Some guy over on reddit was playing Amnesia in the middle of the night when the power went out
It's almost 2 AM. I was playing Amnesia when the power went out. My room became completely dark. I am now ridiculously terrified.
I am typing this from my phone. I was playing Amnesia already scared when everything suddenly went black. The power went out. I was completely frozen in horror, thinking of any source of light within reach, when I grabbed my phone. A mediocre source of light, although good enough, except for a very low battery. That's when I heard the smoke detector go off in the kitchen, making periodic beeps (not a fire, fortunately) to let me know that the they were in emergency mode or whatever (I don't really know to be honest). But regardless, I had to traverse across the house with my dying light while the old house creaked. And as I was shaking in fear, I realized I was imitating Amnesia. I had my dying source of light in a dark, creepy area, while I had to go somewhere I really didn't want to go. Not to mention I was already shaken up by the game, the shock of the power going off and emerging into pitch black was awful. I'm probably typing nonsense right now, but I'm lying in bed typing this from my phone because it's the only thing keeping me sane.
TL;DR Power went out in the middle of the night while I was playing Amnesia, had to imitate the game while I wa shaking with fear.
ROFL, that was a very good story there. I'm too scared to play this game, I'd rather watch some guy play it on youtube and experience the fear through another person's shoes.
Watching Huko play this game on his stream; first time i've seen it. Looks pretty tight and worth getting. I don't know if i'm man enough to play alone at night with noone else in the house tho. However in some ways that is the best time to play it.
By the way my 2 cents of advice guys: try to beat this game in one sitting. I came back to it a week later and had to get reaccustomed to the sounds before I could really deal with the fear lol

According to their Wikipedia page, their next project will use a new version of the HPL engine they created to make Penumbra and updated for Amnesia. I'm looking forward to this, because the physics in Amnesia are well done and their object interactivity is amazing. It'd be interesting to see how they can use that technology in different genres.
I dunno but the physics in amnesia are just horribly hilarious.. even behind hl2 tbh can't remember how many times i throw a chair and it stucked mid air into a wall or when u grab something u have this item magically floating in front of you lol best game of 2010 still, imo

you should see Hamsteralliance's Playtrough. Its the best You can read the letters and he will wait with the story.
A bunch of us TL WoW guys picked this up and started playing it over the past couple of days. Incredibly intense, especially in a nearly pitch black room in an empty house! If you have surround sound and no one to bother, turn up the volume, turn out the lights and be ready to change your underwear once you start playing.
The game is very well done imo, it's not an amazing engine or graphics etc but the story immersion and gameplay are top notch. Once you're buckled in and get started it's very hard to stop because you really just have NO f'ing idea what's around the next corner or behind the next door. The amount of adrenaline this game pumps through your veins would put most thrill seekers into a fear induced coma while we heartier gamer types are able to just scream like little girls and move on to the next area.
Truthfully, this is easily the sickest, most twisted and beautifully insane game I've ever had the simultaneous pleasure and displeasure of ever playing. Highly recommend :D
Thanks for throwing out all this info on the game everyone I dont want to actually buy it and go through it myself since i'm not a huge fan of walk through type games that you cant fight back with but i am watching the entire walk through on youtube of someone who recorded them playing it. Gotta be pretty mentally strong to keep your wits playing this at night my hats off to you all that have done that ^^
After wathcing through some playthroughs on youku and Youtube, I had to go on an epic killing spree to calm my nerves down.
Said Epic killing spree involves:
CS 1.6 - Killing AND spraying the dead body with the remining bullets in a clip before moving on. Repeated until the round on the map was over.
SC2- Mass B/Slings in a 4v4. Was lucky that the opponent was all T and went mass marines. Repeated until more than 2 zergs in a 4v4 team popped up as the opponent. Hello dear Swarm brother.
CSOnline: Played Zombie matches, became a zombie, went left clicking blindly into everything that is moving, including fellow zombies. That was fun. Repeated until i infected every human being in the round.
Wish i could try TF2, mass turrets or something looks fun.
Amnesia has reached 200k sales, company now has the will to make another game with confidence they wont go bankrupt. Good to see talented developers making great games without publishers.
I didn't really like this game. But I don't think the game is bad, it's just not my kind of game. I could imagine it could be fun playing with a bunch of friends, while being drunk/high.
If you think the game would be more fun playing with friends, and drunk, then you have no idea what the purpose of the game is, or how it was meant to be experienced. May god have mercy on your soul.

A lot of people do. There are some hilarious reactions on youtube recorded with webcams. ^_^
If you have someone else with you, in person or via internet, or even the developer commentary on, you're missing out on what the developer intended. You're supposed to inhabit the character of Daniel and join him in feeling the horror that he experiences!
