Damn, was glad that they made Yusuke have demonkin blood and I'm glad to see that he'll be going to the demon realm. The whole special aura that only Shinobu could use was pretty silly imo but whatever, I've seen other shows pull off stuff just as bad lol. Only thing I don't like is how they keep reviving dead people. Like, amumana died using his ability but Konema revived him with the Mafuba right before he was going to face Shinobu weakening it. Just seems silly to kill someone then revive them etc...
It makes it hard to believe that any MC will died, well, except Yusuke lol.
Also, what is it with shows and people deciding to just get married out of thin air? Happened in db too. Goku thought it was food and agreed to it and now we have Yusuke asking Keiko to marry him 3 years after he comes back. On the bright side, I'm excited for them to explore the demon realm and to see Yusuke fight both Kurama and Hiei. It's coming! :D
+ Show Spoiler +I really disliked that particular arc because I thought it was boring as fuck. Some ridiculous abilities that seemed out of place and the fact that the villain was developed after he died... bleh. I liked the upcoming arc much better.

They build up something cool, and eventually just go "fuck it" and abandon the entire thing they had been building up to.
Also related to YYH, I finished reading the manga for it recently, and I don't think I usually say this, but the anime is sooooo much better than the Manga. I commented something similar in the early parts of the manga, but its the same throughout! Plus YYH manga's ending makes fucking Bleach's ending look like a masterpiece. Its a wonder Togashi got any work again after what he pulled at the end of YYH.

kind of annoys me each time i watch them, they take so many 'creative' liberties with their translations ending up with subs that are nothing like what the characters said just to keep up making hell/heaven puns
fucking awful I've been thinking that maybe they're outsourcing it to Commisubs but I don't particularly hate them so I don't mind and just laugh when itadakimasu gets turned into that... whatever it was that Vigne said etc

half the time the subs don't even closely resemble what's being said, we're beyond localization, we've reached a point whre the subbers are essentially just writing fanfiction and calling it a translation

I didn't mind the subs and am amused at all the salt over it :D

Anyone that has watched a great deal of anime knows that the subs are a bit flexible. The Japanese language was once described to me as being like a puzzle - the same words in the same order may mean different things depending on context and intent. I don't know how true that is - but how many ways have you seen "Mmm!" or "Hmph!" or even "Hai!" translated in subs?
Anyway, I thought the pictured translation (on CR; that's where I watch) was taking it a bit far myself but it didn't impact that Vigne is the most angelic of all of them. (BTW, who's Coalguys?)

why is "what you want" いただきます? do some people actually want to see hiragana subs in their "translation"?
I'm actually quite ashamed of myself atm. Considering the fact that I probably know more Japanese than the average anime watcher, I have never noticed sub groups doing shitty translations so far, and honestly have never really cared about who translates the anime I want to watch, I just pick the most seede-- i mean.. the most popular option.

actually for those who want to learn japanese, japanese audio with japanese subs would probably really be the best.

Edit: nevermind, apparently just a rumor

that doesn't help you learn japanese in any shape or form. You need translated text to draw parallels. japanese subs could only help you learn to --read-- japanese. Then again just seeing kanji without any furigana won't even help you with learning to read it. and on top of that anime is bad for learning japanese anyway. Good at making you think you're learning though.

Yeah, it's like the Chinese Room thought experiment. You'd know how phrases work but I don't think you'd be able to map the meaning very well, if at all.

Good at making you think you're learning though. of course not for starting out that way, but if you're somewhere in the N3+ range that probably makes things easier? I find myself wishing for subs in japanese sometimes for the things I watch raw. If you have audio + text stuff is less likely to go over your head since you'll increase chances that you know either how it's written or how it's pronounced.
Like (normal) japanese TV shows with all the text written on screen the way they do is really nice for me

Yeah, okay so if you already have proficiency it helps a lot - that's what my old French teacher told me anyway.

welp, I can't disagree with that. (except that maybe english subs would help you even better with things not going over your head, lol) Honestly anime has ruined me. I'm not so used to subs, that I can't even watch english movies/series without subs properly. I'm just too used to them being there

I think when you're at a certain level you might be able to pick it up from the context.
Also is anyone else here reading Grand Blue? It's amazing.

Haven't yet, but after checking it and reviews about it out it looks like it should be in my readlist by tomorrow.

I find that it's one of those things that made me laugh the most after a pretty grim playthrough of Katawa Shoujo. Doesn't matter what I'm feeling, it always puts a smile on my face.

Wow, someone actually remembers Rem? I thought people had already forgotten about her.
