I doubt there are alot of people who don't buy RoS but still continue to play D3. Its definitly clear that this Patch is made with RoS in mind and things like the Mystic or some 61+ Materials are required to play the Game as it was meant to be.
But seriously, would you rather play 1.08 forever? :D
There's a difference between "the expansion is better" and "Here's expansion gear that you can't use", and "Here's a recipe you could use before, but now you have to pay us to access it again". As I said, I got Crusader drops and level 61 items, and I need RoS material to craft amulets. If you can't use it in Vanilla D3, don't put it in there...
The UI stuff is just an annoyance, but you don't see things like Swarm Hosts and Mothership Core greyed out in SC2 vanilla menus, they just aren't there. If D3 Vanilla is still being sold as a standalone game, then it really should be standalone.
And I think 1.08 would be better for the vanilla game, as long as the Auction House was still there (not necessarily RMAH). Yes, the game itself would be worse, but at least it would feel complete.
Like how D2 vanilla existed on Battle.net completely parallel to LoD. It wasn't patched or maintained, but it also wasn't patched to be a partial LoD.

What you are missing is, RoS and Vanilla players can still play together. So its impossible to make non-usable loot not drop. And you could trade your possible Crusader-Gear to a Friend you are playing with, that has RoS.
Just stop whining, when there is nothing to whine about. You got a great Patch 2.0.1 for free that adds alot of fun to a pretty much dead Game before and you are still whining about such small things? wtf is wrong with you?

^ this is asinine. If the guy doesn't have RoS, he shouldn't get drops that require RoS to use. If he wants to gear up his crusader friend he can just go buy RoS. It's one thing to be a-ok with a marketing trick, it's another to tell a guy that isn't ok with it to stop complaining.

So if anybody wants a new power leveling method. Just join power leveling groups on torment VI on act 1 quest 3. Just run the blacksmiths wife for ~18mil per run, under 2 minutes each time. One of the faster ways to level if you don't have ultra good gear.

I think I should finally get this game once the RMAH is removed.
Can anyone give me some insight into the state of trading now that they've added BoA and made gold no longer tradable. Exactly what kinds of items does BoA apply to? All legendaries, anything else?
Also, how's brawling? Does anyone take it seriously? Do people actively make games for it? Is there any semblance of balance?

All legendaries and sets, some of the crafting material, most of the high-end crafted gear. Basically the stuff people want.
Brawling community seems to be niche, but you can probably find some games without too much wait. Wouldn't expect a competitive and balanced environment, though, unless you join some brawling specific communities.

Also, how's brawling? Does anyone take it seriously? Do people actively make games for it? Is there any semblance of balance? Every legendary you get is BoA now, and the archon crafting recipes, hellfire rings, and demonic essence still are, but that's it. Trading outside of the auction house is still minimal, if not less with gold being non-tradable.
Brawling as was said is kind of its own thing. There are people out there who do it a lot and have the perfect items/builds for it but those people are few and far between; in general not very many people do it at all. There was a balance issue pre-patch, but that was probably all mixed up with the class changes so I'm not sure about it anymore.

But seriously, would you rather play 1.08 forever? :D That's not what he meant. He meant that Blizz made this patch a huge ROS marketing campaign at every step. Yes, it is true that in vanilla SC1 your marines had no way to recover health, but you didn't get a huge-ass notification "IN BW WE HAVE MEDICS WHO HEAL INFANTRY" whenever you played vanilla SC and your marines got hurt
I just have a feeling that Blizz is trying to give us a message. And this message is: "We don't care about you after you paid us. We will care about you when there will be some other opportunity to pay us."

Would be faster still if we could get 4 people together with a cyclone monk+3DPS to just blaze through instead of pugging. Specced my wizard out for dummy with 300k sheet dps. Too bad arcane power on crit is bugged atm,
I'm getting around 400M per hour doing this, which is not bad at all, could probably speed it up with an organized party though.
Started making my own games and opening to public. Speeds it up to about 450-500m because I never get a game where it's on the gate.

Given that paragon levels are uncapped and rewards stat points, does this mean that your stats can, in principle, be increased to infinity and that player power is uncapped?
Also, if you find legendaries you don't want, what can you do with it given that it's now BoA? Can you salvage it and trade the stuff you get from salvaging or do you just vendor the legendary?

Yes but as you level up, the exp increases so in practice you won't expirience infinite stat gain.
I'm just keepin every legendary I find atm just because the brimstone is only like 20k so theres no real point to salvage it, and I can't find anything that requires a brimstone to craft atm.

so what good is gold gunna be now?

You still need it for crafting and gem combining etc.

Is the game worth playing again? I only played the first few weeks and quickly got bored, I got to A3 of whatever the hardest difficulty was at the time.

Also, drop rates are insanely nice. Only played like 6-8 hours on new patch, already picked up like 6 legendaries, and tons of great rare replacement gear.
