Holding on against the all-in after it went unscouted, with no tanks or banshees and only 1 bunker, then coming back through relentless harass, great to watch. He turned a game where many people would have thought he's dead into a dominant victory, even with Dark only getting 2 hours of sleep, that was really impressive. But I agree, he has to show more in the match-up before he can be considered anywhere near 'the best'.
Also Bunny's TvZ is honestly very good.

Against Dark, he played much more aggresive than we have seen this year, dropping everywhere, bringing freedom to every mineral line, and just putting on maximum pressure. I have been wondering why he has not played like that lately. He adjusts to the style his opponent is playing. In the first game, Dark played roach/ravager, a comp that struggles super hard against multi-pronged aggression, so TY fully exploited his multitasking. In the 2nd game, once it was clear Dark was going ling/bane/muta, TY turned down a bit on the harass and focused more on frontal pushing with a few backstabs. And I have to say, he looked real good doing both.

But just compare the series yesterday to Dark vs INnoVation at IEM Katowice and the skill difference in Dark's play is extremely obvious. In both series, Dark played 1 LBM game and 1 Roach-Ravager game, but the ones against Inno were just on a completely different (and higher) level.
To be fair, those games at Katowice were some of the best I've seen in 2017 so there's a lot to live up to.

The only offline zerg TY has lost to in 2017 is soO in GSL S1 right? I can't remember any other losses.
(not that he plays that many offline matches)

(not that he plays that many offline matches) He's played 9 offline series against Korean Zergs in 2017 and won 7 of them. He lost to soO in GSL Ro8 and ByuL in VSL qualifier.
Sample size is tiny, so I would hesitate to draw meaningful conclusions.

He plays so little zergs I guess. That being said he hasn't looked weak against any of them (I haven't seen the ByuL game in VSL). Even when he lost to soO he looked unbeatable for half their series

From what I've seen of TY he is a bit too passive against Zerg (contrast with Maru or Inno or Byun) and lets them tech up to Hive, which is a Terran-consensus terrible idea. Granted, his lategame Ghost/Lib control is fantastic, but against Ultra/Infestor or BL/Corruptor it only goes so far. The best control in the world is useless against fungals, nor can it overcome endless free units.
TvZ is very much a matchup where raw mechanics dominate (ByuL, Inno, etc), and TY tends to rely on his mind.

Playing iAsonu in the Ro8 is the best case scenario for TY, really. Especially considering the other 2nd place players. Shouldn't have too much trouble getting to the semis if he's ready for iA's aggression.

TY should win. Only Inno and Dark have a chance against him. But TY has the best TvT and Dark wont reach the final

He always loses to herO and ByuN though.

I forgot herO always 3-0's him. Hope Inno crushes herO first.
His only match against ByuN this year was in SSL> ByuN won 3-1 but every game was a proxy (apart from the map TY won). In a more serious tournament I'd expect him not lost to such stupidity

there is a very high possibility that TY wins this tournament vs iA he should win then most likely vs inno and TY is a tvt expert and in the final waits soo who will get another silver medal because just soo things

Except Inno is practicing lots of TvT's lately.

Except Inno is practicing lots of TvT's lately. Inno put on a TvT masterclass against Maru yesterday. That said, TY has always had excellent TvT (though he didn't look that great against MajOr and barely won the series after MajOr went full foreigner).
I would guess 50/50 between Inno and TY right now, but the games are virtually guaranteed to be amazing since both of them like to macro up.
|
Welp now we get a 3-0 herO instead. Silly Inno ruining everything.
|
Great, now herO wins. Amazing
|
TY might have improved since, but going from consecutive 0-3s by herO to actually winning is gonna be hard.
The only way he wins is if herO decides to go for the macro game like on map 5 against Inno. TYs lategame is still perfect normally.
|
I think TY actually stands a chance. He just needs to realise he is playing against herO and play safer.
|
"Just needs to realise he's playing against herO" people say that every time haha
|
He just needs to overcome his greatest enemy. Scouting.
|
TY looking so strong. And whats up with all the smiling? Seems like he is enjoying himself.
Really sucks he's going up against herO, his kryptonite, especially after that loss to sOs. Think he would beat ByuN convincingly in the finals, or have very good, even games against Rogue.
