In other news: Now sleeping with light on.
i'm pretty sure this equates to what every person has experienced when playing amnesia. i initially scoffed at my friend who suggested it, myself stupidly implying that "videogames cant be scary"
Posted this in the blog about Amnesia. I guess I'll post it here too:
If you are going to play this game then do so at night with all your lights turned off. Use a headset with the volume rather high and try not to rush through the game. Read all the notes and follow the story. You will probably have to take breaks regularly to remain sane though
I got this game today and have played it for 3 hours so far and I love it.

That's typical advice from someone who has only played three hours.
I did that at the start too. Then I got further into the game, and became certain that it would kill me if I kept that up.
Considering I can't find the game in any nearby stores and all, I was thinking of pirating it. Do you think this is a must have for any hardcore/casual gamer because I am interested in this. Thanks!

My parents won't let me buy stuff online and walmart is nonexistent here.

hey when you ever get the chance, just buy it. its worth every dollar.
I forced my friend to get this on steam and he says its just like runescape.. i go over to his house and he played 6 minutes because he didnt know how to get past Rainy Hall -____-
I bought Amnesia and played through the entire game, and it is one of the most satisfying, scary, and fun games I've ever played. I enjoyed the Resident Evil and Silent Hill series, but in terms of spookiness, neither of them comes close to Amnesia. I highly recommend this game to anyone that enjoys scary survival horror games.
As some of you guys may have seen I have been playing Amnesia on my stream. It is a big recommendation but every event startles you... I've had moments that I tried to muffle myself and even moments where whimpering could be heard on the microphone from your humble narrator (hehe, +1 for who gets the ref).
I'm only to the part where the elevator is functioning and i'm standing ready to take the elevator to hell... How terrified I am when I just turn on the stream and know that I have to play another hour :D (Otherwise I would only play in 10 to 15 minute stints, or room by room stints. As i'm easily scared).
And to the above posters, I also highly recommend this to people not being a big fan of the genre. Already got 3 friends into playing this and a bet for some Goldstrike on whoever finishes it first without watching spoilers and only being allowed to play in the evening/night in full dark rooms. I'm gonna pick up some diapers tomorrow, cos I'll be shitting my pants.
For anyone interested in the game, i'd recommend them to watch the trailer, it gives you a great picture of the game. Or watch my stream vods (self-promo!) This game is an absolute gem. And what it doesn't have in aesthetics, the game has in style... And even when you've seen what the monster looks like, it still scares the hell out of you... time... after... time!
EDIT: RyanRushia, I use livestream too, but you'll need to install an older version of Procaster to stream this game. Its rediculous but has to do... I got v20.0.75 or something working with Amnesia. but if you google Amnesia procaster quickly you'll get the link from the Amnesia forums

If there's a game that deserves to be bought instead of pirated, it's Amnesia. The game was made by a 4-person team in Sweden, and they are relying directly on its success. Considering how awesome the game is (as well as its relatively inexpensive price), they deserve any penny they can get.
If I were you, I would try to find a friend that has Steam, have them gift you the game electronically and pay them in cash. No credit cards required, it's just linked to your Steam account.
Ugh I played this at my friends house for like an hour and it scared the living shit out of me. I want to buy it but then again I really dont =P
Incredible game if youre into getting scared and whatnot, its so difficult to create games that are fresh and scary now days, its amazing how they did it.
It's truly a great game. The atmosphere the designers have created is something indescribable; it is the most I have ever witnessed. I have not played the game, just seen a full play-through of it, damn thing gave me the willies but it is definitely recommended that you play it at night, with loud volume.
If you have not tried penumbra, I would say try that as well. Made by the same guys. Not as scary in my opinion but this is a TINY indie game development company, their games deserve playing!
Amnesia was a pretty fun game but it was only scary at first. What ruined it for me was + Show Spoiler +
The fact that the zombie only appeared when you triggered something (e.g read a letter) and that he didn't just patrol randomly. Also after the first time he killed me he really wasn't scary but more of an annoyance.
Well, I can honestly say I've never been more scared in my life than when I play this game. I've only just begun(and I'm honestly not how far in I am) but I am on a mission to finish it, even if I can only stand about ten minutes of it a day without pissing my pants.

Played through it a few weeks ago, amazing game! The only problem I have with it is that I think the enemy encounters were abit to rare, at the start it's really scary and all, but as you play through it and notice, hey, there probably isn't anything coming to kill me, it just gets less scary. Definitly worth the money though, really great game.
