If the lack of versatility isn't a problem for you i would say Shogun 2 is the better one, tho i haven't played Empire.

The lack of unit variety in Shogun(2) is a bit annoying. Especially as the Ashigaru (basic infantry troop) are probably the best pound for pound unit in the game.

Actually from what I remember it gets even better because with the right level of enchanting skill and the right setup you can enchant 5 pieces of armour with Chameleon 20% each, in a stacking manner. So you can get a 100% invisibility Chameleon rating permanently, making you completely invisible but still able to carry out actions (unlike actual invisibility spells which break on actions).
Like I said, broken game mechanics.

I didn't like Shogun 2 at all. Got very, very bored far too quickly and the unit variety was part of it. I still think Rome Total War was the high point of the series. Empire is ok but quite different to all the others. Rome 2 is ok; it feels more complex but not as clean as the first. And naval battles are godawful in Rome 2 compared to Empire or even Shogun 2.
The bugs and AI have been considerably patched though, in fairness. Most of the funny stuff was just on release and Total War games always seem to be pretty buggy on launch (I remember a bug in RTW where siege towers didn't go to the walls properly all the time, they'd just stop about four feet short of actually being up against the wall and troops would run up, run off the edge and die ). Although it WAS considerably buggier than other launches. It also still has some performance issues, its improved since launch but there are still big gaps between turns as it processes and trying to run massive battles can get very bad. I've got a pretty powerful system, but trying to run a 4 AI v me "barbarians at the gates" kind of scenario for myself with large unit sizes turned it into a slideshow that I had to ctrl+alt+del.

Both for 6 dollars I enjoyed Wolf Among Us but it's not a point&click, your choices slightly change the story but it's more like watching a movie than playing a game. For this price, you should pick it, it's a very good game but it can be a little frustrating to start if you're looking for a point&click. Once I got through this little disillusion, it was a great game.
Yea Wolf among us is not really a "game" and feels more like a great story/movie. Your choices doesnt matter at all in the greater scheme of things but its still worth it for that price.
I think i got cured from the steam sale syndrome. Havent bought a game in the last 2 sales ( ok bought one game for under 10 cents but it doesnt count ! ).

So Valkyria Chronicles has crashed twice on me while loading a mission and there's no autosave.
Time to do the prologue a 3rd time I guess...or just uninstall the damn thing. At least it was only $15

Also it has the most number of active players.
Plus older TW games are cheaper and 75% off sales come around more frequently for them. It makes sense to get the most expensive game if money isn't an issue.
I just hope it's not a used copy since TW games require steam

Awful set of new steam sales T.T
|
yep, pretty underwhelming sale so far. For instance, although flash sale and community choice lasting longer (12hrs and 24hrs respectively) helps people catching those deals without having to camp for it (8hrs flash sale is kinda fast, I missed sometimes due to sleeping or outside activities), longer duration means less sale instances and less games on sale. That and also pretty much any game I have on wishlist is not on good sale so far T_T

Awesome, Endless Legend is a daily deal today. It's pretty much the only game I've been looking at getting. That plus some ETS2 DLC is probably all I'll get for this sale, but I'm happy with that.

These Sales get worse and worse each year :o
