In my experience this happens because the IP you are purchasing from does not match with the country selected for billing location. It's all part of steam's annoying 'region locking' offering publishers the opportunity to rip off certain regions of the world (ie. Australia) compared with US/EU. Contact steam support and see if they can resolve it for you, the IP lock can be removed but it's on a per account basis.

Basically, they gave me a U.S-based steam store so I could make my purchases.

The Normandy opening of the campaign has excellent presentation and atmosphere, and though the difficulty is a bit uneven throughout the middle of the campaign, the end has great moments as well. Agreed. Company of Heroes had a really fun and original campaign, I thought that the destructible environments/cover mechanics worked really well with the setting.

Made my Europe purchases so much cheaper, when I was in europe for the summer sales. Australia is a special case though. Even though currencies may be equivalent, their minimum wage is double ours, so its natural their stuff costs more. Cause lets face it, when it gives me the option to either give me a 5 euro game (by default, I had a eurozone IP) or a 5 dollar game (via university VPN), I'm going to pick dollars.

I don't think you understand the entire situation when you say Australia is a special case. Sure our minimum wage may be higher than the US, however we have some of the world's highest cost of living. I personally just don't think it's right to sell a game online at different prices to different regions for the purposes of profiteering, it's the same game - set a price and make some money. If you ask me it comes down to a potential customer or a pirate, take your pick publishers. Back on topic.. I picked up Aliens versus Predator for $3.99, I remember playing AvP2 back in the day at a lan so I'm hoping this game can live up to some of the fun I recall having. Graphics look great from the videos.

Me too, when I got it I was expecting to have a bit of fun, then get bored of it. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's fucking AMAZING with capital letters, but it's good and definitely worthy of my money

The Spiderweb Software games (Geneforge and Avernum series as well) are all generally very good Indie RPGs. AFAIK the Geneforge and Avernum series are thought to be somewhat better than Avadon in terms of writing quality and character-building, but are also older and less-polished.

I'm sure Fallout 3 is, but at the same time I'm afraid it's going to require tons of time. ^^ Yeah fallout 3 is pretty much hundreds of hours and with mods it gets even better. Killing floor is an okay zombie shooter I guess, I played it for a few hours but it got pretty repetetive and the woman that sells stuff was annoying the SHIT out of me. ( I just have something against her dumb voice ). I'd say 4.50 is worth it, if you're into zombie shooters. It's alot more fun with friends though and there are alot of different levels but not alot of different monsters. Shooting mechanics are really fun and satisfying in my opinion. Haven't played Nuclear dawn.
