the onslaught modes only happen in the later part of the event so theres plenty time to get a char prepared for endgame by then

Invasion bosses are pretty beatable with a few exceptions, and you can always run away or reset the instance. The 20% increased atk/cast/move was scary for Onslaught, especially in areas with bursty monsters or a rare with a nasty aura. So easy to get zerged before you van react or get wrecked by desync. | ||

If you have two of the same aura in Diablo 2 then you can equip one of them over and over again and it'll make another of that aura. Dream gives holy shock so you can stack a million holy shocks. This got fixed a long time ago though. | ||

Currently, I'm playing a templar w/ 1h mace/shield. Using searing bond, molten strike and molten shell, with flammability available for tanky mobs. I've specced into avatar of fire, as well as some other things (Mostly life/resist/block). Im doing well in cruel right now, but im kind of lost with where to go with my skills, if i should change anything, and what i should be linking my gems with. My idea was to be tanky with high amounts of AoE damage to farm quickly. Also what I should be prioritizing as far as my armor goes? Any advice is much appreciated, and if you ever want to play with me, add me on Americas SC as Belfast. Thanks in advance! | ||

I wouldn't recommend taking Avatar of Fire its generally a dps loss in most scenarios. If you want to link your skill tree we could help you optimize it as well, with what you want to do. Generally Searing Bond is linked to Increased Burning Damage. Molten shell kinda depends what you're using it for, if you're just using it for the extra armor you may want to link it to increased duration, if you're using it with crits you may want to link Increased Crit Damage/Crit Chance or maybe Increased Burning Damage. With Molten Strike you'll want to link any of: Multistrike, Fire Penetration, Faster Attacks, Mana Leech, Life Leech, or Weapon Elemental Damage, depending on your available links your hp sustainability and if you can sustain the mana cost, you just kinda need to see what you have available to you and where your issues are at and play around with it a little bit. As far as general tips for picking what gear to use, prioritize life and resists, then armor and dps. (Though with a fire caster there aren't a lot of dps mods that you're looking for, mostly just spell damage % or fire damage %, or maybe cast speed.) I also highly recommend picking up a Vaal Molten Shell linked to increased AOE and increased duration. At high levels you get pretty decent uptime with it. Searing Bond is very strong for leveling, but it gets boring and falls off-- you can take a few burning damage nodes, but I don't recommend specc-ing heavily into it. If you can, pick up the fire version of the Atziri belt, also you can probably use LGOH until you begin mapping. I also like Conc Effect on Molten Strike. So, alternative to Vara you could go Molten Strike-Multistrike-LGOH-Conc Effect. An idea I had is to also try Added Lightning Damage (quality), the projectiles get the lightning damage and benefit even more from all the ele multipliers. Static Blows *might* be worth taking as well, it's not too far from Purity of Flesh, aka my favorite passive in the tree. | ||
