Atm. I'm pretty into Path of Exile. The actual fighting part is, well, it's an ARPG. But I'm in for the theory crafting as the skill and item system have a lot of depth and that's one big thing I really love about GW1 as well. Then usually GW1, atm. not so much because I mostly play PoE for now. But I will play more in the future for sure. I tried ESO and it's pretty much GW2 but worse. Just a giant cash grab fueled by hype-trains around the franchise. For MMO's I was looking forward to ArcheAge but my hopes got buried when 1.0 got released in korea - that was terrible. Kinda looking forward to star citizen. ESO is like gw2 but worse?! care to tell me why? Well, I can't say anything about the story (that was one terrible piece of shit in gw2) because I didn't played it far. The point that the story is restricting your progress through the areas is not a positive point for an open world game imho. The combat was really the same, just added blocking and interrupting to all characters (gw2 has that, too, but bound to a few skills). All of it is funny. And doesn't really matter. I killed enemies in the gw2 way: circle around your target while pressing buttons on cd (melee). So, to this point it's the same, but it gets worse in the fluidity of combat. Your actions feel awkward and the game doesn't really tell you if you hit or not. It's like hitting cotton with your axe. The whole character movement feels completly inaccurate. I think it's even far worse than normal TES combat and that's an achievement to be done. For the world: I don't like the way gw2 took by making all areas feel the same because everything is full of the same races and copy&paste camps. You have no rough, lonely or tedious areas. There are some small ones like Dierdre's Steps which are fenomenal but they are far and few in between. The only areas that feel really good as a whole are cities. And still, gw2's world still feels alive and kinda believable. In TESO I felt the world around me was completly artificial. I can't really pin-point it but it was completly off (it was the exact opposite of the immersion TES games usually deliver). Can't really comment on PvP since I didn't played it, but considering the mess of the combat system and what it ended to be in gw2 I'm fairly certain it will be just as bad but with less fluid combat. If you look at the feature list of both games, they are pretty much the same (in fact, when TESO was first announced, I thought it was gw2's feature list). But Zenimax seem to deliver less production value and wants to grab even more money than anet/NCSoft. I mean Sub-Fee+Ingame Shop+Exclusive PreOrder DLC? That's way worse of a cash-grab system than gw2 has.
thanks man. really appreciate this. my friends and i are still going to try eso, but if the game is seriously as you say it is, ill probably last 2 days.
i really understand your points. the combat mechanic, the immersion of gw2 world, how you didnt feel that in TES. those are spot on things I am worried about. hopefully zenimax is not just a scam and will go into overdrive to make this game a success. I kinda have hope in zenimax because betheseda will be watching and supporting them. it looks like they are doing a cash grab, but they would truly be stupid to screw it up with such tactics. the amount of $$$ they could make if this shit is real and actually fun...is going to a be a lot more if they fix their shit.

Reinstalling GW2 just to shake off any extra MMO feeling I might have. I keep thinking I'm missing something from the game, so I will try it now.
Do I have to pay to transfer my characters from NA to EU now that I'm in Germany? If anyone's in a guild or something; invite me :D

If they havn't changed it, your version is region locked? If you bought your version in NA it might be the case that you can't play on EU servers from germany but only on NA servers. If they removed the region lock then you don't need to transfer to a EU server. If you want to transfer note that low pop servers might cost less to transfer to than high pop servers. And since they now fully rolled out the mega servers low pop servers are only low pop in WvW.

Yes, if you want to play on the EU servers. But I've heart that the lag to NA wouldn't be to bad.

Damn.
I'll just try NA and if I start finding people to play with in EU and I like the game; I'll pay for the transfer.

Won't lag bad still means you have a ping between 200 and 250. NA servers in GW1 didn't lag bad, either. But 200-250 is pretty bad for pvp etc. and even for normal pve you will notice the difference a lot if you are accustomed to a ping of 50.

Shit, I just logged in and was flogged with a shitload of stuff. I haven't played since that Christmas with the awesome jumping puzzle and snowballs (I think it was the 2012 Christmas). I pretty much hate all my characters though as they are completely not serious!

Reinstalling now, I had uninstalled before but you know what? I just want to meet people and do some pointless progression.

Hey, what level are you Torte? I'd love to play some GW2 but kinda lost heart a bit around lvl40 since I was practically running solo all the time. Joined some guild but it ended up being empty and inactive :/

Hey!
I uninstalled because NA was too laggy and I have to pay like 15 euros just to server transfer; how dumb is that? I researched a few guilds but they all went to ESO, Wildstar or FFXIV; so I'm completely lost now ):
I was thinking of trying EVE Online, but I don't think anyone wants to help; so I'm back to square one

Haha, I'm also trying out EVE now (for the second time) Seems we're both lost the same way ^_^
Perhaps you should try Genesis. It's been providing me with fun and MMO needs for about 15 years now and I'm still into it

TL is semi-active on Tranquility. You can always join newbie corps like BNI or E-UNI

You know what ive realized from playing this again over the last few weeks. I would so, so prefer playing the original guild wars with an active community. That game just has something its successor doesn't. I enjoy GW2 but i wish the playerbase just up and transferred back to the original so i could enjoy it again. T.T
WTS Droks run 3 plat.

I feel the same. GW is a game I will never leave and I wish it would be populated like back in the day instead of GW2 even though this will never happen. Anet let this gem die for no reason (other than the moneyz...).
That being said, I really enjoy the new patches. This is the first time they added a new area that is both very immersive in every aspect and delivers a lot of stuff to explore. But regardless of how good the new areas might be, GW2 will never grab me as much as GW because of it's core mechanics.

Just started playing again as well. Hopefully this time my friends will stick with it -.- I only ever got to level 80 playing with friends and then stopped. Never got anyone to do endgame stuffs Dungeons, Fractals, and even PvP has been untouched by me :[ If anyone wants to play together send me a PM! Usually on 530pm EST

If anybodies interested, i have a 25% off coupon for GW2 on the main website. Not sure if its EU locked since it came with my copy of wildstar in the UK.

Watch out for a guild. Dungeon runs etc. are organised in guilds since pugging for them is dead.
