Don't expect something super deep or engaging out of the genre.

The real fun of the game lies in killing things (with the same skills over and over again). If you don't enjoy that then you certainly won't like the game. It's not just him, I preordered, tried out the free Torchlight 1, and found it awful compared to almost every Action RPG I've ever played, including D3. Hopefully Torchlight 2 lives up to the hype, because Torchlight 1 is worse than FATE. (the semi-freeware game it's based on)

Hope this will bring some better gameplay than the failed D3 It's, pretty much, better in every regard: - Watch it in action: http://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Torchlight II - TONS of loot, and not the boring D3 loot. Like, we're talking about CRAZY affixes. And the good loot looks aesthetically amazing. (Case-in-point: TB's legendary bow: http://www.twitch.tv/totalbiscuit/b/332317471 [Go to ~1:25:00] ) It makes his Outlander go from looking drab to looking like Drow Ranger from DOTA, but even more majestic and phoenix-like. - It's $20 bucks (the same price as the first installment). I mean, c'mon, even if you HATE the genre you can't pass this up. It's even cheaper if you buy the 4-pack for $60. - There is, now, an extra 4th class! - And, most importantly, it's just plain FUN! You can probably see this by watching any stream. But here's a review by digitalforce on the runic forums that hints at it: http://forums.runicgames.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=33174 and again on the D3 forums (for the luls): http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/6607191406 Some of the guys who worked on D2 have been working on this game for 2+ years. These guys know what makes an ARPG successful. It seems they have the 'magic touch' that many gamers may notice was missing from D3. But all-in-all, if you loved TL1, or you have any self-respect for yourself as a gamer, you should buy this game. Just do it.

There are some amazing mods out there that vastly improve the game. The best part about Torchlight is that you can fix things you don't like via the editor and enjoy content others have produced.

http://kotaku.com/5943951/torchlight-ii-vs-diablo-iii-the-comparison-we-had-to-make It is from kotaku so take it lightly but they say tl2 > d3. The most critical points from the review are the customization of character skill sets and how the main story is gobbledygook hodgepodge but with tonnes of interesting sidequests. We never need a dramatic storyline, we just need something interesting enough to give us more reasons to kill more monsters (and get moreeee loot). We'll see for ourselves soon!! cant wait :D

I think the aesthetics of it are wonderful, it has a distinct artistic style, it has crisp, clean textures, smooth animations, and the whole ambiance of the game feels great. That said buying games on steam from Serbia is retarded. Looking to win a copy in some giveaway, seems like mission impossible. EDIT: would gladly pay even 30-40e for this, seriously its a shame there is no hard copy distribution. *sigh* won't be playing TL2 for a while :/

Can't you have someone else pay and then send you a key? There must be people that have spare keys over with the 4 game offer.

Supporting indie developers is all nice and good, but if you have no legal means of obtaining the game, just get it via TPB.

Well the bank said something is wrong with my card or account or something, and I just don't feel my money is safe getting it through unknown people, many of the payment instructions are just too shifty. I don't know I really don't want to pirate this game, I would happily trade my Diablo 3 or SC2 account for it but apparently Blizzard bans people for selling accounts... aaaarrgggg EDIT: and I don't know if you can separate them... can you?

You could try go to tf2outpost look for trader with the game, they usually ask for dota/tf keys. Well, buying keys require card transaction too i guess xD unless you have friend play the game too may be they can help you.
