes, but also relate-able. I didn't have any problem with the focus on the main character and her interactions - but short season (10 eps) and I really would have liked to see who that blond at the door is. Pretty sure the two people behind Sakurai in the office are also players. Maybe it would have been relatable if the characters were 15 or so. 30 not so much. So, what rationale do you have to assert that the characters are not relatable due to their age? Is it because MMOs are not something that well adjusted or not so well adjusted people over 15 play? Is it because people can't have social anxiety issues when they're 27 or 30? What does their age have to do with the possibility of relating to their story? Do you honestly think that it's not possible for people to get to be that age without becoming completely blase about romance?
What? I would say MMOs are mostly played by young adults. It's at least not rare. I'm in that age frame as well and I play MMOs so no, that's not the point. What I mean is, that a 27 year old dude that has a job and interacts with people on an everyday basis wouldn't by lose his mind over touching a person accidentally or holding hands on a date, sorry. I could relate if he felt uncomfortable because he is in love and just doesn't know how she feels. That's completely different though. As soon as you get feedback from that person that something is ok there should be relief. That's just not the case in the show. It's also more about their backgrounds. Morioka is way more believable than Sakurai...

i don't know why people have problems with the characters, i mean yeah, people die that's the story right
deus ex machina tho but whatever
The problem with the characters isn't that they die. The problem is they are shit, ranging from stupid to annoying to boring and all their conversation leave you speechless because of how boring and uninspired they are.

When they say they're 30ish, then advance the story in a manner similar to your typical highschool romance, it feels like their age is superficial. It's the same story with different window dressing.
The show is many things, but at its core, it's extremely anime. I've talked about the coincidences before. The whole social anxiety angle was barely touched upon. Heck, I was surprised that they mentioned it at all in the final episode - before that, it was basically played up for laughs. And that's fine, considering that the show wants to be a super sweet romance. It just doesn't lend to it being "relatable".

This has been a great season so far. Even one of the worst airing anime, that Ousama Game anime is entertaining in a bizzare way haha. Not sure if there's a "best" anime but I've enjoyed Magus Bride, Shoukoku no Altair, Net-juu, Inuyashiki, Houseki no Kuni, Black Clover and Juuni.

However, since episode 4 or 5, it's been gradually getting better. The latest episode was fantastic, just need more of those and this anime definitely needed another cour or two. Lots of world building that could've been done.

it's been an hour since finishing houseki no kuni ep 10 but i'm just so in awe by its cinematography, choreography, and the music for a 1 cour tv anime.

just a snippet of the dia fight, the dia chase and borts fight was also fantastic

The fights were fantastic in ep10. And this is the first time I liked a CGI fight in an anime at all so that's saying something.

Jurassic park was pretty neat, but the best part of the episode for me was
+ Show Spoiler [Houseki] +Masking expressions is a pretty standard and effective directing trick, but they also did it in a way that's relevant to the mechanics of the world. The zoom in and reflection of Bort was also good. Overall just a really well done scene.

If you want Aizen in your anime, you need Hayami Sho, Shokugeki no Souma understands that well.
(This season is really good btw)

The last episode of Apocrypha made a pretty good case for why people hype Karna so much. Also Achilles must be redic with his full kit as well.
Some good ole fashioned fun servant battles.

have been gone for a while! Looked up next season - lots of great stuff in it (nanatsu no taizai? yes pls - along with a lot of other great stuff) and then I looked up the spring 2018 season and saw this.. + Show Spoiler [color me excited] +
really enjoying the offerings these past few and next months :3

hinamatsuri is one of my favourite mangas
it's latest chapters are still amazing and hilarious

Is FMP next season or does the wait continue?

Hey guys I'm looking to watch some high production anime like Zankyou no Torror, Shingeki no Bahamut or One Punchman. Any recommendation as for 2016-2017 releases?
|
Shingeki no Bahamut was high production?
Anyways, try Made in Abyss from last season.
|
high production from 2016-2017... as in, good stuff from animation/visuals point of view?
I'd say, in no particular order: Kobayashi-san Chi no Maidragon - Even if for the most part it's more on the comical side of things, and as such gets simple animation, that still looked really good and it did have some stand-out scenes like the fight Kanna vs Touru. And well, usual KyoAni doing KyoAni stuff Re:Creators looked good for what it's worth... right? The action and the fights they had were probably the best thing they had to offer. That's the one thing I wouldn't recommend though because frankly, outside of that it had very little to offer imo. Maybe if you're big into Ten-chan because she performed her heart out in that series. 3-gatsu no Lion simply because it's so out there if you're not used to Shaft doing Shaft things. It's not necesarily better or worse from a production value point of view but it does look so much different at times that it's worth to check it out to see if you like that or hate it.
There's also Owarimonogatari 2nd Season as well as Hibike! Euphonium 2 in terms of sequels. Owarimonogatari looked absolutely stunning and while I haven't watched Hibike2 myself I have to assume that it must have looked equally amazing if not better (if you're not into Shaft).
|
Hibike looks amazing. But that's just kyoani being kyoani. Violet evergarden might even be the most beautiful thing in all of 2018 if going by 2d animation quality. Cause that looks way better than hibike.
I just want all my action animes to be made by orange now though. Try houseki no Kuni, fantastic staff and production

Ya, houseki no Kuni is fantastic!

I thought Shingeki no Bahamut had better art than current One Piece episode, and it does look a bit too animated instead of a regular anime like DBZ for example. To me Bahamut felt pretty immersive and their world looked pretty cool.
|
I haven't watched it but I've heard only good things about it as well, both from about animation as well as story. Maybe not quite as standout as the other 2 examples you've mentioned but still good.
But I wouldn't really compare them to OP or DBZ. Long running (shounen) series and seasonal anime are produced quite different so that's really apples to oranges.

The Key Visual gives me a ton of hope for the anime, seems like the staff understands the manga well.
