This is the closest we got since + Show Spoiler + won GSL and lost ro4 in SSL I mean both stats and dark could make it happen so the chance is decent tbh. Realistically i wouldn't bet on it though ^^ Inb4 we get Dear and sOs winning

Oh yeah he got second at Sanghai too, I forgot that :/ But I still think it's a close fight, Stats is really really freaking good. God had he beaten him in RO8 It would be another story

Stats has been more consistent, but has only won 1 trophy (GSL). Inno has dropped out earlier in a lot of tournaments, but has won 3 trophies (IEM, SSL, GSL vs the World) plus VSL.

The difference between a really high finish (ro4+) and a championship can only count for so much. starleagues:
Inno: 1st, at least ro4, 5th (~ ro4), ro8 and ro16 Stats: 1st, at least 2nd, at least ro4, 4th (~ro4), ro8 Stats clearly wins this, even if stats loses all his matches from now on and inno wins GSL it's probably a Stats win. other (That iem win was last year)
Inno: 1st, 2x ro8, ro16 Stats: 2nd, ro4, 9-12th and ro16 Inno with the slight edge here, if we wanna count results of the last 12 months then Stats gets a 2nd + 3 ro4 finishes on top of that and wins this category as well. Stats' results were just insane the last 12 months, i think Inno is always more in the spotlight and might be scarier in general, but Stats simply keeps winning important matches and just tournament results based he clearly is on top atm.

Call me myopic if you will, but I personally weight the trophy far more than a second place or semifinalist finish. First loser is an oversimplification, but the last hundred meters are the hardest, and they make all the difference between victory and defeat.

A Trophy in the long term means more than 3 second place. Ask soO about that.

Like sure a first place counts more but this:

A first place isn't worth more than three second places in my eyes. soO can say that on an emotional level but the difference is minor tbh. "Worst case" it's one map win/loss. Personally i find it hard to even value 1st place twice as much tbh. When i look at Stats' results over the last 12 months i see an insane run which might be up there with the best we ever had tbh. Inno won more tournaments but his overall results are imo clearly inferior atm. But GSL, super tournament and blizzcon might change that depending on how well stats does.

Stats fellt in GSL, if INno win this... but I really fear for him against Dark, we'll be fixed in two days. CHEERS

Dark is scary but I have faith, with only TvZ to work on Inno is going to be a beast

3 cheeses and 4 double-banshee mech builds. Who said Innovation wasn't Innovative again?

but i still think if he didn't go for these cheeses, he could have won much easier. Apparently Dark lost all the games Inno went mech.

He didn't stomp Dark today. But against sOs ???? I'm fucking sure.

wooow i'm tunning and see his face with Gyuri (while I thought it started hours laters..) sad to miss the match but good to miss the stress.
Gratz INnopation. You're the absolute best.

Tough to say. Dark stomped his mech build in Game 1, and got nicely ahead against it in Game 2 before Inno pulled out some great fights and managed to pull off a comeback.
The first time Inno cheesed, Dark went 3 hatch before gas and didn't have scouting until Inno had proxied a Rax, Reactor, Factory, and Starport -- he kinda botched that game tbh, and Dark made a miracle hold.
Game 4 Inno cheesed again and won, although he got some bad luck when he couldn't snipe a hatch after taking it down to like 30 health.
Game 5 Inno went back to the mech and won clean.
Game 6 Inno went for the 2-rax that worked in Game 3, got the hatch that Dark gave up, but fell for a 1-base Nydus and lost.
Game 7 was back-and-forth, and it was genius counter-attacking and army-splitting that won the game, he easily could have lost if he'd gone for straight-up fights against Dark's Viper/Brood.
TL;DR every game could have gone either way, wasn't a build order thing.

Inno didn't stomp, but he did play amazingly well. The reason he didn't stomp was just because Dark is also an amazing player and put up one hell of a fight.
Best series I've seen in a long, long time. So happy that Inno took it.

sure, also we can't really expect him to stomp the best ZvT in the world. beating him is good enough.
