I pretty much enjoyed Diablo 3 until I killed Inferno Diablo. Never really went for a grinding item hunt.
Now with torchlight II , i dont see how this game could be any better than diablo 3 ?
first off, the controls. The first thing your character does when you move it is sliiiiiiiiiiiding to the SPOT. The walking anymations and a lot of other animations are CRAP in this game. The textures are even worse than diablo's (didnt think that was possible, when i saw diablo 3 the first time). The game looks overall like a mod for League of legends.
The font ingame looks like from a game 10 years ago. Also dialoges. I couldnt stand to play it longer than a few hours.
So tell me, what does this game do to make it better than diablo3, for you? Because I dont see it
How can you say the textures are worse than d3, in the log-in screen in d3 my characters items are literally just a blob of dark colors. In tl2 textures might not be highres but they are clear.
Hitboxes and minor gameplay stuff like that could be better. The animations are superb and I'm judging as a 3d animator myself. Dunno why every clueless guy can say that the gfx suck, the animation suck, the art direction suck etc, when clearly they are illiterate on the subject.
It's the same story everytime I exit the local theatre. Every dude and his moma will say how much the script sucked, the pace wasn't right, the camera handling was lacking and I just cringe.

How can you say the animations don't suck, when I click on the ground, and before moving a leg, my character starts moving ???
it's like with all the MMOs out there where the animations just don't fit to the movement, the character does. strangely WoW does that to a perfect degree.
Why seems Blizzard to be the only company that can make character movement properly.
To me a game where my character is not able to move properly to my command, just can not be fun.

So you like games based on their graphics and not on gameplay. I can understand, but why not watch a movie instead?

it's also majorly the gameplay/control of your character that sucks in my opinion. see my post above

Seems like you're more concerned about the animations rather than gameplay. Maybe you should be spending your time watching Toy Story instead.

You play a comic game and joke about someone who doesn't like that, and tell him to watch comic movies? ;/ You should stop getting offended this much when the only thing I do is criticize a video game. Also you haven't mentioned a single fact that makes this game better than diablo 3 ? or is it all just subjective and all the TL2-rocks-D3-sucks shouters are the same who create threads at the release of every MMO and tell everyone how much a Wow-killer it's going to be?

you're coming into the only torchlight 2 thread, making baseless complaints about the game (saying animations suck) when i doubt you played more than 20 minutes of the game.
here is what is better than tl2 than d3:
- large variety of items, all classes can use any item with the exception of very few class-only items. (ex: barbs in d3 can't use ranged) - more interesting stats on items. % chance to cast spells, etc. - maps are not linear at all. the game itself is probably 5x larger than d3, with no narrow one-way-only passageways. - unique side quests with rare items as rewards (all quest rewards are random as well) - 3 completely different play-styles per class. i joined a multiplayer game, i was a cannon-summoner engineer and the person i was playing with was a 2h melee engineer. completely different play style. - server list for multiplayer. not "you want to do this quest? here join some random game" - pvp - end-game maps that are unique every time - real randomization, every zone (besides towns) is completely different every time you go into it - single player & lan - no RMAH - modable - $20
What is lv cap in TL 2 ?, I see items that req 65+ lv , many people write that you can end game in 45-50 lv.. so what then... ? how you can go to 65+ lv..

100
at the end of act 4, you can level up to 100 using maps, or go to new game +

But the other items do matter, not like d3 . I've seen uniques with 12-13 prefixes and rares with 7-8, rofl. I like it just how it is now, your loot is good, you get constant upgrades, but you need more farm for the best items in game.
And we have only being playing for 3 days. Give it some time.
Question: as a mage, if you use a wand that says something like "40-50 fire damage", does that buff the damage to your fire spells, or does that number only apply to auto attacks?
