where can i register for the beta?
|
Not open to public puts a buzz kill to that news
|
This game has so much competitive potential(not surprising considering GW1 had incredible PvP). The PvE looks just as good.
Sylvari Mesmer and Human Elementalist as my first two characters.

There will be no public access to beta. Anet devs stated on guru that they are inviting people to test but there is no way to "sign up" to be a part of them. Any website offering to do so is a scam to get your personal info and should be avoided.

Honestly, Mesmer looks amazing as hell -- but EVERYONE will be playing them at release. I'll make sure to make an alt of one later on, for sure -- but sure as hell am not starting as one. Warrior master race.
Also:

On the top right of the box, there's a British Flag. Click on that to make it English. Has all the race/profession/weapon combinations and skills known so far other than Mesmer. Really damn interesting.

Hehe, mesmers were crucial in GW1 and very funny to play ... I sure hope they'll stay this way ;D

What's the exact lore on Mesmer's anyways? Are they just Magi but like...melee and support magic?

Essentially. We'll be covering the Mesmer in quite a bit of depth on tomorrow's podcast.

Ok, got the details. Podcast will start tonight around 8:00ish EST.

Looks like I'm going to be rolling a female human thief, like I did with GW1 (Female Assassin)

End of Year update.
Making these improvements has been really interesting and fun because it has shown us how our game can feel appropriately action oriented without taking away the familiarity of the MMO genre. We talk a lot about bringing dynamic combat to MMOs, and we have learned that the best way to do that is to retain a very traditional control scheme while letting the skills and their interactions define the combat. We wanted a player’s first impression to be, “I know how this works: I use ‘WASD’ to move, target with tab, and hit skill buttons.” But the more you play, the more you can see how the physics of the world and the nature of the skills create a totally different experience.
Updates on the "pickpocket" skills for the Thief as well. You can now steal shit from people with your F1 key and use whatever you steal against your enemy or future enemies in combat.
Basically they admit what I've been suspecting a long time -- the combat is based off of DotA and MOBA-esque games. This is honestly very exciting, as it could prove to be very fucking awesome. However, this has greater potential to bust and just absolutely suck in this genre as well. So far it looks fun as fuck, as they try to keep it as fast paced as possible -- but it's kind of weird hearing those words. I honestly love the idea of applying that kind of combat to this genre, but it just feels dicey.
Also achievements:
There are four different types of daily achievements:
Count-based e.g. number of kills, places explored Variety-based e.g. variety of actions taken in combat Challenge-based e.g. completing specific tasks Skill-based e.g. speed of kills, length of kill streak

500 x 4 = 2000 / 3 = 666.666666 repeating of course....
So over 650 people PER server. That is a LOT of people.
It seems to be split up into 4 "worlds" or something of that nature. So it's like, 500 people total in each "world" and it leads up to 2000 total, and that adds up to roughly 650 people per server in the entire thing. Which is pretty god damn cool. Also, there were pictures leaked of two of the supposed WvWvW zones. Here they are:

SWTOR is awesome but i cant wait for this
I miss the days of HoH/HA. The GW1 PvP was truely awesome.
Then i lost my R9 account :-( that tiger is forever alone ^_^
Remember the days where i was the only R3 in a R6/9+ group and they'd get me to bambi the teams after we won to think they'd lost to a lowbie group haha. Fun times.
Truely loved the days of running a WoH or Infuse Healer. Or being a fire nuker hehe, meteor shower the ghosts before they cap to get the win was always awesome.
Never did get into GvG much although i did play for a few reasonably ranked guilds, top 200/100. Nothing sub 50 ^^
Boon healers and splitting into 4 / 4 was just weird for me :D The days of obsidian spikes were hillarious though.
