Lol, they're not afraid of looking like a diablo copy. Guess it doesn't really matter as long as it is good.
It doesn't look like a Diablo copy, the art styles are polar opposites. D3 became a joke the moment they announced the RMAH.
They are just basing this off the UI. The Art Style aside it looks very Diablo-esque :p
I'm having a real dilemma here...I love Diablo but I love Torchlight...WHYYYYY would you release Torchlight 2 at the same time as D3, I want to play them both so badly ; ;

The only comparison that can be made between the UI's is that Diablo 3 is a straight-jacket, while Torchlight 2 is freedom.

Oh dear. Is there a single thread on TL where you'll actually add something constructive instead of just rambling on with the first thing that comes to your mind, regardless of context?
Not only does the RMAH have nothing to do with the art direction, but "polar opposites" isn't exactly the right term to describe a game that was not only heavily inspired by Diablo but also designed by some of the original Diablo team. The Torchlight devs have never hidden their inspiration, and why should they. TL was an amazing game.
I also don't understand the apparent urge of some people to nonstop shit on D3 just because there's a great alternative around. So you don't like the direction D3 is going and will play TL2 instead? Cool. Go ahead, noone cares. This fanboy-ish need to badmouth one product and praise the alternative product of your choice as the holy grail of [insert genre here] is beyond ridiculous.
Don't like D3? Alright. Play TL2. Other way around? Fine too. Going to play both? Cool. Just don't use every thread as if there's a desperate need for propaganda.
but lets keep this thread about TL2 and not another "d3 is better than every game ever" or "d3 is total shit and blizzard is scamming you all" thread, we have enough of those already.

Your name looks familiar, I may have argued with you in another thread... not sure which though.

Correct.

The inspiration is there. Diablo and Torchlight are mostly the same type of game, with mostly the same mechanics. But the art styles are opposite, cartoony vs dark and gloomy.

Would you like me to dish out a list of TL2 criticisms, every time I trash D3, just for balance? I could do that.

You bringing up RMAH had nothing to do with this game or this thread and didn't tie into your first sentance.
And you don't have to look up your post history to recognize you. I haven't and I remember you from several posts/arguments. Take that as you will.

The first sentence related to D3. and the RMAH also related to D3. But I've already said that the RMAH doesn't relate to the art style in the post you quoted.
And I'm glad that I'm memorable. That's a complement.
I think that Diablo 3 even tho it's made by blizzard, is too expensive. I would do it for 40 euros. So for me Torchlight and I will have to wait till Diablo 3 goes into sale or something. A 4 pack Torchlight 2 + 1 is as much as 1 Diablo game according to steam so.
The real selling point of TL2 is the mods that came out of TL1, so much freedom to tweak the game to be whatever you want it to be. Got maybe 50-60 hours of entertainment out of TL1, then another 500+ from mods.

there is pvp in game , u have to write /pvp on the chat i think, but there are no arenas or such thing, but modders can mod arenas into the game :D
cool, so there are mod tools?
then this game has potential!
Yes , IN TL 1 mods and tools was superb , now will be even better because dev's tell in some inteview that they give to players for FREE , tool that they made game on it.

There will be , even now in TL 1 you have like 20 classes made by community using mod tools , and they are pretty good balanced
