It's probably shadows from smokey/foggy areas (was for me at least). I bumped shadows down to normal and haven't had any lag anywhere since (everything else maxed).
How do you see the damage on screen? Only the damage of the last hit that kill the mobs will pop up. There is a dummy at town but beating without seeing any damage is pointless.

It is one of the drop downs in the settings menu. Read them all very carefully because it isn't immediately obvious by just glancing through. You should know it when you see it though.

That one is by far the easiest one I've been into (one of two I managed to clear out of four). The reason they're so hard is that the monsters appear to be set to your level(+1?). I'm playing on elite clearing things like 5+ levels below what level I currently am so when you suddenly have crap that is super tough it becomes impossible
I have cleared two so far and i just arrived act2. How many are they in act1? The other one i did was the three totems spawning skeletons.
I also got one robot part from act1, how many are they in act1 lol
Anyone has a falcon set item apart from the gloves? I want that set bonus so badly (23% atk speed lol). I have some embermage and other nice unqiue if you wanna trade, pm me to join my game.
Btw guys i heard that hackers are out (this is no surprise at all) so remember to set password/level for your game (not sure if they can hack in with password on but thats all you can do atm i guess).
Also, DAT act1 boss LOL epic stuff.
All my problems have been solved by rerolling engineer ^_^ Outlanders are absolutely terrible (or maybe my mixture of stats was screwing me over). Regardless, I'm having a lot more fun on engineer so win win.
Also anyone figure out how does the transmuter work? Keep combing my good gems into a shit one >_> I think the phase portals are set instances rather than random or have like a 50/50 chance to spawn one instance or another. We were in vent chatting while playing last night and they seem to be the same for everyone. Rolled through them ezpz on my engy. Believe there are two in act 1 (one in each of the big outdoor maps).
Never heard of robot part. In one of the bandit caves I found a bottle of lotion though and I'm curious if it has any significance or if it was a joke.
Ha the robot part is in the 'secret room' of that spider cave go get it!
I think for outlander Dex is the main stat, my crit now is 500+dmg and i crit nonstop lol! That lotion will get you a executioner's hood gives you mana/life steal (put the lotion in the bucket of the cave), i keep that item caused i think it is 'special' haha

Mine actually does decent damage. I let it fire a few rounds on an elite and it actually dps'd more than me, lol. And spider mines are op. Like seriously. You can have up to 9-10 walking around with you exploding whole packs of enemies in seconds.
edit* also the gunbot scales 5% per lvl, that's huge.

are you lvling up ur mines or leaving it at lvl1/5 or something? I'm starved for skill points :X
Anyone else having major major major visual legibility issues? Full disclosure, I had no idea that this was a thing people thought about, till I saw some D3 art guy talk about it, but now that I know the term, it seems like it perfectly describes a big problem I have with the game at the moment. Especially when my friend and I finally got to play co-op, between the 2 transforming pets, some extra summons from my Outlander procs, and the characters themselves, I was having a lot of trouble just telling what was going on.
I do think a big part of this is the lack of enemy health bars, so here's hoping for a mod soon.

The stat system isn't so straightforward as to allow you to just designate a "main stat" to pump. All of the stats factor into the damage equation, and a lot of it can be dependent on playstyles. In the case of the Outlander, the DPS formula is a complicated mix of Strength and Dexterity, with a splash of Focus if you do significant Elemental damage or dual-wield. Optimizing your DPS requires you to build up all of your stats, not just stack a single DPS stat (in fact, Dex is probably actually the worst of the 3 stats to stack, because while the % damage boost from Strength/Focus scales linear up to the max, Dexterity scales nonlinearly with later points being significantly worse than earlier ones--100 Dex gives you 25% crit chance while it takes you 400 more Dex after that to get another 25% crit chance).
I realize now that the initial DPS math-craft I did for the Embermage is less practical than I expected--I overestimated the amount of Weapon DPS-based damage I would be doing (currently the flat burn damage from my fire spells is doing a lot higher portion of my damage than I guessed would be the case), which means that Focus is much more important than I thought it would be (% Weapon DPS spell damage on spells like Magma Spear scales off both Strength and Focus--but spells that deal flat damage only scale off Focus).

Yeah, I have the exact same issue, it's really annoying and gave me a few untimely deaths. Also, the skilltree is really underwhelming, I hated it in Torchlight I and I still hate it in Torchlight II. The respec guy seems to be some kind of troll too. "here, let's respec the last three points" -_-. The lack of skills also annoys me, level 27 and still using auto-attack and the first skill you get alongside the heal bot...but that's about it. So far it's pretty meh for me.

Yeah, it will be the first skill I'll max out along with healbot.
Question: Forcefield's upgraded version gives the shield buff to alies too. Does that include robots? If it does, it will be so awesome.

I'm just curious how well those scale since they aren't based on weapon dps
