You don't get hammers from harbours anymore. You just get longer trade routes and +2 gold per trade route. I rather have the hammer any day.

So it is better to just play passive and then win the late game?
I remember back in G&K I demonstrated a Mayan Pangaea domination victory on Immortal difficulty with only melee units (no cbow, no artillery, no air units). For a while everyone tried things like Honor opener + early rush... after repeated failures I realized the best way to do this is simply to ICS as the Mayans, out tech the AI, then crush them with units 1-2 eras ahead.
The point is, at the end of the day, no matter how handicapped you are on domination victory, you can always do it if you have a science lead.

Just try to cripple them severely instead of eradicating completely. You'll also have less cities.

In short words, the idea behind domination is about getting ahead in a military tech, kill someone (or everyone left in the case of late game military techs), restructure, repeat.
So, get composite bowmen, take closest neighbour capital. Rest until crossbows. Repeat. Rest until artillery, kill everyone left. Or just rest in peace until artillery and kill everyone then.
Raze useless cities for happiness, keep only unique luxuries, ally mercantile CS, use ideology.

Better yet, keep your victim AI with only one city left - then bribe another AI to kill it. Attila preferred.

haha! i kinda like this bribing theme when I asked months ago.... haven't played for months... i wonder how will i fare now... your right... aim for science then wreck havoc when you reach bomber tech... but still, would prefer TOTAL ANNIHILATION of cities than capturing the capital only... "leave no city alive..."

The new map pack sounds unimpressive to be quite honest.

That would take ages on Deity due to the AI spamming cities
You can make a dedicated server but there aren't some offered by Firaxis/Steam. It still requires someone to run the server on a computer 24/7. Only difference I guess is ressource consumption, my guess being the dedicated server using SDK probably doesn't need too big of a computer. You can probably now also run the game on another machine without having your account dedicated to it.

So I only got the Gods and Kings addon but even though Steam did an update on my game today. Where the heck are patchnotes for G&K's changes?

Tried playing Germany with the new patch. It's a LOT better than the old Germany. Haas Banks are not too great because you still have to trade with City States to get 5% production per. But if you want to go to war, it's fairly interesting because you can switch all your trade routes to City States and go nuts. Germany is probably high tier now.
I am curious as to why they didn't buff Sweden or Byzantium. I think those civs need big help.

Glad to see they made Diplo victory harder... still sounds like the easiest type of victory though. Haven't tried the new patch yet, burned out from ~1500 hours played lol. Been some good recent times for TBS games though, wow. Just found out about the GalCiv III announcement too...

Endless Space is currently on sale at 8$. If you like civ, it has a lot of it... in space, especially on the colony side of things.
Might worth giving it a try.

Shoshore + Settler + Sacred Site is hilarious.
Also I am pretty sure Organized Religion is bugged now. Doesn't give +1 Faith.
