I think we're at a point where a good number of people have the theoretical minimum survivability and DPS to kill Atziri w/o the RF, buzzsaw build, but its just that very few have the skill or knowledge to do it without dying. Won't be surprised to see people doing Atziri with absolutely terrible or normal builds in a month or two.

any with decent dps plus 77 resist+phoenix mosaic shield+5000plus life and some flasks can do normal atiziri easily with some micro, no swap needed the boss trio before her is more annoying than atziri herself,

You still need the reactions and mechanics. I'm going to make up some numbers here: (emphasis on making up)
1. Assume you take 10 minutes to kill Atziri with your DPS 2. Assume you are pretty good at dodging her, but you still get hit 1/20 times, which works out to be once every 10 seconds 3. Assume that you are sufficiently tanky that 1/10 of her hits are actually a problem and can one shot you.
With these completely made up numbers, it means Atziri will hit you an estimated 30 times, and if there's a 1 in 10 chance of her 1-shotting you, then on average you would die 3 times in this situation. I feel that its really a game of statistics and probabilities once you've reached a certain level of tankiness.

thats whys say "some micro" we are living in a probabilistic universe anyway, not just PoE.
if someone takes 10 minute to kill atziri, are you going to straight assume he fails cause statistics says so, ignoring factors like skill/micro level? dont forget her normal flameblast will not hurt you much with the 77 fire/phoenix shield/5000 life setup, you only to focus on dodging her stormcall and that twin gigantic flameblast. and if you are playing SC/ambush you can still afford to die once in a while anyway
yeah obviously someone using shav/COE build is gonna kill her so fast anyway, just talking normal atziri here

I think he is right. The thing is, those things evolve slowly because everyone is doing the same things that the first one was doing on his successful run which is far from perfect/effecient. That's the reason why it took most people ages to realise that using EE triggers with SB would be good. Or to use SB+Ice Nova (EE) to kill the Atziri waves faster. I think the right usage of Icewall with faster casting and increased duration could help to let 0 minions reach atziri.

It also can't be used to create a square without running around a lot because there's no vector targeting.

So I dont want to admit this, but I actually have a lot of experience with Ice wall + spell totem, (Mostly from killing normal Piety with a level 45 CI EB character as a challenge/dare/bet.) The totem casts the ice wall centered on the closest mob, pushing it back a little, and then it will keep casting on the closest mob. If there is only 1 mob this has the effect of essentially "pushing" back the mob until the mob is out of the range of the totems casting area, which in the case of the atziri room should be more than enough. a totem can keep like 7-8 walls up at a time or so.

You could use Vaal Glacial Hammer+inc dur (+BM/FA?), cast on the ground and then either leap slap or lightning warm out.

I mean, I would have to see if the spell totem will actually work with the number of mobs in question and the nasty cast speed penalty since most uber-capable builds don't have any to speak of. You also need blood magic to use it with that mana multipliers for most uber Atziri builds I think, so it's a 5L if you want to use faster casting.
Who knows, maybe it does work, it just doesn't seem worth the intellectual energy for something that's usually just a DPS check.

like many less used skills frost wall has interesting potential but i think its frivolous for atziri
weapon swap can mess up someone's aura depending on their build, just saying. and from what I see most build that challenge atziri really should not have much of an issue dps-ing down the minions, so why for waste a precious 4L in your gear just for ice wall unless you are somehow specifically geared for it right at the start.
