This thread combines three fanclubs into one, following Artosis, Tasteless, and finally the greatness that is them combined.
Artosis
Dan "Artosis" Stemkoski started out his career as a Terran player in Brood War. Though never winning a title, he qualified for the WCG USA Finals a whopping seven times. A long time contributer to the Starcraft community, he became widely know for his commentary in the Team Liquid Starleague. In 2008 he moved to Korea to work for SCForAll, covering professional Starcraft. He performed interviews and covered current events in his show the "Starcraft Weekly".
In Starcraft 2 Artosis decided on Zerg, playing for team Meet your Makers. In the HDH Invitational he lost in the Round of 16 to TheLittleOne. He competed in IEM and qualified for the Season 1 GSL Round of 64 before losing to NEXFreeSaGA. Recently Artosis has begun playing Protoss, although he has not yet determined if it's a permanent switch. In addition he left team Meet your Makers, though stated in his twitter that it was not the end of his playing career.
Artosis will be a guest commentator for TSL3, he is also the Head Coach for Team World in the GSL's Korea vs The World tournament.
Nick "Tasteless" Plott started out in Brood War as an aspiring Random player before switching to Protoss full-time. He qualified for the 2005 WCG USA Finals, but got quite possibly the worst bracket-luck in Starcraft history. He lost in the first round of the Finals to his brother Sean "Day[9]" Plott. After losing he remained at the tournament to cheer on his brother, but noticed that the commentator for the matches was fairly inexperienced at Starcraft. After convincing the staff to let him cast the matches, he impressed the staff enough that he was allowed to cast the WCG Grand Finals. Shortly after he was approached by GOM TV who offered him a job in South Korea casting their new Starleague.
Tasteless casted the three seasons of GOM TV alongside co-casters Susan Kim and Daniel Lee, before negotiations between Gretech and KeSPA broke down and GOM TV fizzled.
In Starcraft 2 Tasteless played Random in the beta, competing in the HDH. He defeated his brother Day[9] before losing to White-ra in the Round of 8. After release he settled his main race as Terran. He was hired by the Evil Geniuses team to be their Starcraft 2 Divison Manager. Recently he has switched from Terran back to Protoss.
Artosis wrote: it is the name of our casting archon.
Long-time friends Dan and Nick first came together to cast Blizzcon 2008 and the WCG 2009 Grand Finals in China. Following their success there they casted Season 2 of the Team Liquid Starleague. They were soon dubbed as Tastosis, a combination of their two handles. Together they casted Blizzcon in 2008 and 2009, joined in 2010 by Tasteless' brother Day[9].
In 2010, the pair were picked up by the reformed GOM TV to host the GOMTV Global Starcraft 2 League. As of writing they have casted the first three seasons together, although were absent for part of the beginning of Season 2 in order to cast Blizzcon 2010.
Sign me up! I love these guys :D They do such an amazing job and what they're doing for the starcraft community is priceless. Thank you both so much <3
Seriously though, I can't believe we're just now seeing this thread. Tasteless and Artosis are awesome and they're doing so, so much for esports, dedicating basically their lives right now for its advancement.
It is actually really crazy because I was watching them cast the games this morning and thinking of starting up a thread similar to this one. These guys don't get enough recognition for the awesome job they do and the constant improvement they have shown us thus far. Good job guys, you guys honestly cast at your best when you are just being yourselves, not worrying about the dumb criticisms, and just let it all come natural like that Keep it up.
I highly enjoy watching the live stream with these two casting. They make a lot of dorky jokes, really know their starcraft and I've learned so much from watching and listening to them. Go Tastosis!!

He's going to be working with them to help set up their house in Korea next year, and is going to help EG members that go to Korea. He'll also be dealing with any issues that might arise among the players.
Also, updated the OP with Liquipedias and fixed a couple spelling errors.
Nice made and read, defintely informative and great to hear about boths history in the Starcraft scene. A huge surprise to me was reading the Tasteless brother is Day[9] damn i didn't see that one coming ! They're both doing an awesome job in GSL !
Last matches I watched, I felt like Artosis was so sad... I don't know, like he was really tired or disappointed at something, it actually made me sad.
It seemed like he wasn't enjoying the jokes or Tasteless, he barely tried to add something while Tasteless was speaking before the games, stuff like that... did anyone also feel this or is it just me?
Maybe he was really tired from all the bo3 matches =O

I noticed it too, yesterday they seemed a little off and tired. They needed a weekend to go back to the shield battery and recharge.
I absolutely love the video of them casting WC3. "Blademasters are like speed vultures that are also DTs" They pretty much just make fun of WC3 the whole time.
yeah these guys are awesome, entertaining to watch and drop some nice nuggets of strategy here and there too. And easier on the eyes than your run of the mill nerd!
I can't imagine them having a low fan database as they cast the major SC2 tournament. They're a great combo in my opinion, as they keep the hype up while providing decent information at the same time.
This is something that's been bothering me for a long time now. Yeah sure this video clip seems like its from eons ago but it's probably more like from two and a half years ago. Can smoking really fuck up your voice in that short amount of time??? The strange part is that Tasteless actually has a better "casting" voice now. He sounds like an actual announcer. But seriously, Tasteless from 2007 is completely alien.... Unrecognizable.
Sign me up :D That pic of tasteless holding dimaga "poster" and artosis with the gogogo! is awesome :D Cuz tastosis fighting and dimaga figthing as well! ^___^

Original Message From Artosis: I'm not really sure what to call it...I am using Protoss currently, and will use it in the code a qualifier, but I don't really know how long I'll use it for.
So he is playing Protoss right now, but there's no guarantee of it being a permanent switch.

Artosis cheer up man...be more confident around Tasteless (he is finally doing a great job), we all know what you bring to the table...its been kind of hard to watch with you killing the mood in yesterday's games.

One criticism, just stop saying " O i think this it" or "yea thats it, gg " when there's molecules of hope.
As a fan I want my commentary to keep whatever it is I'm watching exciting even when sometimes it isn't.
And I hate to criticize I do, I love you guys, but I think that fact that you've been wrong with these statements multiple times and the idea that being told something " is over " really makes the viewer not care to watch, makes it valid. The statements have their place, but on a first attack where really anything could still happen, call it like it was a play instead of a final blow...if that makes sense.
oh my god the latest quotes video had me in stitches =]
Major respect to Artosis for actually calling out BitbyBit in his last game. Screw the sugar coating, much appreciated honesty there, that shit was terribad.
The last cast was so good I bought premium because of it =) Enjoying HQ jokes now!
@Warrior Madness It was the group with ChoyaFou in it, I don't remember which day or group, but he is in Group B of round 16 if you want to trace it back.

On a side note: Can't wait for Artosis gets trolled PART 3, these video's SO crack me up each time i watch them! :D
The problem with making those videos is that once I edit it down, about a year of interviews last about 2 minutes. It takes a long time for enough to build up to become something watchable.
What was the saying "letter letter, cheddar cheddar, feta feta, now you feel better?" Oh man I know I just butchered that absolutely horribly....forgive me.
Hahaha, today was a great day...when they were talking about the "Tasteless Raxes" I was dying, same with the "Aggressive Tasteless Contain" with the sentries Why can't they commentate OSL/MSL too
I'm a huge fan of Artosis and I admire his personality. He gives so much to the community and he doesn't get the proper recognition sometimes. Artosis in my #1 figure in Starcraft 2 right now, if I meet him one day, I'd ask for a signature and I would frame that signature and hang it in my room, that's how awesome I think Artosis is. If it wasn't for Artosis I think the foreign scene of Starcraft 2 would be terrible, hell, worldwide Starcraft 2 scene would be horrible.
Tasteless is a great guy, he has the same freaky personality that his brother (Day9) has, but he's more crazy I think. He makes watching streams a great experience and he knows how to actually make you enjoy a terrible game and of course introduces awesome Starcraft 2 memes (Tasteless build anyone? Or maybe the secret Hallway? Or the classic PandaBearGuy).
Tastosis: I thank you for your effort your put into the Starcraft 2 Community and I hope you keep going from being the best to the BESTEST!
I was just listening to quote compilation #5 and to my complete surprise gf says: 'Jeez I hate these 2 guys. I go to bed and I hear them talk, I wake up and I hear them talk'. I didn't even watch GSL that much recently.

Whats up dude's, Jinro and IdrA are getting much love since they made to the Ro8, but Tastosis need some love too, no messagues in a whole day is too much! <3 I just loaded FOXLyn VOD since I missed it today, my internet was slugish and had to pause to load, and when I look at the screen, Artosis gives me the creeps
Is he a robot that gets activated as the cam goes on? or some Vegetarian way of saving energy?
Tasteless's smoking voice sounds like Solid Snake to me, and I love to smoke sooooooo he's dear to me. His voice has matured btw... he's an epic man nerd.
Moments like these make me wonder how these guys keep entertaining game after game...seriously you'd think they'd run out of jokes by now! The only one I ever think they repeated was the (hilarious btw) Harrison Ford "where's my family!" AF1 joke.
Artosis and Tasteless are two of the most epicly baller casters in the world. I swear, their presence alone could make an awful game entertaining for me.
Wow, talk about a buzzkill, especially when Artosis keeps going without saying a thing, oh well, as long as they don't stop the shoutouts we'll be fine.
"Actually I'm not quite sure about that, he might be able to pick the command center off! IF HE GETS THIS COMMAND CENTER THIS IS SO PIVOTAL FOR THIS GAME RIGHT NOW I AM NOT EVEN KIDDING."
"It looks like Draco has probably practiced this strategy AND OH MY GOD YES HE HAS CAUSE THERE ARE TWO DTs COMING OVER HERE RIGHT NOW"
Count me in on this fanclub. Sometimes I enjoy listening to either of these two (more or less them together) more than watching the actual game that they're commentating.
Tasteless recently mentioned on his Facebook that he and Artosis did some voice acting for the movie Haeundae...
"Some generic stuff, like documentaries and voices for commercials. I did voice acting for the "TG Sambo Intel Classic" add that was used for sc1.
Artosis and me have had our voices in Haeundae. Biggest budget Korean movie to date although not very good. Our voices are in the scene with the american helicopter rescues the Korean fishermen on the boat (it's in the korean version of the film, we didn't do any dubbing for the English version)"
I think I hear Artosis at about 2:43 but can't find Tasteless.

Artosis seriously single-handedly elevated the latest team finals into the greatest team spectacle I've ever seen (been watching BW since 2004). Artosis...seriously man, you are a nerd's gift from heaven.
I'm really looking forward to March's GSL, and seeing the 1v1 lineups again. The team league would be a great permanent addition to Tastosis's schedules, I hope Gretech switches off month to month doing that. February had a great GSL, good times Tasteless and Artosis, thanks again to Gretech!
"Not only did Jinro knock you out (PoltPrime) but also, you fell to code A. Then NextLiveForever goes to the army and you get in through an extra qualifier that wasn't even supposed to happen because of that. - Yet he says he deserves to be in Code S! (As opposed to Jinro) PoltPrime is full of it, what a crazy person!!!!"
Hahahahaha! I love you for that right there Artosis, so true!
It's really really cool to see what amounts to the subtle beginnings of what became their livelihoods begin right here. Tasteless saying "I wonder if they'll let me do it in singapore", Artosis quitting his job "every year" in anticipation for the SC tourney, Day9 being a young Thoughthammer even back then, dropping the knowledge on his fellow players. What a cool little time capsule of "where it all began.
It's really wonderful to see the things that day9 was talking about in daily100 come alive. And also all the little seeds that were planted that would shape the course of the future. Tasteless going back to the announcer to check if they'd allow him to commentate in Singapore was so cool. It's like seeing an apple fall on Newton's head and him saying, "Hmmm, I've just got this weird idea."

Chill and Day9 come close but... come on, there's no contest. Updating OP right now, sorry it's been stagnant for so long but I'm hella busy at college.
sign me up too. I'd love to know what type of cigs tasteless smokes (Mild Sevens?) and if he smokes herb. I'm sure after casting an intense game, theres nothing better than a stoge. I doubt theres access to herb in korea but Tasteless seems like a guy who blazes. Artosis seems like a guy who appreciates fine beer and can tell you all the intricacies about the hops and aromas.
Just been watching this match between Marineking and Sen. http://www.gomtv.net/2011championship/vod/64028 The stuff they're going on about at the start about making a film out of Tasteless' life had me lolling so hard while sat on my own, not much actually makes me laugh out loud on my own, but these guys always manage it. Absolutely love them <3
Man the Tastosis Highlights are hilarious. For a moment I feared the last minute would be gg over and over, luckily it wasn´t. Also the full boss number discussion was good, too bad only half of it was in there.
Breaking news in GSL WC Finals, Tasteless's voice has magically healed and returned to its old BW GOM state. I can't believe how much better he sounds.
Tastosis has spoiled me when it comes to commentators, aftr hearing them so much some people just irk me with their casting, Tastosis #1 casting Archon :D

If I've heard correctly, he's been seeing a speech coach to help him not lose his voice.
These two are the best that could have happened to SC2-Progaming being broadcasted in the west. I am am fan of them since i first watched GSL, but what mdae me realize how much they carry the scene was the new Code A casters. Gom could not have made a better decision.
Lets start a trend on Twitter, Hastag #Tastelessladders and put down your own stories about tasteless on the ladder, if you've been watching GSL may you know exactly what I mean.
Huge fan of Tastosis. I was looking for a rap song about this fabulous casting Archon. I don't remember the name, nor the producer... I can't find the thread on TL.net and I was hoping somebody could link me that thread.
The only things I remember: 1) It is about Tastosis and it is a rap song. 2) Some parts of the song: "we are handsome nerds" "look at boxer, you can never outbox him" "Hit the zergbong and drinking Nestea" 3) GSL is also mentioned a lot in it.

"Cast that shit" I think was the name
I think you can find it on artosis favourite videos
They work so well because they're so close irl, so their synergy is totally natural, and they're both such charming guys that even when their jokes are awful I still laugh just because I like them :-p Glad they're doing the up and down matches every day, always a pleasure.
is this really him? he is so cool in a psychopathic serial killer way
Yes that's really him, he used to be hella hardcore.
Also I'll update the OP soon, I just got home from college so I'll have more time. I'll probably be making a new quote video when I have the free time as well so, much love to all tastosis fans.

They're payed with the heads of their ladder victims. Artosis sometimes takes mercy, but Tasteless is just ruthless.
Money? Pff, the fuck can you possibly use that for.

However much they make, they make way too little.
I wish them all the money, pussy and time for SC2 they desire.
Epic cast today It might be lack of sleep, but during the NASL cast today when artosis talked about doing DT drops, I had a vision of a broodwar artosis suddenly appearing out of nowhere and punching present artosis in the face for DT dropping
Tastosis' cast last night was the best i've heard in a while, I wish they'd get rid of the FXO player-casters and pay tastosis to cast every day. That could just be me being selfish but seriously tastosis cannot be compared to the wolf/unstable or wolf/qxc casting teams.
SIGN ME UP! Met these guys at the NASL finals. I had them sign my Brood War disc. They thanked me for giving them an original clean Brood War disc to sign. Honestly some of the nicest down to earth guys ever. And by far the best casters in the business.
Tastosis are the greatest casting duo ever. I went to the NASL finals and I bumped into them while wearing a pirate-bird shirt from their site, and tasteless says to me "hey nice pirate-bird shirt, you're looking pretty sexy in it" <3! I nearly threw the back of my hand across my forehead and passed out on the spot.
Guys, if you haven't heard/seen yet, there is a "donation call" for a document about Tastosis.
Just check it out! And if you have some extra money lying around, why not help the project out for the community. I personally can't wait for this, as long as it is going to happen! Just thought that this would be great to share here.
If you play Starcraft 2 then you know Tastosis, a team of two nerds casting video game matches and living the good life in South Korea.
What you may not know is how they got there in the first place. How did these guys drop their lives, move across an ocean and become one of the most influential casting teams in the world today? How do you get to sick nerd baller from just plain nerd? That's what we want to find out.
THE IDEA:
We want to live with professional Starcraft 2 casters Tasteless and Artosis for one month in Seoul and document their lives.
We're going to tell their story, how they met, how they started casting, the risks they took to get to Korea and what they went through when they got there. A secondary narrative will parallel Tastosis story with the stories of other pros who have also risked and sacrificed to get to the top.
The thing that sets this project apart from other films of its type is that we get to live with our subjects. We will have 24 hour-a-day access and get to film them at ANY time (when they are ready for camera as well as when they are out drinking, sleeping, in their underwear, playing games, chasing girls).
Why are You Doing This?
There is no more enthralling, magnetic and or wholly new thing today than the Starcraft world. It has become more than just a game to follow or an economy to build. It is a culture, a family and a philosophy. It is a top down game that spawned a bottom up society, where the stars are the fans and the fans are the stars. We want to show what its like to live the life of a Starcraft heavyweight in the world epicenter and birthplace of modern professional gaming.
Where is My Money Going?
All of the funds will be used for production costs such as:
- Hiring professional post production, sound, graphic design people and a translator
- Purchasing equipment, lights, lenses, hard drives, gels, stands, umbrellas, light meter etc.
- The Kickbacks pressing dvds, making posters, creating a site to download the film and buying t-shirts
-Travel expenses like plane tickets and food while we are there
-The plan is to stay for one month but depending on funding the stay can be longer
As it stands we are ready to make a bad-ass Youtube video. With your help we can make a piece of gaming history.
They're so funny tonight in the GSL Semifinals, the motorcycle noises and imagining Artosis wearing a helmet and kneepads while being handsome and playing starcraft; WONDEROUS. Sign me up =]
The best casters either by themselves or together, but of course, Tastosis is a combination of their awesomeness!!
I found watching the GSL fun since Tasteless is my favorite caster. He may not be on par with Artosis when it comes to game knowledge (Artosis really understands SC2) but I love his voice and his humor.
but please please say the word "Nerd" less. I have no problem with the word, but don't use it like ~75 times in one casting -_- (I think, maybe even 100 times today? 150? I didn't count). It gets annoying.
Great casting as usual. The best casting duo of the universe. x)
It's amazing how their jokes never get old, they know when to talk about the game and when to talk about random stuff. When they do talk about the game it's spot on, when they don't it's funny and sometimes they talk about the game in a funny way.

I agree with this. I think they're the best casting duo in the world, but 'nerd' is definitely overused. It was funny for a while but it's getting old.
I've never been somebody who has any interest in autographs and stuff, but today I got Tastosis to sign my mousepad and it makes me happy. Seeing tasteless, who I've been following since '07/'08, live in my hometown was just great. And both are just superfriendly and awesome nerds. Hopefully they keep doing this for a long time. =)
PS: They are not nearly as tall as everybody always says. :D
Such good casting yesterday and the day before that. I was super entertained and the games were so good, too. This is what it's all about. Tasteless regaining passion ? It seems like the break was good for them but I wish they casted other games besides Code S too. Just think how good proleague would be if they were casting it.. I can't even imagine as it's still very good as it is now.
Back in 2011-2012 there was a guy, Opossummypossum, making compilations of Tastosis quotes and funny moments in the GSL. Is there still somebody doing that? It's a shame I can't find any new videos on youtube.
guys, I was reading Artosis's hearthstone wiki page randomly and I found this:
His filmography includes a voice acting part with Tasteless in the Korean disaster film Haeundae (Tidal Wave), where the two of them voice American helicopter rescuers, and a starring role in the documentary Sons of StarCraft, which chronicles his and Tasteless's careers as players and casters.
