I couldn't quite tell if Suruga forgot about going out with her when she got obsessed with Hitagi. I was pretty disappointed that Hitagi wasn't in the car with Araragi though but get why she wasn't. Think Suruga needed to resolve her feelings on her own and if Hitagi was there she may have latched on to her again. As as side note does I also wonder if Araragi's popularity with the underclassmen has to do with going out with Senjougahara. I imagine all the underclassmen must near worship that woman. Araragi's popularity actually were Kanbaru's doing. In one of the earlier books, Kanbarujoked with Araragi that she told all the girls in her year that Araragi was sort of a lucky charm that can grant everywish or something like that. Guess she did more than joking. She never hang out with Numachi either, they were basketball players on rival school and met a few times, that's it. Just a note i remember Hanekawa saying during kizu that araragi is famous. But i am not sure if it was just empty flattery. Knowing Hanekawa it could be true. Maybe it's just all in araragi's perspective that he is lonely and other shit. Araragi was famous because during middle school he was acting like fire sisters, except even worse, not that he was popular.

Bits of Kanbaru's exaggerations and bits of his own infamy I'd think. After all, he was supposedly already infamous pretty early on for being such a degenerate in a highschool meant to push out college-bound kids.
Oh and as Ragz said, middleschool era infamy also carried over.

Those weren't the squeals for a delinquent though. Those were some gentlemanboner squeals. I knew he had a reputation from middle school but I thought it was more a "eww that guy" kind of rep.

Yeah, which is why Kanbaru magic... especially Kanbaru has her own fan club, it's easy to fan the flame! #uta

Forgot which book but somewhere there was a line about how well recognized Araragi was combined with the popularity of Kanbaru, who exaggerates about Araragi, led to this state of affairs.

How is the relationship between Kanbaru and Araragi in the LN? She seems to have this weird like/hate thing with him in the anime.
|
Like/hate? they seem like fuck buddies .. only without the fuck part lol

Impression I got from anime is that she hated/was jealous of him for being the one to help Hitagi and date her but she eventually gets over that to a certain degree. Then their inner perverts connected on a deeper perverted level so now she just looks up to him while doing perverted things to mess with him. Think a part of her still hates him for being the one in Hitagi's life but wouldn't go so far as to say she has a like/hate thing in the anime, seems all like at this point. Do wonder about the LN though.

Are the events in between the end of hitagi end and suruga devil in some other story? the fact that Kaiki was narrating his own story from an inn (!) while in the story at the end it was all snowy and during the narration no snow/melting snow kind of gave it away. I do remember that I didn't catch up on that until I rewatched the first episode of the arc once the arc was completed though.

The whole Kanbaru being perverted thing should've gotten adjusted a little with Hana.
Except it didn't.
Kanbaru only acts nearly as bad as she does when she is near Araragi, as one might notice from how she was in Neko and Hana. And more often than not, she acts that way to avoid being serious with Araragi. Their relationship at this point is pretty much a standard senpai-kouhai one with the elder taking care of the troublesome latter. Kanbaru's jealousy still hasn't gotten sorted out entirely, but nothing quite of a hate level.
Well all the stuff in Hana is after a bunch more events inbetween shown in S3 so just going to stop here~

I always got the feeling that if she was serious with Araragi they wouldn't be friends anymore. Even now in the anime she still thinks of Hitagi constantly saying how beautiful her form is etc. It's really hard to be friends with the person that "stole" the person you love. The whole inner pervert comment was kind of tongue and cheek by me. She doesn't really do anything that's bad except mess with Araragi. The whole boob grope thing was a bit weird though.

Seems like Kanbaru and Araragi would be pretty good friends if not for the whole Hitagi thing. Its really just a matter of time before she gets over the things that she is angry about.

The state of the mass amounts of dirty books in big piles around her room suggest otherwise, but yea I do get the feeling that she is just doing more then usual whenever he comes up. Like I said though this will change, I mean he basically stole her middle school crush, not something you hold a lifetime grudge over and other then that the 3 seem to genuinely respect/care for each other

The visuals are rather exaggerated by Shaft there, while she does have quite a bit of stuff w/ erotic content, it is more that her room is just really messy than that it is literally flooded with erodoujins.

It's not just that Hitagi is dating Araragi, it's also that he was able to save her while Kanbaru couldn't do anything for her. Don't know if she'll ever get truly over that.
