Usually I watch 2-3 shows but I will probably follow like 7. Edit: https://myanimelist.net/anime/season. 6 shows that can crack 8.0+, including 4 that can aim for 8.5+, and even one that is so far at 9.0+ (those generally come down and don't remain in the top 10, but the first Steins Gate is well rated). MAL has always been a place where you couldn't trust the ratings. I feel like this point has become stronger over the past 2 years as MAL has has been growing in a rapid fashion. Lots of new seasonal watchers and they will rate anything that his the seasonal hip a 10/10. If i had 5 amazing shows one season but 20 god-awful straight up 1/10s one season and 1 good show and 20 mediocre shows another season i'd still call the season with 5 amazing shows the better season even if on "average" it was worse Because i just drop shitty shows so they don't really factor into my enjoyment Same here. Most shows a season are terrible anyways. What matter is how many good shows there are.

True but for some shows we are already at the 3 episode mark. Aside from the garbage character designs, I have certainly enjoyed the first 3 episodes of the new LoGH.

I think my only other real problem with the new logh beyond the character designs is that i'm not too big a fan of switching side every episode, i prefered the more (imo) fluid back and forth of the original. The sad part is that this adaption won't even get to something as early as + Show Spoiler + westerland being nuked

True, same for me. It's not as big of a deal for my enjoyment but I did enjoy the way the OVAs did it more as well. I think Sent said the new adaption just follows the novels closely though, so I think the switching withing episodes might have been an anime original thing in the OVAs.

This trend of cashing in on successful series of the past has gotten way out of hand, most of the sequels aren't even second seasons but third or more. Then there's also the spin-offs and reboots (one of which is arguably the most unnecessary anime reboot ever). There's only 1 noteworthy original and it's an anniversary project for Ashita no Joe.

Sequels aren't a bad thing but they shouldn't dominate a season like this, it's just not healthy in the long run.

This also matches the fact that the pacing is on par with the old one and they only have 12 episodes. They however talked about making 3 movies for season 2 iirc, so i guess if that gets greenlit that's where we'll get to that specific scene.

This season is just same as usual for me even if there are so many sequels for me to watch since it's basically the same amount I usually do. Well, if you always watch the same amount as you usually do, then perhaps you simply select the same amount of anime to watch, which renders how many shows you are watching as a measure of quality of a season somewhat pointless as you will always consistently rate a season the same as any other.

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2018-04-17/anime-producer-yuichi-fukushima-endures-harassment-over-darling-in-the-frankxx-episode/.130524 [...] Fukushima wrote two tweets about the series' 14th episode on April 14. The first tweet thanks the episode's staff for their work and requested viewers continue to watch the show next week. The second tweet complimented the episode's unique ending sequence. Both tweets have received comments ranging from disappointment in the episode's content to death threats towards the episode's director and writer. Others are posting a doctored image of Zero Two holding a pistol with the subtitle "Say Ahh!" and have threatened to kill the screenwriter's family. Other comments are calling for Fukushima to fire writer Hiroshi Seko or even going so far as to suggest Seko kill himself. Some fans were angry enough about the episode's content to start a #Bitchigo hashtag to vent their frustrations and even stating that they wanted the character to die. The #Bitchigo hashtag was predominantly used by English-speaking viewers and the harassing messages towards Fukushima do not contain the hashtag, and are written in Japanese, Chinese, and English. Many of the comments seem to originate from throwaway accounts, possibly to avoid getting banned from Twitter. Anime News Network has reached out to Trigger about the current harassment and will update this article if and when a comment is provided. man I get it when we have some waifu-wars in here for shitz and giggles and it's all good and fun but come on, you have to realize you're going too far at some point... right? I'm sure those are people who think they're being funny and it's all just jokes but seriously that's fucked up

No I definitely don't do that. I don't go "I wanna watch 8 shows" then pick until I have that. I just look and see what is entertaining and add it to a list until I gone through every show. I know exactly what I will enjoy and what's being hyped up and that's my list usually.

wotaku ni koi wa muzukashii P-Chans PubG adventures Highschool DxD 1 of those shows I consider to be garbage, one of those I consider to be surprisingly good and one to be quite good. So to me it's a rather average season right now. (oh and Darling in the Franxx but that doesn't count towards this season)
