I think gold is completely useless (other than buying gems and expanding char slots or inventary) That's because you didn't experience "endgame" yet. Be sure that you will need alot of gold at 80. Especially if you want to try and craft the legendary stuff, maxed out your crafting professions and etc. The waypoint traveling as well as the repair cost are starting to be pricey.

I think gold is completely useless (other than buying gems and expanding char slots or inventary) For players like me, who do not do the crafting, and mostly do WvWvW, I use my gold on very few things: * Repairs * Some waypoints (I'll run if it's relatively close, or port around to get closer in most cases) * Upgrades at the objective points * Occasionally siege weapons (I generally use my Honor Badges to avoid paying anything) And until WvW changes to 1-2 weeks before resets, I put in very little money in upgrades at the objectives. In 24 hours they'll be gone anyway - or if your server fails during a certain time of the day, it'll all be a wash too.

There was a patch applied yesterday that changed the crafting stations to now take materials directly from the bank.

like i never read up on it do you get some benefit when you switch weapons or is it for dealing with situations better?

Weapon swapping is just for dealing with situations better. For example as a Warrior you could charge in at a target with the greatsword, use your onehundred blades then switch to the Hammer to knockdown and cripple them. As an engineer I end up just chaining blinds, dazes, and slows with my kit to weapon swaps.

For instance there is a weapon rune that refills your endurance. Putting that on both weapon setups in a thief build stacked with evades and dodges and traited to gain vigor results in virtually unlimited dodging.

- do you think is a better idea to do the storyline quests when I reach 80 or should I start it asap? is there any benefect on doing it sooner? - is leveling in a low level area as exp. rewarding as leveling somewhere around your level range? thanks

So the level 25 story quest will give level 25 equips. leveling in an area in your level range lets you level up faster. but other than that, there's really no other benefit imo.
