Summoner's are actually decently powerful, just very low quality of life for a limited power ceiling that a lot of other specs can match pretty easily with much higher quality of life (resummoning, weak AI, weird things to scale like minion speed, etc).

+ Show Spoiler + First char I'm not sure. Kind of want to make another uber lab runner but not sure what to do, don't want to make another EQ guy. Maybe Poison LA, Facebreaker, Chaos Melee Totems, dunno

There are 3 Elementalists above him tho. Two 87s, one leading the race at lvl 90.

lots of different considerations than the normal game that I didn't think about before starting the race so a lot of things to improve on I stopped about 35 hours in since the guy behind me was slowing down and when I checked his build + gear it didn't look threatening. I wanted to get 1st in my class but didn't feel the need to push any harder than I needed to accomplish that. If I had the full motivation to play the last 13 hours then 90+ seemed very doable. I was really gear starved getting by on scraps and a 4L including troll gear eating all my currency repeatedly (I had to mod my loot filter mid race to play sounds when chromes and RGB gear dropped) but in the early 80's I went on an upswing and got a 5L carnal, some good life/res/stat gear and DPS wands. Also dropped a bringer and hege's in the same strand around this time, unfortunately they only trade for about 1.5 alchemy at the vendor in this league. Gameplay was very intense this league with all the mods turned on and then alching maps and not being able to scour/alch liberally due to lack of currency making the maps even harder. There is no APM counter in this game but if I had to guess I was probably 200+ in maps with 300+ in peak situations. Spamming every pot and key binding available pretty much non stop with manual dual cursing every pack and keeping up enduring cry all the time + orb of storms for power charges/blind. Found this clip that i felt captured the gameplay experience pretty well Here is the trophy for first of each class:

For me normal difficulty alone takes a day at least everytime... have leveling gear knowing area layouts questing with minimal walking, skipping unnecessary ones know recipes for basic gear - movespeed boots, +1 weapons, etc. take advantage of good leveling skills and builds then respeccing be efficient by only killing larger packs of white/blue mobs for max xp. ignore rares, uniques and other tanky mobs

1. don't kill every mob you encounter: - skipping tanky rares/uniques should be normal - don't kill 2-3 white mobs, they are not worth stopping for - the more over leveled for the zone you are, the more likely you should be to just run straight through, only killing stuff you can 1 shot that's right in front of your face or to refill pots 2. spend as little time in town as possible - as soon as you enter, plan to leave as soon as possible - don't go to town if you don't need to, a lot of new players (and experienced ones) go back to town every way point, only go there if you have a specific reason to do so - don't talk to every NPC, only talk to the one you need to for rewards, skill points, or vendoring. all new quests are automatic in POE, you don't need to talk to anyone to activate them 3. loot efficiency - don't pick up every rare, skip all the 3x2 and 3x4 bases unless you need them or that base is worth a lot this league (ie. vaal axe's a couple leagues back) - highlight the stuff you need in your loot filter, especially your first 3 and 4 link colors so you can switch to that asap 4. knowing your build - know when you are getting which gems (auras, curses, support gems, new skills) and have the sockets to equip them - know your attribute requirements, this is usually done by lvling in a way that gets you the attributes you need + knowing that you need a dex amulet or a strength belt. do not get stat fucked - passive tree, sometimes you need to stop and think for 5-10 seconds but not more than that, most of the time it your points should be applied in <1 second This is all pretty try hard stuff that I enjoy, it's satisfying to play as efficiently as possible. Of course that's not the case for everyone, some people enjoy being slow casuals and reading every piece of gear you get and killing every mob you encounter. You should do what's fun for you. Even if you are a filthy casual, you can probably play a bit faster than you are with some of those tips.

So pick one of the strong skills (EQ, bladefall, blade vortex - my favourite) until you have enough passives to make your stuff work.
