MTG revisiting previous settings once = "running out of ideas".

I would like them to revisit Lorwyn and Alara, and I said I like them going back to Ravnica (although I don't like the name Return to Ravnica), I just wonder about the timing.

As we have said, there is nothing wrong with the timing. Karn pretty much said he was heading back to Mirrodin during Future Sight and years later we revisit Mirrodin in SoM block. Gideon said he was heading back to Consortium for help in Rise, and here we are re-visiting Ravnica. Plus Nicol Bolas is manipulating everyone for some reason or another (all of the major planeswalkers), so its probably fitting they all get together and compare notes.

Apparently the lands for Avacyn Restored are the lands from Innistad except cleansed (not sure if that is the right way to put it). For example: Avacyn Restored + Show Spoiler + Innistrad + Show Spoiler + Doesn't appear to be huge changes, a little less fog here, a little more light there.

Random, but all this lore talk has me curious. Where's Teferi in all this chaos (TS was also another favorite set of mine)? Can't wait for his Planeswalker card.

I think he sacrificed himself (or at least his Spark) to seal the rifts that he partially caused.
|
Indeed, Teferi gave up his spark to seal the rifts of Dominaria.
Also, Ravnica set. I am totally getting back into Magic in October.

Hmm, with miracle mechanic I'm thinking scry before draw step is going to be fucking nuts.

Miracle won't work the way you're thinking it will with brainstorm. It has to be the FIRST card you've drawn that turn. That's why Jace won't work either.
Edit: So if you cast brainstorm pre-draw then the first card you draw from the brainstorm will be able to be cast via miracle, nothing else.
Double Edit: A 3W flash/flying card with attached semi-astral slide seems fuckin' bonkers to me as well.

Eh, it's not Astral Slide by any means. There aren't any terribly good targets right now, Blade Splicer? Simulacrum?

I want to play in your world of standard where I can spend 4 mana to blink a Snapcaster Mage to spend a 2 mana (or 1 mana) spell consistently from my graveyard. Through Vapor Snags, Mana Leaks, etc. Unless they print something to hose the Delver builds and Lingering Souls, that card will not see too much play unless there is some super creature you really want to hit.
I am not sure about older and bigger formats though, but 4 mana is like near the limit of what you can play for most decks. As in you better have some good effects.

The revisiting of Ravnica seems conveniently timed with modern. Easy way to reprint a bunch of modern staples and lands without anyone getting too upset.

Say you had a mircale card in your opening draw for instance. But anyway, library manipulation stuff sounds nice.
Also Niv-Mizet. For some reason, his disappearance from Ravnica after his battle makes me think he might be able to Planeswalk. But then there's already been a lot of Blue Planeswalkers. Hm.

You are correct, I hadn't thought of that. Good point.

If the format slows down, I was never unhappy blinking a Solemn with Venser. Who can know? We might get a nice Wall of Omens type or, like you said, if they reprint Angel of Despair and you're in the late game?
That's a bit ambitious....Still, it's fun to play around with it.

Time to see some noxious revival miracles?

I would highly recommend playing the Cube Draft that is available this weekend (and probably later!). Doing the 4-3-2-2's is a nice pace to do it, you'll get about ~5.50 in bot credit just for winning a game, paying 7tix to get in.
Mono-red is the easiest and probably most consistently effective deck to force, but I've had a lot of fun with survival of the fittest decks, eldrazi ramp/summoning trap/hideaway, and greedy control decks like this bad boy...
