Edit: I also really hope Akatsuki no yona stops with the constant flashbacks. I get it, they were childhood friends and had it fun together, i didn't need another episode of flashbacks to understand that.

It's clearly a comedy. Anyway yeah, they'll probably go amnesia route, but I'm hoping for death route.

Still somewhat liking it though. However, if every episode has that much flashbacks, then that will change quickly.

+ Show Spoiler [Ep 3] + + Show Spoiler [Ep 7] + lmao that cliffhanger ending. There are times when THIS WAS ALL ACCORDING TO PLAN works. This was not one of them. I can't hate on good cinematography, and Giant Robo had it in spades. The music was also top-notch. Plot-wise, it was ok. I felt like the show tipped its hand a bit too often with really obvious foreshadowing. The net result is that I figured out most of the plot twists before they happened, but I'm not sure if that was the intent or not. I also kinda feel that they didn't really explore the themes of the story as much as they could've. The irony and tragedy of the end was executed decent. I can always dig a good tragedy. It wasn't LoGH tier tragedy though. Character-wise, I felt the series was kind of a mess. Every so often, new villains and good guys would appear for seemingly little purpose (eg. the finger-snapping bad guy, the drum-beating good guys). It seemed excessive, and most of them ended up being inconsequential. Random note: I thought Issei Doujin was going to be important since he's an Expert of Justice, but uh, he doesn't really do anything? It seemed odd, considering how all the other Experts played at least some pivotal role, even if they were one scene wonders. The main characters were generally developed ok. Tetsugyu in particular I felt had a good development arc. Ginrei's development... was kinda haphazard at times. I don't know what the fuck she was trying to accomplish at the end, though I could wager a few guesses. Daisaku I didn't really like. I guess he gets a bit of a pass for being dumb since he's a kid though. In short, it was good, but it could've been better.

Also, in regards to all the characters that appear in Giant Robo. The original Giant Robo manga was written by Mitsuteru Yokoyama. Giant Robo: The Animation is not only Imagawa's take on Giant Robo, but he also draws heavily on almost everything that Yokoyama ever wrote. So all the other members of the Magnificent 10 that show up, all the random members of the Experts of Justice who show up, they are all drawn from othere Yokoyama works, and are featured as an homage to the guy's career. More or less, anyway. I felt their inclusion helped make the universe of the anime feel that much bigger. On October 22 2014 08:03 AbareKiller wrote: I thought fuuka started alright. Suzuka never really got my attention, and Kimi is a fucking rage fest after he dumped best girl. Half and half is really good though, both the original and remake Also, I think I'm ready to talk about MLA without the tears and **ptsd flashback** Did you finish it?

+ Show Spoiler + Takemikazuchi is underused. The squad got shafted for Sumika after the PTSD arc The Valkyries felt like they were introduced to be canon fodders. Although other age works aren't translated, so that may be part of the reason. Sadogashima mission is badass Battle for HQ is super badass Cherry Blossom... don't think I can accurately describe my feeling Meiya got majorly shafted, especially as the secondary female protag. That ending is tear-jerking The conversation with the Beta superior is sorta underwhelming. 6/10 for Extra 7/10 for Unlimited 9.6/10 for Alternative

Meiya already had her route in Unlimited, so it was Sumika's turn to win. And it turns out Sumika is bestgirl, so it works out. Now, if you ever feel compelled to go back and re-read Extra, the foreshadowing and nods to Alternative in it will make your brain explode.

The Takemikazuchi was hyped to be the best TSF Japan has to offer, but it was underwhelming at best, aside from Tsukuyomi one shotting Sagiri's Shiranui. Like, Meiya doesn't even have to win. But Sumika(and by default, Sumika-lite) monopolized the second half of Alternative. Other characters got no screen time.

the fact that sumika was my least favorite of all the girls including the addons in alternative. yet i had to play through alternative focused entirely on her story hindered my enjoyment

And as what you should know from playing Alternative, Alternative does not work if it is not Sumika Route. When it is not Sumika Route, you get Unlimited. Thats how the plot works, and that shold just be a given. And I'm pretty sure if you liked even Chizuru more than Sumika, that makes you a bad person.

^ not possible given the context of the series. The only reason Alternative exist is because Sumika's possessiveness is so powerful it warp time and space to pull Takeru back every time he bone another chick. Non of the other girl has enough backstory with him to be the 00 unit (captured by Beta, survived being debodied)
