False sense and false idea? Who the hell are you to tell how people feels when they play the game? You coming into this thread after this much discussion and this is your contribution? This was nothing but provocative bs. Seriously, get out.
It's true though,
- Player A farms gear, Sells to Player C, Player C wears the gear, Player A no longer has the gear - Player B farms gear, decides to wear the gear
There's no difference between selling gear for RL money or Diablo gold, other than jealously
Gold farming in online games WILL happen with or without the developers agreement. Setting up an auction to safely handle this stuff instead of chinese farmers stealing peoples money sounds like blizzard is taking a step in the right direction.
Taking WoW for example, it's estimated that people spend $500,000+ every week in WoW gold/accounts. It's quite scary knowing how huge it is, but most choose to ignore it.

ok so heres a different example. a 17 year old kid works all day at school, but he still doesnt get a paycheck. now he plays d3 pvp in his 2 hours of spare time and gets rolled by some 30 year old guy who gets paid (GOSH WHAT A NO LIFE as you put it) and bought all the items.
you're only comparing super hardcore players vs super casual but rich players
theres so many other types of peopel who enjoy to play games, and calling people no lives while at the same time calling people tools for being haters makes you look dumb

Do you guys not realize that people are buying gear for money today (without this system)? Are you just mad that Blizzard can now make money off of this?
I'm just wondering...what's the difference between RMAH and any other website that sells gear for real money...(Won't put a link...but it's as simple as searching "diablo 2 gear" in google)

There is no discussion to really be had, there was going to be a market for these items no matter what Blizzard did, putting it inside the game at least will protect players who chose to purchase items.
Would *i* ever spead real money on a virtual items? Hell no, but Blizzard is doing the right thing.
And yes i know they arent just doing this to protect players, they will also make money, but is that really so bad? I mean Blizzard making some extra dollars? Blizzard? The guys who have given us AAA games since Warcraft 2?
They have given us Bnet for free for years, i can still play ancient games like Warcraft 2 and Diablo on their official servers, while i cannot play Halo 2 and many games from last gen on Xbox Live, a service that costs money.

The only argument you're making is against competition in a system with RPG elements (gears/levels), which is totally valid, but irrelevant to the RMAH.

The real money auction house surely won't effect the gold auction house......right?
Sure it will. They are the same market. When you buy something with gold you are still spending real money, just at whatever rate gold is converted to $$. Same goes the other way around. Gold has to be worth the same in both markets or else arbitrage exists. This is further simplified by the fact that you will be able to buy gold in the rmah.
You can choose which "auction house" to use, but it's all the same thing.

I can't wait for the first time some idiot buys something off the RMAH for $100 instead of $1.00 and demands a refund. LOL
I expect 75% of their 'support' will have to manage this feature. This is gonna be fun...

the point im making is that everyone can put in more time to recieve more reward, thats a staple of rpg gameplay. but allowing people to buy power not only makes other people feel shitty but its so far removed from the traditional system that a lot of people wont like it

I'm really excited for the shared stash between characters and hopefully the beta will start soon!

Just play and enjoy the game once it comes out, who the hell cares about what items others have?
At least when you quit d3 now, you can sell off all your stuff in a legit way...

I'm going to laugh when the D3 beta comes out on the 10th, the same day as the Path of Exile beta. Oh Blizzard, stay classy!
Edit~ Technique is right, just play to get your gear the old fashion way, it's not like other people having good gear is going to hurt you in any physical way in the game. It may just hurt your pride, but I mean you can just brush it off as "oh he bought that item idc."

Do you care if people bot, maphack, or outright cheat? It doesn't effect you. Just want to make sure I know where we stand on this one. It did not affect me in Diablo 2, why would it effect me in Diablo 3? PvP is the only situation this will hurt me and if they want to cheat in PvP more power to the noob. also cheating in diablo 3 will come with possible jail time(IE: botting and selling on the RMAH = fraud) Seems like you dont really care about much of anything then, I myself can't really play with blinders on. Then it is a simple decision for you, Dont buy the game and good riddance.
Yep, good riddance of the players who actually care about the sense of acomplishment in a game.

I got this thought today. Call me Mr. Paranoia, but what will stop Blizzard from secretly lowering drop rates of the most wanted items, then have a bot creating fake player accounts and selling them for full profit.
+ Show Spoiler +I don't really believe that ofc. Blizzard will make enough just through the regular RMAH that they don't need that. But this could happen if the RMAH became new 'industry standard' like f2p is now and games with less players would want to increase the profits.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish ?? Seriously i want to know... even if the RMAH did not exist sites like d2jsp would pop up for Diablo 3 and your argument would be moot... This game is not a game where you measure you cock against the next person it is meant to be exactly like diablo, and diablo 2... A grind fest for the best awesome gear. Who exactly are you competing with? Why are you so mad that blizzard made it safe to trade your items ? is it because they get some money and can support the game longer than they did in Diablo 2? I just want to hear A constructive comment from you.

This post makes more sense than the vast majority of posts in this thread since the news broke. People shouldn't be so naive to think the sole reason for this is that it is just to protect the players and give them a safe place to trade for real life money, but people also shouldn't be so stupid to think that this is going to horribly ruin D3.
